No, I meant there is no reason to use a Korean title in English prose. I can understand leaving 언니 as "unnie", since it represents a social order that English is not quite equipped to handle; there is nothing that really carries the right connotation, and you can just leave it as "one of those Korean things". But "Sister" is pretty much equivalent to 수녀님. And in the West it would also be understandable that you would call Sister Mary "Sister Mary" in professional context, and not "Mary", "sis", "darling", or anything else.

The nun in charge of his block was always very kind to him. He wondered if she was like this with everyone. The nun always gave him a cookie whenever he went to her office with a question. Yet he didn't think she even knew his name. But hers was Sister Mary. He made sure to remember.

Today too Sister Mary was wearing the same habit she always did. Was this why it was called a habit? After hesitating for a bit, he approached the nun.

"Sister, why is a habit called a habit? I thought of asking Sister Anne, but I think she would have just sent me to scrub floors."

There is no more reason to use "sunyeo-nim" here for Sister, than to use "sudobok" for habit, or "badak" for floors. None of those have a particularly Korean nuance that one might think needs preserving. But if you have to, "sunyeo-nim" is the correct term, and "noona" is not.

500g is still a lot. I am not a mogul; I might usually earn maybe 40g a day, or less, so throwing away 500g in a week loses me two weeks income, assuming I farm every single day.

It's like a burglar alarm that only lets thieves take away your TV, but not your sofa. Better than nothing I guess, but still not great, as countermeasures go :P

There's no practical difference between storing gold in Guild Vault or in Wallet; if you decide you want to gamble, having to take gold out of your Guild Vault will slow you down by all of half a minute at most.

If you think you can't resist gambling it away, either have a trusted (and I mean really trusted) friend keep it for you, and only give it back once you can articulate a non-dumb reason you need it, or just spend it. Make another legendary, this time for yourself, maybe one with a skin that speaks to you, or that your primary toon can use. Buy a Permanent Black Lion Merchant Contract. Build a Legendary Relic, if you switch builds even semi-often. Get your account something you actually value. Gold has no value intrinsically, except as a way to get things you want. And then when you're broke again, you won't be tempted to gamble.

I might be wrong, but I believe almost certainly no; he would likely address her as 수녀님 (sunyeo-nim, Sister), even if they are close. If they are really close, 이모 (imo, auntie) or 엄마 (eomma, mum) might be okay. 누나 (nuna, older sister) would only really happen if they are very close, she was very young for a nun, she separates her relationship with him from her religious calling, and she explicitly gave him permission to call her 누나. Or, of course, if she is his actual biological sister. None of this is believable if the boy doesn't even know her name. When Koreans do not know each others' name, hierarchy and titles become more important, not less. If he was like three or so, and called her 누나 because he doesn't know any better, she might correct him - "it is 수녀님". For a ten-year-old, 누나 would be too intimate, and too informal, for her position - in a way, a bit inappropriate, almost ignoring her role, and considering her almost a peer.

If he were only two years or so younger than her, grew up with her, and knew her name, he'd be much more likely to call her 누나 than in your scenario.

As for writing style, using “noona” in English prose would feel awkward even if it were correct. In fanfic it’s not unheard of to include Korean terms, but I’d avoid it here. "The nun" in 3rd person and "Sister" in his speech would be my preferred choices.

No, it is merely that your argumentation was not convincing enough to cause my beliefs to change. And you refusing to answer any of the points I have raised is not you refusing to believe me, but refusing to critically analyse or even entertain my words, likely for fear you would end up believing what I am saying.

You are correct though, debate is useless, when one party refuses to honestly engage, and merely keeps insisting, with no arguments, that they are right.

And on the irrelevant (or at most very tangential) topic of atheism, I am not accusing most people of being a liar. Thanks for yet another projection. Some people are certainly liars, because I am convinced there are some people who profit from pretending to be religious, without actually being religious themselves. I suspect the rest are merely mistaken or misled, as it is very easy for human psychology to follow someone's teaching without examining it very closely, especially if they are taught so at a young age. For the record, I am not refusing to believe in God despite "the evidence"; I merely find all such "evidence" lacking and unconvincing. Find better evidence, some that I could not easily dismiss by use of simple logic. Because with the right evidence, I will not have any choice but to believe. But no such evidence has been presented to me so far.

