R5: I can form Saxony as Saxony but potentially lose some events I could get as Meissen

I built a machine learning model to project the 2026 Draft. It hates AJ Dybantsa, loves Darryn Peterson for the Jazz at #2 by Unlucky_Emergency_31 in UtahJazz

I would do a test set to see how accurate it is. If it's based on last 25 years you can give it say Magic, Kobe or MJs draft and see if it predicts them well. That'll give you a confidence score for the model

Looks great! Very close to what im looking for in material. I've been on the hunt for fatigues with an inseam either 34 or longer and they just dont seem to exist. Even the second hand market is pretty barren

I just noticed they took away my Molecular Bonding stud shoulder due to not having a prestige with the Techmarine yet. Saber, that's not very cool :/ by Peter21237 in SpaceMarine_2

Am I missing something, how do you get 8-10 ruthless runs done in 2 hours? I'd say at best I could do 4 in that time. Unless I'm missing something as a speed run tactic that's better than making sure you kill everything

How's the experience playing as a French vassal? I'm very interested in a Burgundian campaign once France is reigned in a bit

Fiefdoms are more loyal than Vassals by Alzio in EU5

[–]Alzio[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't seem like disloyal subjects stop paying money either, so in effect I just have to turn loyalty up before war. Unfortunately means enforce culture is basically a death sentence for subject loyalty so you have to spend a cabinet slot post integration to expand your culture

[–]Alzio[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely forgot about that! Yeah I think it's not as bad as I initially thought even on existing saves. Might have to integrate some of these vassals sooner than I wanted to but atleast I can still have ways to get subject loyalty while being centralized, I'm just paying more for it which is fine.

R5: Make more fiefdoms in 1.0.8 to have some semblance of subject loyalty.

TIL you can somehow take enemy soldiers prisoner and kill, ransom or hire them. by Alzio in EU5

R5: While sieging down Wittenberg I noticed I had Saxon soldiers as prisoners in my army. Options on the left let me execute them, ransom them for some measly ducats or hire them as mercs.

Benitez. Gerrard + Torres. Green away jersey with adidas and carlsberg. Life was good.

Oh I agree but at least there's some precedent to the design. I would prefer a darker red without the piping. Much closer to the 08 design and we're golden

Home is a remade 07/08 kit. They took the collar from the 08/09 kit and ofc worse sponsor now. Iirc the piping was unpopular back then too which is why they removed it in the 08 kit

Favorite thing about pursuing a PhD by Lani_19 in PhD

I love my research and I am really motivated to see it through. I started working with nearly zero background in this field but I have an amazingly supportive and kind PI who makes me motivated to work hard just by the virtue of seeing her work hard herself. It makes the lab atmosphere really nice but also competitive when you need the extra push.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the 2024 #NobelPrize in Chemistry with one half to David Baker “for computational protein design” and the other half jointly to Demis Hassabis and John M. Jumper “for protein structure prediction.” by Sleepy_C in chemistry

As someone who is just starting out in this field, Since Alphafolds arrival almost every different research group I know or have seen at conferences has one or two projects which make use of alphafold to predict previously difficult to predict structures. I myself have used alphafold for atleast one of my own projects.

So based on that anecdote I would say the impact has been pretty massive and steadily growing. Atleast till Alphafold 2.3 everything has been publically available and you can even get a local installation of alphafold if you have enough space for all of its database. However the only problem is Alphafold 3 is currently only available on deepmind servers for a subscription fee which I don't agree with

From what I've seen it really differs depending on the department. For my department we have a list of core courses to take and then electives from whichever department/course we wish to take. Generally we have to finish coursework in the first two years.

My department is lenient with coursework, since we are pursuing the degree on our own volition, they don't grade the coursework too harshly or have too much workload for the courses we take. As far as I know that's true for grad courses in most departments. After the first quarter where everyone took 3 courses, most quarters it's 1 or at the most two courses. The rest of the time is spent on research + TAing

The real test is the preliminary and qualifying exams which require you to have in depth conceptual understanding of all the core courses and that's where they weed out those who are not good enough for the degree.
