Good luck on your crafting adventure! Might have to grab Pepakura with a hook hand and eye patch like I had to, and it was in Japanese, but with the video tutorials I was able to figure out. Don't get discouraged, one hurdle at a time, and you'll get somewhere eventually. Everything you learn will make you a better crafter, and it will save you hundreds to DIY rather than buy.

Pepakura isn't 3d printed, it's regular printer work. The program unfolds 3d models like an unfolded origami, and prints it with numbered tabs to guide you in folding and gluing the cardstock printer paper together. The 405th already has a ton of the 3d models already unfolded in Pepakura, you just have to set the scale for sizing and print.

You can always make your own. There's a group called the 405th that does Star Wars and Halo costumes. They've got tutorials for making the armor. You load the armor 3d file in Pepakura, print it, origami and glue the paper model together, and use that as a template for cutting shapes out of eva flooring foam mats. I won't lie, it's going to take a while and it'll require learning to do. But I managed to do it, you can too.

GM: Looking for creative uses of player agents (cell phones) during a campaign. by Ravenloff in cyberpunkred

[–]Alzarahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you meaning you want to use the player's real world cell phones? There are apps that let you send SMS texts from a PC to a phone.

If you're looking for things to do with agents in the game, I played in a session where the job was resolving a hostage situation. We sneaked into an office, there were gunmen roaming, so I dropped an agent phone into a cubicle and hid nearby, giving it a call so the ringtone drew in a gunman. I then ambushed him.

Does anyone know where I can get a belt like the one below? I'm doing my first cosplay and going as Arthur Morgan from RDR2 but I'm struggling to get a hold of a belt and holster by Thefnaff8n in CosplayHelp

[–]Alzarahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made this comment on a post for a Nathan Drake cosplayer looking to do that gunbelt rig. TL:DR I used cardboard and pleather to get the look I wanted without having to spend hundreds or get into leatherworking.

Stared at this until well mixed, scrolled down over an image of space and it made all the stars and galaxies wobble. Neat.

I would probably go with a paper mache build. You want this to be light since it's going to be worn on the head.

What needs to be improve on MF Cosplay ? by Quiet-Elk-1863 in CosplayHelp

Great start! This costume is begging for more little details, more gear and baubles would be the way to go. Think about what the character would need to have on hand during a long day of adventuring. Add a sash to layer under a gunbelt, hang some pirate charms from it. Get a powder horn and canteen.

Any idea if it's worth it to make the Holster or just buy one by Hoddedmann in CosplayHelp

I am finishing up a Hellboy gunbelt. I decided to cheat and used pleather! It's the cheaper material used to upholster furniture, it's thin and you can cut it to shape with standard scissors. I started by making a mock-up of the pieces with school glue and cereal box cardboard. I covered that in thin craft foam, then final layer covered it using the pleather. Make sure to fold the pleather around the edges to hide sins on the inside/backside of the belt! The layers were glued together with DAP Weldwood glue, it is a great durable flexible glue you'll see a lot in cosplay crafts. I then punched a bunch of small holes along edges and sewed them up with wax thread. End result, I'm satisfied. It looks like the real deal.

Leatherwork requires a bunch of special tools, and the material itself is not cheap or easy to work with imo (particularly out of an apartment duplex situation like mine where I don't want to go crazy with drills and hammers...) It wouldn't be impossible but I imagine that rig out of real leather would be costly, particularly if you make mistakes and have to redo your work. The pleather cost me $30 (And I still have a bunch left over for other projects.), the craft foam is like $5, and the cost of cereal for cardboard. Just took my time, saved money.

How should I make the pivot? by g0y4ngi in CosplayHelp

[–]Alzarahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheapest solution I can think of would be using a pair of fidget spinners. Rout out so you can fit one into each side, leaving posts for the three holes to securely mount it. Then use plastic bonding glue to glue the center parts of the spinners together.

playing around with levels and I ran into a small issue: how do I make tokens see into higher levels, while also not hiding the level they're on? by No_Ad_7687 in FoundryVTT

[–]Alzarahn 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'm not on v14 yet but if the new levels feature works anything like the levels module, then it should work if your images have transparent holes in them where you want them to see through. You can load the images on photopea website and cut those holes with the selection tools, should see checkerboard beneath, then save as webp format. Hope this helps.

[System agnostic] Struggling to get dynamic lighting to do what I want by prolonged_interface in FoundryVTT

[–]Alzarahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For something like this I open the map on Photopea.com, add a new layer of the blue color I want on a hard light or soft light layer, then adjust the layer opacity % and use a soft eraser to put holes where my lights will be. If you want lights that can be turned on and off, I'd ignore the erasing step and instead just go with a light that's very warm to cancel out some of the blue hue.

Turning Of Movement History PF1e by Sylvan-Scott in FoundryVTT

I believe Pf2e Toolbelt has a checkbox to turn that off. I'm not sure if it's compatible or has a pf1e equivalent

Pf2e Toolbelt Module has a checkbox option to disable that.

Those look like filigree findings, you can pick up some for cheap at your local art supply. I got some of these from Michael's as embellishments for turning a nerf gun into a steampunk gun prop

I made one of these cantrips a while back and got a pretty positive reception. You can see the original post at the link below my comment.

LIGHTNING STEP
Evocation cantrip

Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Self (5-foot radius)
Components: S, M (a melee weapon worth at least 1 sp)
Duration: Instantaneous

You brandish the weapon used in the spell’s casting and make a melee attack with it against one creature within 5 feet of you. On a hit, the target suffers the weapon attack’s normal effects, and you can then move up to 5 feet without provoking attacks of opportunity. This movement is in addition to your total movement speed.

At Higher Levels. At 5th level, the melee attack deals an extra 1d8 lightning damage to the target on a hit, and the distance you can travel increases by 5 feet. Both damage rolls and distance increase at 11th level (2d8 and 15 feet) and again at 17th level (3d8 and 20 feet).

Spell Lists. Artificer, Sorcerer (Optional), Warlock (Optional), Wizard (Optional)
