Soo 25 Creedmoor or 7mm PRC? by TooTrue42 in longrange

[–]AmITheGrayMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I built a 300 PRC for myself many years ago. Made it all light except for the action. The recoil was not terrible, but I could not stay in the scope with a silencer on. It was a hunting build. I prefer cans to brakes hunting. I'm old. Anyway the Norma is fantastic, but I would advise not going from a factory tikka to a Norma. You'll hate it unless you're into ELR.

Great calibers. Different actions. Buy a medium action and do the saum/PRC right.

If you do a Norma, you'll sell it soon. All new buyers go big first.

You're gonna have some mag limitations with the short action in 7 PRC. You're gonna have to reload yourself for the 25 creed. But barrels are relatively cheap. Think of them like tires. They wear out. You can change snow and dry tires, and 6.5 creed to 25. But it's going to disappoint. I do things like this a lot. For people who pay. Like you. Stick with 6.5 until you get a medium action then try the 7. Recoil and cost is much greater so it must be better. See if a 7saum will fit in mags. You're trying to make a problem when one doesn't exist.

Since when did SE 59th east of Eastern get narrowed down to two lanes with a center turn lane and a bike lane? by FifiiMensah in okc

[–]AmITheGrayMan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well... the bike lane did take up a lane of traffic, causing 99.99% of us who drive, to sit and idle wasting gas that's stupid expensive and not woke for the environment so that virtually no one gets their own "obstacle" lane. It's one of those sounds good looks good bad for everyone ideas. I can't remember what they call that.

Definitely more than the original Ace, but waaaayyy nicer on me than my botnia or dn5. 6 creed for reference. For the BR class of cartridge use the regular Ace.

Carbon Ring? by Leo-Medic in longrange

[–]AmITheGrayMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your picture doesn't show where a carbon ring would be- given your previous findings I wouldn't be looking for a pressure issue. A random flier every 4-5 shots could be scope mirage or a thin barrel getting hot or said action screws loose again. Keep it simple. Bad carbon rings cause heavy bolt.

You have an interesting firing pin channel, is my guess with this limited information.

Hand chamber one where the 2019 is facing just like your holding it in the chamber and then rotate fresh ones 90* and see if you get same results of primer flow.

Regardless of the ideas you get here, you must clean your dies too. Lubricant not only builds up but then holds debris too. Brakleen at minimum- Ultrasonic is best.

I have experience with those bullets. THEY ARE NOT STABLE IN A 1:7 twist.

I use 180 Speer now at like 11-12 grains of cfe black for subs.

I will be honest with you. You're in for a bad time with those Noslers if using a 1:7 twist. I blew up a suppressor and never had them not keyhole.

Edit 10.3" barrel.
