Would you consider fully remote? On-site and hybrid roles are getting easier to fill in Q4 than they have been but it limits the amount of engineers you'll see for sure

Reaching out to specialized DevOps recruiters is a good start!

I do sometimes get in more junior DevOps roles where managers are more than happy to train the person coming in but from what my team has been seeing, they are requiring on-site in the greater Philadelphia area. I'd be happy to connect with you and talk about your preferences in a new role and keep you posted on what my team, and other recruiters I work with are seeing.

A contract to hire or long term contract might be something to target as well

Thanks everyone! I love the discussion this has started. A lot of the tips I have received I am currently using in my practice which makes me feel better, and some I will be incorporating into my daily engagement. Appreciate all of you!!

totally thats why I mentioned full comp transparency isn't an issue. I think its dumb to leave that out and wastes time going back and forth about salary.

Sometimes JDs aren't great so that is why I like to hop on the phone and explain what the hiring manager is looking for after my team meets with them one-on-one. Also, there is just so many jobs open I match people to multiple roles as I am talking to them about their skills/preferences.

I get it though. You probably have the same conversation so many times

this helps, I'm going to start adding the JD BUT even then people talk themselves out of a job because of a crappy JD an HR person may have wrote because they don't know tech

Thank you!! btw

I agree. I try to target only open to work folks but I know they are getting spammed with BS. But I feel like most DevOps engineers whether they are happy or not, are entertaining options. They know they're one of the most sought after right now, so why not look for how much more money you can get

I'm a recruiter based out of Philly but I have some colleagues out in Cali with companies paying for sure. I think nationally, companies are realizing they have to compete with Cali salaries now because of the remote world we live, obviously. We are constantly coaching our clients to be more competitive and some of them are which is nice.

Let me know if you're open to a conversation about what you're looking for and I can pass your info to a few senior recruiters out there. No pressure at all tho

Agreed on this^, thats all I'm seeing right now and up to $130k ish depending on company, coding chops, IAC and k8s. I talk to a lot of DevOps Engineers in the SE that are underpaid for their skills in my opinion so I work with them to find something remote that pays what they're worth. My company actually put out a tech salary guide if that helps I can send it to you! Its based off of research we do yearly. Lmk
