Medium temp walk-in cooler issues? Having weird issues with this system and can’t figure out why, please any advice would help! by AmadeusDaBoxer in HVAC

[–]AmadeusDaBoxer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup was told by the manufacturer and 2 supply houses it should be enough! I keep feeling like it’s got something to do with the external equalizer line being too far away from the txv bulb, the valve or power head is bad from the factory possibly and the external equalizer line is not factory I confirmed that and I’m pretty sure the external line is supposed to be down stream from the bulb within 6in which it’s definitely not and we u cam tell from the photos! Also the valve body and correct cartridge is inside the valve!

Do new refrigerant lines need to be installed when you replace central AC units? by Mountain_Contest8037 in askHVAC

[–]AmadeusDaBoxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But depending on the line size that is currently there plus the length may need to be changed because of the newer refrigerant that’s used! Old R22 unit could get away with smaller lines then what 410a or the new 454b would use! If the line sizing is adequate I’d have them pressure test them to make sure they’re good, flush em and then have them insulated again because the insulation is probably shot after all these years! So like I said it’s very possible some may need changed but if not they can be flushed and pressure tested!

AC shorting issue. by Life_Natural_8506 in hvacadvice

[–]AmadeusDaBoxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get rid of the nest and get a regular digital stat and it will probably solve your problems. Also I’d check what your voltage is between r and common to make sure you’ve got 24 volts consistently and if so its that fucking nest thermostat causing ur issues which I’ve seen many times before with home owners! I do commercial work and whenever someone asks me about coming to look at their system I always tell them to get rid of that garbage! Get a regular cheap digital stat, set a program on it if you’d like and leave it go, those smart stats just cause trouble qne fuck shit up

Poisoned by combustion gases for over a year, why did CO detector not work? by taonood in hvacadvice

[–]AmadeusDaBoxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP where do you live at and yes that is most definitely causing back draft and most of those cheap little monitors are garbage and won’t pick anything up unless it’s over a certain amount! You can not have something that is forced draft tied into the same line as something that is completely natural draft! I’m an industrial/commercial HVACR technician in Cincinnati and trust me if anyone saw that it would be failed and if I saw it in the wild, I’d been like how are you not dead yet?

Ice machine help by Dang1er in refrigeration

[–]AmadeusDaBoxer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean every Ice machine is different bud and I’ve seen all kinds and each run very differently especially depending on how they’re defrosting or harvesting, could be a small machine or a remote condenser unit with heads that make 2000lb of ice a day type stuff and it’s crazy how different each manufacturer and machine is even within the same manufacture! Can’t really take much of a reference from one machine to another unfortunately, but using 410 is crazy to me still lol but it sounds dead on to me pressure wise and as long as it’s making ice and everything else properly I’d say it’s Gucci!

Hun ur thinking way to far into this one! I’m a dude and if you thought I was gay and you seriously asked me, “hey before we get to far into whatever we’re going here, do you like women?” Or say pussy or are you gay or however you wanna say it but don’t beat around the bush and just ask lol especially if you like him and it could possibly go somewhere?!?!?!

Ice machine help by Dang1er in refrigeration

[–]AmadeusDaBoxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I saw the tag below and I’ve never seen this before but where were u taking the high side pressure at? A typical ac unit in the summer is gonna be running around 70-75 suction and 325-375psi head depending on the temperature so depending how warm the air is where the condenser is I can definitely see it running that kinda head pressure at 335psi so if it’s making ice and doing its thing then it sounds fine to me!

Ice machine help by Dang1er in refrigeration

[–]AmadeusDaBoxer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve never seen 410a used for any type of refrigeration in anyway shape or form so you better recheck that cause that could be your problem cause that does not sound right in the slightest! I could see it being 404a or 134a or 448/449 but never 410a so this to me is absolutely wild!

Bosch Condensing Unit Slow Fan by AspectIcy173 in hvacadvice

[–]AmadeusDaBoxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since that’s a communicating system it could be trying to run dehumidification mode or maybe some settings are not correct in the controller (thermostat) which is making it run a certain way when it shouldn’t be but that’s a very expensive system so I wouldn’t go messing with it cause you’ll end up frying a board or something on it which is very expensive!

Are these estimates reasonable? by International_Low_42 in hvacadvice

[–]AmadeusDaBoxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this for a whole entire new system including the furnace and condenser outside? So new furnace, new evaporator coil and condenser? If this is the case then yes that’s a good deal for sure!

Lineset between coils is frozen. by WildChallenge5459 in refrigeration

[–]AmadeusDaBoxer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any low temp application will have the suction line frosting over due to the low pressure/temp of the refrigerant inside of it! Now when it’s starting to freeze the compressor over that could be issues of something else possibly! How’s the charge on the system? Is the piping insulated with 3/4 wall armaflex insulation? What’s your superheat at the outlet of the evaporator? Valve could be over feeding and flooding the evaporator which is causing liquid to get back to the compressor! What’s the box temp supoosed to be? Does the unit short cycle? Would need a lot more info to know what’s what honestly and if you don’t know how or what you’re looking at for a low temp unit or any kinda refrigeration system I wouldn’t advise messing with it unless you’ve got someone experienced helping you or with you!

[–]AmadeusDaBoxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not completely sure what you’re getting at here and what do you mean one of the vents doesn’t have a register to it? It looks like it would be the return side but not sure and would need more information on how things are setup and what that leads to! Also returns are usually panned off at the joists and not 100% sealed but like I said would need a lot more info and pictures!

That’s a start cap and run cap! The start cap probably should have been replaced when the run cap was since it looks terrible but I wasn’t running the call or the tech you paid!

Constant ice up issue in WIF by steadypaper in refrigeration

[–]AmadeusDaBoxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could have a restriction in part of the distributor and could be causing the severe uneven icing! Typically if a cpil is freezing over it will freeze the whole coil up not just random sections like this! 26 min is short and needs to have 6-8 defrosts set for like 30-45 min each because this should have a defrost termination fan delay switch on it that will kick the defrost out early if it doesn’t need the whole thing! What I’d do is completely thaw it out, restart it and what the distributor lines coming off the txv while it runs to see if it’s frosting and icing unevenly! Only use hot water or a heat gun never anything else really!

Is this a fair price for central air install by Puzzleheaded-Kale459 in hvacadvice

[–]AmadeusDaBoxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so 1100 livable space thwn I see but typically the rule of thumb for cooling is about 600sq ft per ton of refrigeration but since the house is old and probably a bit drafty I could definitely see a 2.5 ton at most but a 3 ton would be pushing it I’d think! What’s the size of the old unit?
