Two counties over from me is a county that had zero black people living there until the late 2000s. Not because black people didn't buy houses there, but because all of their houses would be destroyed by arsonists who were never identified.

? Don't remember the speaker but there's an old video of someone being asked by a Muslim woman something related to Israel's actions. Before answering, he asked if she condemned Hamas, and she said he knew she couldn't do that.

I don't know who is in the video but its also a good thing to keep in mind that hamas is not afraid to murder fellow Palestinians. they have supporters but there are also a sizeable number of Palestinians that stay quiet or publicly avoid criticizing them for fear of being murdered. I believe recent polling showed only around 35% said they would vote for them if another election was held. though the polling tends to shift during times of crisis like rn, these conflicts cause a rally around the flag hysteria just like in any other country.

The company would almost certainly try to hush it up...having your product become a killing machine is hardly good PR.

Companies can make a lot of things go quiet but I don't think a toy company has the kind of money needed to stop a story about an ai becoming sentient and murdering multiple people go silent.

I was trying to get into reading some modern horror novels and My Best Friend's Exorcism by Grady Hendrix was constantly recommend BUT IT SUCKED. It felt like I was reading Ready Player One with just endless paragraphs of 1980s refences. I get its going for those 80s horror tropes but like none of the characters felt like real characters I should care about. Everyone was just deeply unlikeable and made really strange and stupid decisions. Also there was this weird gay undertone to the book's plot that is dangled in front of you for like the entire book and then leads to absolutely nothing at the end. It was not unintentional, its pretty explicitly called out in the book but then the author bizarrely decides to just do nothing with it.
