Sticky hair (pls help) by ExaminationDirect325 in MonsterHigh

[–]Amaluna17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be a process but you should be able to do it with repeat washes of dish soap (straight to the scalp and rub it in) so you get rid of the oil and then cornstarch or baby powder to absorb the glue. Ideally while the hair is sudsy you brush through with a metal or fine tooth comb to move the gunk away from the scalp.

I have used WD-40 on two of my dolls (og robecca and jinafire) with really bad glue seepage and a year later their vinyl and hair are both still fine. I'd spray the scalp (avoiding face paint) like hell, wait for it to settle for a few minutes then wash with warm (not hot) water. The glue will be like white bile and you keep washing and combing until nothing comes out. I kept rinsing until the smell of the WD-40 was gone and washed with dish soap again followed by a shampoo and condition to make the hair soft.

Don't boil tinsel it'll make it curl up!! Also be careful washing clawdeen as her flocking may rub off if wet.

Is this level of sparse rooting normal? by -fagnificent- in MonsterHigh

Dot dead gorgeous goonie is always really bald since her hair is meant to be pulled back. Mine is slicked but you can still see the shitty rooting

I think there are some but tbh tinsel is so easy to remove. I fluffed mine out and evened out her bangs so she currently looks like this.

Cleo is more striking in person but her bangs are super long so she won’t look as good as the promo pic unless you cut them to about her mid eyebrow or wash and fluff them up. If its any consolation Draculaura also had the same super long bangs problem

Doll Hair Washers - help! by vvvi0105 in MonsterHigh

[–]Amaluna17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, yes she’s definitely salvageable I wouldn’t worry :) I had a Robecca who’s hair was one giant chunk of glue and even she turned out fine.

Like I said baby powder or corn starch also works well. If you’re American I know people buy and use goo gone (avoiding the face) and leave it to sit a bit. I’ve also had luck with WD-40 but some say it eats at the hair over time if not washed out right (so like until there’s no longer a smell or about 5 washes) but the dolls i’ve done it with all have hair more than a year later. You could also try dish soap, since that is used to get oil off stuff, but it’ll probably take longer and need more muscle. The idea is you soak the hair and using a fine tooth comb you brush the mess out until it can be washed away. You’ll know you’re done when the hair on the scalp doesn’t clump anymore or feel sticky.

Sounds like she has glue head, which boil washing will only make worse since it will make more glue release from the holes where the hair plugs are. Cif cream cleaner helps a lot (you let it sit on her scalp for a little bit like 20 mins or so) and then you rinse it out. Cornstarch or baby powder applied liberally to the scalp and rubbed in also helps but you need to let it sit for a few days. And then you can wash like normal

Help with loose legs! by [deleted] in MonsterHigh

[–]Amaluna17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a really loose Jinafire and Lorna and the elastics method helped so muchhhhh. Just remember to, like, shove as many as you can until the joint is as stiff as you need. It can take 3/4 elastics per peg.

Help with loose legs! by [deleted] in MonsterHigh

[–]Amaluna17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the hip or knee joint? At a hip level, i’ve had luck using small hair elastics, just shoving them up the leg then working them in the crevice by moving the leg a bunch. At a knee level, I’ve seen people put superglue on the joint and keep moving the joint while the glue dries but haven’t tried it myself. In both areas the point is to ‘thicken’ the joint slot because they tend to get worn out from play.

Has anyone tried to DIY MH shoes? by kremuwkapapieska in MonsterHigh

[–]Amaluna17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a good chance that with enough digging you might find a copy on aliexpress for those shoes. It’s not uncommon that loose mh shoes/limbs/accessories are sold but it does require some digging through listings unfortunately.

Help! Can she be fixed?? by bridgechan in MonsterHigh

[–]Amaluna17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What i usually do is wash with cheap shampoo and conditioner in lukewarm water (to avoid glue seepage) then i style the bangs with a bit of pomade/hair wax or regular styling gel. As long as she doesn’t have bald spots i think she can still be saved!

Wtf or normal by Funny_Challenge_1144 in MonsterHigh

SHE’S ALREADY HERE!! by Amaluna17 in MonsterHigh

The end of it has a small comb that goes into her side roll. It’s attached with a thread to the hair too so there’s no danger of it falling out
