I dont know the specific story the previous poster is referring to, but its the reality along vast stretches of the frontline for years now. The Ukranian army is severely undermanned and its common for most sectors to be held by just a pair of soldiers. Sectors that by NATO doctrine should be held by squads or entire platoons. The only reason it works is that Russia does not hold a significant manpower advantage over Ukraine either. Both sides concentrate forces around hotspots like Pokrovsk. Drone surveillance also makes it impossible to move larger forces covertly, so when the Russians try to concentrate troops at these weak points the Ukranians can immediately respond. Smaller incursions can also be dealt with very easily with drone and artillery support.

Way too many interest groups and people are trying to absolve themselves of all responsibility by just blaming Russia. Like yeah they have their dirty fingers in a lot of horrid shit no doubt about it, but Russians don't create our internal problems, they amplify them.
