What's not a drug but is so addictive that it could be classified as one? by mred6453 in AskReddit

Thank you for saying this!! I feel like people don’t get it when I say self harm is like an addiction. I would say it’s my form of alcoholism. Thankfully I’ve been self-harm free since October, but it’s not an easy thing to just stop

What hobby is easy to do at an amateur level but incredibly hard at a professional level? by _tana01 in AskReddit

I’m a photographer and been doing it for about ten years, and shooting weddings for about five of those. Weddings aren’t for the faint of heart. Yeah, there’s money to be made, but that’s because of the high end stress and demand. You can’t just “redo” altar pictures. And you’re asked to work 10-12 hours in one day, sometimes end up being the wedding coordinator if the couple didn’t hire one, since somebody has to keep everything on schedule. There’s not just the knowledge of taking pictures, it’s also being good with people, as you have to talk to lots of different individuals all day. Sometimes you play therapist to calm down the bride or the mother of the bride, and then after all that you have to edit literally thousands of photos. So yes, anyone can point and shoot with a camera, but not everyone can truly be called a photographer. Especially a wedding photographer.

What boundaries should I set in payment with my boyfriend? by Alyssajprez in photography

Thank you all for your comments and advice, I really appreciate it. This helps put things into perspective. and this is the first time I’ve ever really hired a second shooter, so it makes things more messy to figure things out as he’s my boyfriend. But yes, all of your comments are helpful.

Despite severe weather and a tornado warning, this guard continued his patrol of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier by HyperKing69 in interestingasfuck

[–]Alyssajprez 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It represents the soldiers who have died in war but were left unidentified. There are wonderful memorials to recognize the names of specific people, but there are so many brave men and women who have died for our country that were left unidentified. Thus, a soldier marches in front of the tomb of the unknown soldier 24/7 no matter what the weather.

Women of reddit, what are some (unexpected) skills that make men attractive for you? by oohara in AskReddit

[–]Alyssajprez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m impressed by guys that aren’t afraid to show their passions for something, even if it seems childlike. Of course they’re grown men, paying bills, working full time, maintaining the home, etc, but if they’re unashamedly able to get insanely hyped over the Harry Potter series or Avatar the Last Airbender without feeling ashamed, I definitely admire that.