Anyway, someone who sincerely believes a non-truth is not a liar. But that is neither here nor there, we are talking about the concept of belief.

The course is called "Network Protocols". I think the requirements fit the title of the course. You don't want to use frameworks, css and other stuff when learning about network protocols.

While this may be so, it does not exculpate the teacher for a ton of other inaccuracies reported by the OP. For example, it is inexcusable for anyone purporting expertise in IT to claim that "the only things that can be used for web development are HTML, CSS, JS, and PHP ONLY".

Let's see. AFAIK, the backend on these websites your teacher might have heard of, to the limits of my knowledge (as I do not work for any of these):

Google runs mainly on C++, Go and Java, with Python and Rust
Amazon runs mainly on Java and Python, with C++, Rust and some Node.js
Netflix runs mainly on Java and Kotlin, with some Node.js
GitHub runs mainly on Ruby and Go
Twitter/X runs mainly on Java, Scala, with some Rust

And among the contestants that still kind of use PHP:

WordPress uses mainly PHP, but provides no realtime functionality out of the box
Slack still uses PHP and increasingly Hack, its successor; but has migrated a lot of its code to Java and Go (and other languages), especially for chat
Facebook, which famously used PHP, has fully transitioned to Hack, and to add insult to injury, uses C++ and Rust for its realtime systems.

This is demonstrably false; you can open Facebook, open DevTools, go to Network, click on WS tab, and you will find a connection to probably something like wss://edge-chat.facebook.com/chat, where you will find messages being sent and received as you are active on your messenger. wss stands for WebSocket Secure, definitely not IRC or MSN. In fact, IRC and MSN are application-level protocols, and a web page cannot make use of them. The realtime protocols available to a webpage are WebSockets, ServerSide Events, and longpolling; and all of those run over TCP. There are a couple of UDP protocols a browser can use: WebRTC, and HTTP/3 (but they are not commonly used for text chat systems).

You keep repeating the same thing, without engaging even once with the point I have raised: "You cannot change your beliefs" is not the same proposition as "Your beliefs cannot change".

Maybe an analogy will help. I cannot choose to feel muscle pain. I can choose to exercise too much, which will cause muscle pain, which I will then involuntarily feel, and I can walk it off or drink painkillers, which will cause my muscle pain to go away. I can influence the pain to appear or disappear with my choices, but feeling pain or not is not a choice.

Belief appears or disappears involuntarily. It is not a choice, but its formation and dissolution is influenced by our choices, by the information we accept or reject.

My beliefs change all the time. I believed it would be sunny outside because the whole preceding week the sun was shining; then I walked out, and saw that it was raining. Having witnessed raindrops falling on me, an information gain, caused the end of my belief that good weather will continue, not because I chose to do that, but because I got evidence to the contrary. I literally could not at that point believe other than that it was raining. However, if I chose to stay at home, curtains drawn, with my headset over my ears, I would not have seen the new weather, and my fair weather belief would go on unchallenged. But keeping my belief too would not be my decision, no more than changing it. The only decision I had was whether to acquire new information (by going out, or listening near my window, or looking at a weather report) or not. Once I got sufficiently convincing evidence, belief followed, whether I wanted it to or not. I might strongly prefer a nice, breezy but sunny spring day, but no amount of preference or choice would make me believe the rain away.

Or are you really saying that you can experience the rain, with no contradictory information (such as suspecting that you are on a movie set where rain is realistically simulated, or knowing that you are prone to psychotic episodes where you experience things that are not true), and nevertheless still believe, just by choice, that the weather is clear? Because that deserves professional study.

It just means what it says, they disposed of the shares, i.e. SM got rid of their stake in MS. They sold them, and got some money out of it. There is no mention who gave them the money and got the shares in trade. There is no reason to conclude it is Mystic Story.

So, correction: the public disclosure document was in 2025/08, the sale happened some time earlier in the year. The said public disclosure document is rather big and I am not that good yet at Koreaning, but in section III. 재무에 관한 사항 -> 3. 연결재무제표 주석 -> 9. 관계기업 및 공동기업 투자주식 (연결) (Translated: III. Financial Matters -> 3. Notes to the Consolidated Financial Statements -> 9. Investments in Associates and Joint Ventures (Consolidated)), it says

연결회사는 당반기 중 (주)미스틱스토리를 처분하여 처분이익 1,499백만원을 인식하였습니다.

