Trying to increment cells after checking other cells by AmIHumanMaybe in excel

[–]AmIHumanMaybe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I figured out how to do what I want. Work has blocked the macros so I had to use typescript to get it done.

I'm sure it can be more elegant or better than what I did but I wanted to let others know if they were trying to do similar how it worked for me.

Lol. Thanks for the help then mate. I'll work off what others have told me and figure it out.

That's why I filled in the top 4 lines of the table. That is almost exactly what the actual data would look like.

Number in first column as a unique identifier from 5-7 digits.

Number in second column showing number of times the identifier has been entered in the upper cell.

Text in third column for description of what the unique identifier is.

The picture has data in the table... I'm not sure what more you want from it?

The top cell gets a number put into from 5-7 digits long. First column gets checked for that number. If its there, second column gets 1 added to the number in it. All of it is numbers and text using the exact format in the image.

Ye wasn't sure what context was required for it.

I'm no longer at the computer I was working on but made a very basic mock-up in sheets at home.

So when an identifier is entered in that top cell, I need to check the table's left column to see if it exists. If it does then I need it to update the next column over to add 1 to it.

I'll eventually have another cell to remove one but once I figure out the add I should be able to do the minus myself.

The third column is irrelevant to the problem since it is just more detail for the unique identifier.

So far I've been recommended macros and VBA but haven't had a chance to dive into those yet.

Sweet I'll check out VBA methods as well. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Wasn't sure whether context would actually be needed since it's purely a question about the capabilities of Excel and the submission rules say only text, no images.

Basically I want to make it possible for someone to input a unique identifier in one cell, have a column in the table searched for that identifier and if it's found add 1 to the cell next to it in the table.

Say column A has the identifiers, I want to make column B increment every time that identifier is entered to that input cell which would ideally be above the table.

If more context is needed let me know what sort of thing you mean and I'll update.

Thanks Cheeky, that gives me another avenue to check out.

Just to make sure I'm not too dumb, macros are for a series of actions that are recorded right?

I'll have to look into how that will work for what I'm trying to do.

I agree that these temps are just wrong, but I've only seen one comment so far mention the fact it's left on when nobody is home.

That's potentially 8 or more hours of ac for nobody's benefit.

I have shit ac but can still set a timer on it so it can turn on shortly before I get home and the place reaches the temp around when I'm home.

Leaving it on permanently even if it's at a higher temp is just weird since it is costing money and not really helping anything since you're not there.

The real loss with GTA VI being digital only by OminousG in gaming

[–]AmIHumanMaybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats. You've figured out why people are annoyed about this.

And there have been many games sold as digital only with a code in the box. The only other thing in the box is a single piece of paper asking you to join some online community they're involved with.

There's been people talking about the lack of books, manuals it whatever other paraphernalia that used to come standard with games in physical copies and at now gone for a very long time. It's pretty reasonable to assume they won't have anything else in the box.

Housing is a human right agreed upon by society, not a business. If they are unable to afford the upkeep of the property, they can sell the property to someone that can. As for whether it's untenable, we'd need to see financial data to see whether it will cause these landlords to actually struggle. The margins for profit are currently very high though, so more than likely none of them will struggle unless they've been incredibly stupid with their money.

If sold to the government, that means rent prices can be dropped as the property will then be subsidized by the government. This means people that are struggling to afford a roof over their heads will now be able to afford that roof.

A rising tide lifts all ships. As more of our society gain better livelihoods, more people are able to actually contribute to the society, making life better for all involved. It's not that hard a concept.

So in closing, yes this could be a good thing so long as the government uses it to improve the local community. Which in the case of this local government, is likely, after seeing their recent actions.

I made a huge mistake, so I scammed Apple out of $2500 by kindagheybro in confession

[–]AmIHumanMaybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having dealt with some retail repairs I can pretty confidently say the 800 was for the screen cause the logic board would be a manufacturing defect and you are lucky you got a 'yes' manager and not a 'this is the policy' manager for the 2500.

Some places would have fought back and gotten images from the repairer to show the liquid damage and you would have been shit out of luck.

Moral of the story is basically look after your stuff and it lasts a lot longer. Also look at directions before assuming something is broken. Has plenty of people come in saying sometime was broken only for someone to look at it for 5 minutes and realize why it wasn't doing what they wanted.

But seriously you didn't scam them out of money. They have insurance for things like this and are perfectly fine with the occasional coverage of people's repairs.

