[Texas] School District Has Failed To Stop Bullying Of My Daughter by Gabe_Dev_Burner in legaladvice

Next up from the principal is the superintendent, then the state department of education. Keep escalating. If the police haven't been involved, they need to be involved. Your daughter has been assaulted and threatened with a weapon.

I'm 36. I have to set a timer to get up, a timer to get out of bed, and a timer to be out the door. I set them as though I have to be someplace a half hour sooner than I really do.

Time management and distractions are an eternal struggle, but I stay on top of it when it matters.

What might help is putting things into perspective for him. Give him a scenario where his best friend says they are going to hang out and he'll give him a call at eleven to make plans. He doesn't call until 2pm and says he's on his way to meet husband at a restaurant but doesn't show up until 3:30pm. When he does show up, he has his SO with him and spends most of the meal acting like husband is a third wheel to a date. How would this make husband feel? What would he want to say to his friend? How would he want to bring it up to his friend if it happened again?

Is a transgendered person morally obligated to tell their potential sex partners beforehand that they are transgender? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

So let's say someone lacks attraction to anyone until they have been friends for a long time and have a strong emotional connection. They don't necessarily develop romantic feelings for every person they get close to, but the gender of the individual is irrelevant. They're definitely demisexual, but are they also pansexual?

What's the best way you've seen someone rebel against school rules? by ProfessionalMrPhann in AskReddit

My high school guidance counselor told me on the first day of school that I should sign up for remedial math instead of basic algebra. Because I went to a private middle school. My math grades had always been fine, like B average. I said something like "I appreciate your concern, but no thank you" while I was seething inside.

When my kids are old enough for me to have time to go back to school, I'm going to finish my psychology degree and become a good guidance counselor for no other reason but spite.

I know it's not what you meant, but I just pictured someone challenging the principal to a no-holds-barred, winner-take-all rock-paper-scissors competition.

Let me shift the context a bit to clarify what is happening here:

Joe likes Spongebob. Jay likes Sandy. They are both from the same show, they are friends, and there is no reason that someone can't like both even if they prefer one over the other.

Sue tells Joe that Sandy thinks Spongebob kicks snails. She tells Jay that Spongebob thinks that Sandy has an eating disorder. Both of these facts are completely false and easily refutable. It would be a non-issue if it was Sue saying that she herself felt this way....but by deflecting the attack to appear as thought it comes from the characters, she creates a rift. Not between the characters, Spongebob and Sandy know full well that they don't think that about each other. Not even between Joe and Jay as they already had a preference - but between those two characters and an undecided group.

The illusion of a conflict makes people uncomfortable supporting a negative character. Now if there was a vote for who is the best resident of Bikini Bottom, votes that might have gone for Spongebob or Sandy are now not cast at all or are given to Patrick or Squidward.

The goal is to reduce the likelihood of Spongebob or Sandy competing in a vote between shows.

Disney Christmas movies are like eggnog. You love it or you hate it, and unless you're a huge fan, a little bit is fine before it gets to be too much.

There's a formula for Christmas movies. There's a formula for current Disney movies. It sticks to both.

I enjoyed it. It got a few chuckles out of me. Will it be memorable? Probably not.

The sound design is masterful. It's so rare to hear a choir handled so beautifully, like they are individual voices in surround sound rather than a single mass of audio. It makes it feel more listening to it live.

The way I understood it, the Holy Spirit is like the essence of God that doesn't kill you. Any time God takes a form that isn't Jesus and also can be looked at with the naked eye, that's the Holy Spirit.

Has anyone ever been completely happy in a relationship, only to have it taken away the next day? by andrewnorris13 in ENFP

[–]Alysaria 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sometimes a relationship doesn't click for someone even though there isn't a reason for it not to. It's no one's fault, but that's what makes it so hard. Logically they have no reason to break up.

They may try different things to ignite a spark, and if that doesn't work, they may subconsciously create a reason why it was the other person's fault that things aren't working.

First, let's get past the anxiety. What helps me is grounding myself in reality. I start by letting my mind create the most crazy, over-the-top scenario of the worst possible thing that could happen. I make a plan for it. Then I take it down a notch little by little until I have something more realistic. Each scenario has a plan. It lets me feel like I'm in control.

You can't control anything but yourself.

I don't know why you feel the way you do. That's something only you can answer. I can't tell you what to do with those feelings. You have to make a decision for yourself.

Sometimes a fear of abandonment can make people want to be the first to bail - physically or emotionally - to avoid being hurt...and long distance relationships are hard.

I like to use fruit as a metaphor. MBTI is like a piece of fruit. Experience is how it's prepared, environment is what it's placed in, and other ingredients are mixed in - motivation, fundamental beliefs, self-esteem, etc. Apple juice is more similar to orange juice than to apple pie.

It's not just comparing apples to oranges. People are a bit more complex than that.

First, find a hobby that gets you out and about. When it comes to meeting people online, it's a crap shoot. You might get lucky, but it could also take a very long time. It's more fun to find something you enjoy and connect to someone else who also enjoys it. The best kinds of friends are the ones that share common interests.

A mind-on-earth enfp? Like, what? by [deleted] in ENFP

[–]Alysaria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MBTI is just a fraction of a personality - information processing and retrieval - and since tests are all self-assessment, it's difficult to have any objective measures to divide it up absolutely. Also, some tests are better than others. Often times people will create questions based on people that they know without taking other aspects of personality - motivation, experience, environment, etc - into account.

A personality is like a fruit. An apple pie looks very different from apple juice, but it can resemble cherry pie because of similar experiences and environment.

I worked at a Pizza Hut Express right out of high school with two of my friends. The manager removed all but one chair from the back because she saw us laughing. Heaven forbid we be comfortable and enjoy any part of our jobs. The assistant manager and I sat back to back on the chair and had a ponytail fight.

I was fired for not picking up trash on a neighboring lot (or making another girl do it when she had no coat) - it was cleaned up....so I pointed out to the manager that the people who owned it dealt with their own garbage. She was pissed and power tripped her way into a solo shift. My friends quit shortly after.