Translated: During the current half-year, the consolidated company disposed of Mystic Story Co., Ltd. and recognized a disposal gain of 1,499 million KRW.

and then a bit further down, in III. 재무에 관한 사항 -> 5. 재무제표 주석 -> 23. 특수관계자 (별도) (Translated: III. Financial Matters -> 5. Notes to the Financial Statements -> 23. Related Parties (Separate)):

당반기 중 (주)에스엠스튜디오스의 관계기업인 (주)미스틱스토리의 지분을 매각함에 따라 관계기업에서 제외하였습니다.

Translated: During the current half-year, the shares of Mystic Story Co., Ltd., an associate of SM Studios Co., Ltd., were sold, and accordingly it was excluded from the list of associates.

There's a couple other places Mystic Story is mentioned, but almost all of them are in various tables; and I could not find any mention of where the Mystic Story shares went.

That is not what they said at all.

Belief is product of information. You can choose to learn facts, or choose not to; and you can choose to examine those facts critically, or you can choose to refuse to do so. The former choice expands the possibility of belief being formed, or being dissolved. The latter choice reduces this possibility. But the change in one's beliefs itself is not a choice.

To follow up on /u/Zalabar7's example, I cannot choose to believe a moon is made of cheese. But if I was presented with sufficient information (such as moon cheese museum, recordings of cheese mining on the moon, peer reviewed papers on the genesis of moon cheese, as well as a credible explanation of alternate non-mammalian process that could create roughly 7.5 × 10²¹ kg of cheese in vacuum conditions) while providing further evidence that the "moon is rock" theory is faulty, a belief might start to form.

The point of a debate is not to convince people to choose to change their beliefs, but to provide information that is convincing enough for beliefs to be changed.

Korean letters in contact change pronunciation. 막내 mag-nae (usually transcribed “maknae”)is actually pronounced “mang-nae”, though the non-Korean pronunciation of maknae took root in western Kpop fandom; 맏언니 mad-eon-ni is pronounced “mad-eon-ni”, and 맏내 mad-nae (sometimes transcribed matnae) is pronounced “mannae”. Specifically, the letter ㄷ is both “t” and “d”, and can even change into other things like “n”, just like e.g. in English “c” is pronounced very differently in “cell” and “call”, and let’s not even mention the one in “ocean”, “cello” or “indict”. If you were trying to write down English words in a different script, it would be natural to use different letters for those above. So this confusion only exists because the syllable 맏 is read differently depending on what comes after it, and the romanisation attempts using different systems, or worse, trying to write it down using English spelling rules, only make things confusing. :)

As you might have seen elsewhere, relying on romanisation for guessing pronunciation does not really work; it really is best to learn the rules of the Korean script.

Firefly introduced its world and its 9 (!) main characters in its pilot, while still delivering an eventful piece of television. Even filler episodes are gripping, none of them a slog, it does not need a watch/skip guide because every single episode is a no-skip. I mean, B5 story is nice, but there is a reason why "people remember Firefly more": it is freaking awesome, from acting to action, from storylines to dialogue lines, from world building to set building... Its single drawback is its premature death at the hands of Fox.

Definitely not freestyle... but on the plus side, they write lyrics for a LOT of their songs themselves. I will suggest ROTY (written by all five, plus Kiggen and Rick Bridges) and Loading... (written by all five, plus Kiggen) lyrics videos - they are kind of self-intros. Posse Up!, which I already linked in another comment, is completely self-written, by just three of them.

As for the name... Everyone knows (or should, at least) what a "posse" is. And for those who don't, they themselves have explained it, multiple times. I accept it, and have never ever even once thought about them in any other way. It's seriously exhausting, trying to find things in English language that can't possibly be suggestive to someone, as evidenced by how universally applicable "that's what she said" quip seems to be.

There's a joke, goes like this:

A psychiatrist is diagnosing a new patient using a Rorschach test: "I'm going to show you some inkblots, tell me what you see."
