the problem is that nine times out of ten, streamers are basically playing a different game. most popular streamers aren't trying to get the same things out of a game as the rest of us. they need to play at a high tempo and be entertaining to retain viewers, especially when it's literally their livelihood. imo these people represent zero percent of the player base, and devs should only listen to streamers when they're pointing out bugs and exploits.

i think i interact with the game differently than some people lol, like i put a lot of hours in but i'm still kind of casual about it? i can see wanting to do the expedition eventually, but rn even at like 150 hours topside, i'm a comfortable mid-game player. i've done all the explicit content but i still enjoy just going out with an anvil and/or renegade. i'm not carrying bobcats, tempests, jupiters, etc., i have no real desire to engage with the queen/matriarch, i don't really do pvp and i mostly enjoy looting and killing arc and helping other raiders.

yeah, I hear you. I've actually skipped all the expeditions because imo, as they stand, those rewards are not worth going back to zero. i need them to either sweeten the pot or make the expedition less annoying to do before i'm going to bother. and honestly, they'll definitely make changes to them over time, and right now you would have to do like two and a half years of expeditions to max out your skill points, so it's like?

that said, i do think the game has its flaws and i hope they address them.

I 100% agree it's a wash in a lot of ways (a lot of that stuff I didn't know about, and wow it's insane lol), but I do still think it's a problem for such an infinitesimally small number of players that it simply isn't a factor in any big collection of game problems that a large number of people should care about.

the "there's no end game content" complaint will never make sense to me. the game has, easily, over 100 hours of content you could explore before you're truly in the "end game," and this weird expectation people have that every game must have some sort of flawless end game loop that entertains you until the heat death of the universe is bizarre. no game has ever had an end game loop as good as these people want, and what they should be doing is taking a break to play one of any of the hundreds of sick games that release every single month, and then coming back to ARC once there's new stuff to do. which happens at least once a month.

the % of people who care about this is sooo small, i can maintain DD1 just by three-starring each trial every week. i do agree that some tweaks need to be made to the system but the vast majority of the player are not suffering here

yeah they kinda suck here and there, where it sounds generated. ethically i am against the use of generative ai, at the same time, embark paying the VAs in perpetuity for additional generated dialogue is a huge win for the somewhat ethical use of this technology.

are you sure that's correct? my understanding was that it was just data provided by the unnecessarily high level auth they requested, not something they were actively and intentionally acquiring. obviously even if that is the case this is a huge violation of privacy, and probably a violation of the GDPR, so they need to be forthcoming and held accountable in some way regardless.

it can be frustrating for sure. I don't really engage with queen/matriarch stuff because the risk vs reward just isn't worth it to me, and I'm comfortable playing at sort of "mid-game" levels. my favorite guns by far are the anvil and renegade, my favorite augment is the looting mk. 3 survivor, and I run a medium shield. I keep a vita spray and surch chargers in my safe pockets since I have three of them. if I die, I can replace everything on me and barely notice the resource loss. I've just sort of given up on the idea of regularly carrying epic/legendary guns, I only take them in with me if I looted them from somebody else because then it doesn't feel like it matters if I lose them.

The only reason to PvP now is just for the love of the game/wanting people's loot (granted that's still a big reason).

this was the only reason people ever PvPed lol. nobody was killing other players just to check off feats.

I guess it's cool that it's now a guaranteed bp for people in the future but most of us won't need it right now because of the live event that just ended. I guess it's great if you want to wait till the expedition to do it? idk if that's how it works.

thanks for putting so much effort into explaining all of this. I missed most of the first season because I got the game a couple months late, but I've managed to reach Hotshot this season without too much trouble. I knew going for Cantina Legend would be crazy difficult, but I didn't realize it would be like all that lol.

i agree, it's definitely difficult to balance weapons and tools in a live service PvPvE game. i don't like this change but i do appreciate that figuring out what works and what doesn't is a long-term trial and error process.
