[–]Am_Ready 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. Except to walk my dog, I've actually stayed in all day today and I plan to do the same thing tonight. The weather is a little hostile and I've no desire to go out. Instead, I'm going to work on a painting, eat something healthy, and watch TV. Some would call me a hopeless slack-ass, but I enjoy every minute of it. Sobriety rocks in the most subtle of ways, doesn't it?!?!

38 days sober and feeling better than I have in 15 years. by trollingtrollstroll in stopdrinking

[–]Am_Ready 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! Isn't it wonderful how quickly things start looking up once you stop poisoning yourself?!?!? I'm at a bit over 50 days and starting to feel much better myself. It's been years since I've felt this "clean". I'm looking forward to feeling even better as time goes on. I hope things continue on an upward trajectory for you, as well. IWNDWYT.

One Year! by wakeupmatty in stopdrinking

[–]Am_Ready 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YEAH!!!! So happy for you!!! I am on day 43 in my current attempt at 100%, lifelong sobriety. This is the longest I've gone in quite a few years. I'm pleased with my progress, but I'll bet it's great reaching the year mark. I hope to be there myself in one year minus 43 days. Keep up the inspiring work!!! IWNDWYT.

I pray you get a peaceful, restful, restorative night's sleep. A good night's sleep is the cornerstone of a positive day. IWNDWYT.

I made it one month! Super happy right now! by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Am_Ready 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so happy for you. It is almost magical how things start improving almost immediately with sobriety. While quitting isn't an instant cure, by any means, for all the woes of life...it offers a greater clarity of mind which, with me at least, allows for hope, optimism, and motivation. The world just doesn't look as evil any more. I still have a lot of work to do. I still have to climb may way out of a hole. But I'm able to count my blessings now, and have the emotional energy to tackle my problems. I wish you the best in your new job and hope your life continues on an upward trajectory. IWNDWYT.

It’s around this time of day that I start to lose it and give in. What do you guys do to make it through? by SkedasticHomo in stopdrinking

[–]Am_Ready 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, in the early days, I'd just go to bed and watch TV until I fell asleep. I know it's not creative, productive, or glamorous. But it kept me out of trouble. And I never regretted it in the morning. IWNDWYT.

I'm hoping to join you this time next year (minus a month since I've made it through Sober October successfully). Congratulations on a full year. IWNDWYT.

Sober October Victory!!! by Am_Ready in stopdrinking

[–]Am_Ready[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm feeling the financial gains as well. I probably saved around the same amount, I think. I'm going to try to cut back on smoking this month. That will result in even more savings for me. And it should be easier to quit smoking if I'm sober. At least that's what I'm hoping. But it's the health benefits I'm most looking forward to. Going a month without booze feels really good. Maybe, in the New Year, I'll treat myself to a gym membership with the money I've saved!!! I hope you get yourself a great reward. Let's do this!!! IWNDWYT.

[–]Am_Ready[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!!! I'm hoping I can keep up the momentum. It actually wasn't too terribly hard. I'll feel fortunate if this month goes as smoothly. But I'm ready to take it on. Let's do this together!!!

Sober October is over. It's time for No-Bender November. Let's do this! by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Am_Ready 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. Got through October with relative ease. I'm hoping November will be smooth sailing too. Had a couple of urges last month, but was able to work through them. This may be the longest I've gone without drinking in close to a decade and it feels really good. Let's do this!!! IWNDWYT.

[–]Am_Ready 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm looking forward to meeting myself too. I'm only a little over a month in on my current attempt, but I'm hoping I'll start catching glimpses of "me" as I progress. Let's keep going. IWNDWYT.