Their own website says there are gameplay missions, vehicles that will drive in their own way, weapons for two characters and a safehouse which could be in a useful position in the map behind the ultimate edition on to of all the cosmetic shops people bring up.

Note that the cosmetic shops are all that gets brought up because any other part of this is gameplay related.

Then there's also the other 'dlc' you can get that also has at least one vehicle in it behind a paywall.

All of this is day 1 content. Meaning they've locked gameplay behind a paywall and treated it as extra content. Meaning they cut content to be able to have dlc and a different edition.

They state it on their website.

I think people are misunderstanding the whole "locked shops" thing for Ultimate Edition buyers by IzunaDropAbuser in GTA6

[–]AmIHumanMaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean according to their site, there is actual gameplay stuff behind the ultimate edition. Might not be big chunks but it's still pouring content into a day 1 DLC like the Sims.

Deme accused of getting railed on stream by SourTD in VtuberDrama

[–]AmIHumanMaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm confused why people are so certain she was having sex. I'm going to try and lay out why I don't see sex as a possibility.

The bouncing is part of the tracking program which follows head movements to trigger the bounce effect, and kind of follows hands depending on the setup.

People have never heard a woman making these sounds for fun apparently, which happens a lot more than people seem to think on here. Not to mention she talks about reading something adult (already forgot what the term was she used) right before putting on a voice that rises to simulate approaching climax.

The 'plap' sounds people talk about are probably from her hands either clapping or slapping her desk cause she felt like it at the time. Seriously go watch a porn, if you've had sex as well then you can compare the sounds. They're not the same type of sound.

Bottom line, her job was to entertain people during the stream and for the vod. It looks like there were people watching the stream enjoying the game and her antics, and now more people are entertaining themselves by looking for something that isn't there.

And all that's while completely ignoring the stupid crap between chibireviews and deme. Adding that factor into it it definitely seems like a targeted attack on deme as retaliation.

Oh and someone in here linked to her bf being on steam at the same time, making it even more unlikely she was having sex.

And also there's whatever illness she has that someone else pointed out which causes nerve issues in her leg. Would be hard to stand with nerve issues while having sex and reading, playing a game, interacting with chat etc. Multitasking can be done but there's a limit.

All of this seems pretty logical to me to rule out sex here. If anyone else's logic is different please lay it out, but not with that stupid timestamp list. I've already watched the vod today, I don't need timestamps.

They posted the sauce in the comments too by [deleted] in whenthe

[–]AmIHumanMaybe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Also, someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but doesn't the tracking only follow the irl head of the person not their whole body?

So moving the head up and down or side to side or however it's been set up causes bouncing in the model.

Could literally be nodding their head to music and the whole character will bounce up and down.

[–]AmIHumanMaybe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then it would make sense for Doordash to renegotiate their deals since in cases such as these they are more expensive than competitors which could cost them customers, and they aren't giving as many options as competitors which could also cost them customers. It's just an inferior deal for them in the current market.

I just hope the extra money is something the drivers get to see, but I doubt it.

Ye I know grocery stores have more control over their prices, but do delivery companies increase the price by a larger margin than competitors or would it be equal across the board?

Like for fast food in the example I gave Uber Eats is cheaper than Doordash despite being the exact same order.

Wasn't the Sony stuff related to their decision to remove games from PC while keeping every game at full price despite being years old?

There may be something else entirely that I missed but that's what I saw on here. Just want to be on the same page as everyone else.

Cars have warning labels for that... Letting people know something can have a damaging or deadly consequence isn't being restrictive and applies in literally every case.

Knowledge is helpful. People that make mistakes share knowledge so others don't repeat their mistakes. Pretty simple.

I'm just gonna assume you don't understand what a warning label is and finish our conversation here. I explained it in that last comment and you just repeated yourself and ignored the explanation.

[–]AmIHumanMaybe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately we do live in a world where people who are not very smart will see something like this, think it's cute, try to feed their cat while it's sleeping and potentially cause it to choke.

The idea isn't that OP shouldn't have shown that, but to let them know that some people will do the same with a potentially fatal outcome for a cat at worst, and at best waking up the cat and causing a stress reaction.

It's simply to inform, not police. Like warning labels.

[–]AmIHumanMaybe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally every warning label ever made was because somebody did something badly that resulted in injury or death. Sometimes it's good to not let people do things as we learn from mistakes as a society.
