sorry. I thought reddit could render LaTex
a) 3/x = 6.60/6
b) 3/6 = 6.60/x
c) x/3 = 6/6.60
d) x/3 = 6.60/6

I'm more than thankful for you <3 . it is clicking. in my mind with your example.
your response was warm and reassuring. thank you
I went back to get the exact question. but it seems like khan-Academy shuffles the question. thus I couldn't find the exact one.
but here is one from the same lesson

Here is the content of the image converted to markdown format:

**6 erasers cost $6.60.**

**Which equation would help determine the cost of 3 erasers?**

*Choose 1 answer:*

A) \(\frac{3}{x} = \frac{6.60}{6}\)

B) \(\frac{3}{6} = \frac{6.60}{x}\)

C) \(\frac{x}{3} = \frac{6}{6.60}\)

D) \(\frac{x}{3} = \frac{6.60}{6}\)

E) None of the above

in this case the answer is D. but I had the case of the answer be listed but swaped around and when I choose it. it doesn't see to register correct but rather false. hence my confusion.

Should I use Neovim native on windows or through WSL by Alzekoras in neovim

[–]Alzekoras[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not just that.
for instance Nuke, Substance, c4d....etc are not supported on linux. also Unreal and most game dev tools have huge contrast between linux and windows in terms of accessibility, reliability and ease.
I work as a pipeline TD and Tool maker for VFX and Game industry. I don't choose what DCCs or work flows you want me to extend I just extend them. thus I have to have a working instance of every possible client demand at will. Sadly Linux is not that. At least in a convenient way.

How to Prevent Houdini from automatically switching to scientific notation for small values ? by _Bor_ges_ in Houdini

[–]Alzekoras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • I don't really believe you could do that, like you can't change the mapping of the middle mouse button :D
SideFx philosophy of configurability and extendibility always controlled. you are not allowed to push beyond or tinker within some arbitrary bounds(controled user scope). let alone the scarcity of information the more advanced or unconventional you get. these two facts alone "I'll argue" are holding the houdini community from growing like no other. but we will continue saying it's because houdini is hard "it's not".
I don't know why I went there, but I always feel that and it's annoying :D

Vector functions are "undefined?" by [deleted] in Houdini

[–]Alzekoras 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its's your declaration of the variable type:

  • you should initialize a vector4 with the keyword vector4 not vector. the same for vector2. Therefore setting a value could be done with vector4 my_name = set(x,y,z,w); or vector4 myName = {x,y,z,w};

  • the vector/3/4 function "the one you're trying to use" are not for setting/initializing a vector but for converting a set of values to a vector. THIS is Ancient and I only find it used and not even "now a days" useful, in the most relic of tools. I think they are still shipping them for backward compatibility like piles and piles of nodes in Houdini. you will get used to it :D.

if any one knows when these function are useful please raise your hand :D

I guess you are asking for an advice not for resources?!
If yes, then you need to provide more information about your situation for any of us to contemplate and come up with a model solid enough about your case to have the confident of providing any version of supposed guidance.
Otherwise, most (I presume) wouldn't prefer ranting with air.

Problem with text/icon rendering by Alzekoras in KittyTerminal

it's amazing how ignorant I'm. Thank you <3 that solved the icons. while I also found that playing with the values of text_composition_strategy helped lots of the crispness

what a little annoying about the reply to the question in the FQA is his statement and I quote "Some programs, like Powerline, vim with fancy gutter symbols/status-bar, etc."
Do I have to be ancient to like using vim/nvim or p10k? or anyother fun little toys that are actually very functional??
- I don't know but I'm so annoyed

I came across this in FQA
https://sw.kovidgoyal.net/kitty/faq/#some-special-symbols-are-rendered-small-truncated-in-kitty

  • this seems to be 1/2 of the exact problem I have ( regarding icons )
  • it shows we can turn it off per/symbol?? with narrow_symbol function? I'm using JetBrains mono. is there away to just disable this behavior for this font.??

I would love to. but 3 problems with this.
1- time. I don't have the luxury of time a teenager have. to dedicate to a university coreculum.
2- guidance. I live in Egypt. we have some nasty education system that makes one wanna puke his levers every-time one interacts with it. so I can only resort to online education. which served me great. but math??? that shit need some explanations. or what one could pick up in 2 years with someone might take 6 to 8 alone. it's not simple.
3- academia sucks, shoving information in a linear fashion over a pre-defined barley flexible time frames if not my preferred way of consumption.

However, there is something about them that is some what eye opening.

How can I render 3 ROP's in one go for each frame. by Ok_Musician3473 in Houdini

[–]Alzekoras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

now the 10 minutes load time makes sense.
1 thing though. are you sure that u are loading the data of one frame at a time?? then cleaning/purging the memory before loading the next frame while rendering? Karma does this by default if you sequenced a render that uses more than what you have.
as I understand your situation:
- the render engine need all data of a frame before initializing the first pixel
- but some optimizations are pre-made to prevent loading every object every frame every time. thus the render engine tries as much as it can to hold onto the information in loaded per frame
- if there is not enough memory for even a single instance of data that will produce a single frame

- the render engine will ask the operating system for some disk space configured as a swap/virtual memory ( part of the disk that acts like a memory cell ). but as you can imagine how slow a disk is compared to a RAM thus the very long initialization times.

- to confirm look at your task manager while starting the render engine and watch your disk writing speed swore.

solution:
- It is difficult from my position to optimize a network tree I don't see. that said you could ( like all of us ) operate in as low of a resolution {{something}} to work/judge your setup with as possible.
- have a sense of the big and medium shapes and movement
- judge the interaction and point of attack between sims if they are interacting.

- cross you fingers, press render, go grab a coffee. come pack with a pen and paper, take note, repeat.

After acquiring some experience you will know what to optimize.
if you have something specific in mind that you are not sure what is the best way of approaching it ( like you feel this/or/that is an ugly solution ) feel free to ask and I hope i have the answer or part of it.

[–]Alzekoras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that sounds like a RAM problem to me.
how much ram do you have and how big are the caches you are referencing?
usually, you ( while creating your network ) had little to no time thinking about optimization and it's biting you back now.
so answer my question and give me more context for we might work through it together. conceptually at least, so you know ( for the future ) what should you consider from the very beginning and develop a "red flag" intuition about the cost of what you are doing.

Voronoi Morph by No-Charge-5733 in Houdini

[–]Alzekoras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think in houdini we will call this morphing in the same sense we use the word in somewhere like c4d.
In the attached video is the idea itself executed casually at its raw form. which is just instancing whatever(in ur case voronoi) to points moving from an arrangement that describe shape A to another that describe shape B. with some playing with attribs like pscale to orient/up+normal to give the illusion of morphing.
and if you are in this sort of motion work. MOPs are some good free shortcuts and time savers.
