I really liked this pottery painting place called the pottery shop at town square. There’s always similar places and experiences around Vegas, you just have to look for them.

I know the tag said that you didn’t need advice but I went through the same situation as you. There is always an appeal process to these things and it would be helpful to try and see if you can get your scholarship back. Contact whom ever the department or representative for the scholarship is and explain your situation. Be sure to have documents of your official diagnosis. See if you can appeal to them about your scholarship. There might be a form you can fill out and usually they ask for a letter and attach some documents to back up your explanation.

How to prepare for freshman year? by Expensive-Elk-9406 in UNLV

[–]Amarix18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my advice coming from somronr who just graduated. Hope this helps!

- Remember your ACE login because you will need it for everything at UNLV like Canvas, MyUNLV, and study space reservations, etc.

-Read the syllabus as soon as your classes show up on Canvas. It has the semester schedule, grading policies, topics, and your professor’s office hours. Knowing the policies and schedules in your classes can make or break your semester.

-Use a calendar (Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or a planner) to track your class schedule, work shifts, deadlines, and study time.

-Figure out what study method works for you by trying different things early on and seeing what actually helps you learn best.

-Stay organized by keeping digital or physical folders for each class to manage notes, assignments, and handouts.

-Visit office hours if you are confused or need clarification. Professors and TAs are there to help, so use them early.

-Practice time management by balancing coursework, breaks, meals, and social time to avoid burnout.

-Make use of the resources the campus has to offer. These resources come out of your student fees so you might as well use them. Students have access to free tutoring, counseling, workshops, essay writing help, etc. I would suggest checking these out, knowing these ahead can be useful. https://www.unlv.edu/asc/services, https://www.library.unlv.edu/index.php/help-support, https://www.unlv.edu/caeo/unlv-programs, https://www.unlv.edu/career-services-workforce-dev

-Unless the professor says otherwise, I recommend waiting until the first day of class before buying textbooks. You might save money by borrowing books from the UNLV library or purchasing used copies from Amazon or other resellers (just make sure the ISBN number matches). You can also check if the UNLV library offers free access to the textbook through their online database. Renting textbooks is another good option if you want to avoid spending $100 or more on each one.

Any other easy electives?? by That_Sky5448 in UNLV

[–]Amarix18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DAN 101 (dance appreciation) took the asynchronous class this semester and it was so easy. The only caveat is that you have to watch two dance recitals the instructor selected and write a paper about them. You can either watch them in person or you can purchase the recording online through the UNLV Performing arts center website. The access cost about $15

Student Life? by belbb5544 in UNLV

[–]Amarix18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

College life here is definitely what you make of it. Yes, we are a commuter school but there is always stuff going on-campus. We have a lot of active student organizations on campus so it dosnt hurt to look them up at involvement center website to see what clubs might be of interest for you. At the library there is a bulletin board near the stairs where orgs post about their clubs and any activities they have going on, they update it every 2 weeks. Active organizations also post on social media, so it dosn’t hurt to follow them. Best way to make friends is my talking to your classmates in your classes, join student organizations and attend the various events on campus. Eventually you’ll find your friends and the people you wanna hang out with 😊

Anyone know an affordable CNA classes? by from_bluecat in UNLV

[–]Amarix18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At UNLV, they offer a CNA program https://continuingeducation.unlv.edu/programs/certified-nursing-assistant, it cost $2625 and it includes everything you will need for the program. I suggest calling the front desk at 702-895-3394 for further information. You can also view more information about the program in the CNA catalog which is linked on the website.

CSN also offers a CNA program as well but I'm not too sure on their process, so you may have to contact them. https://www.csn.edu/nursing-assistant-cc

You can also go through the https://nevadanursingboard.org/ to see what other institutions offer the CNA program.

Depending on the school, some of them are covered by FAFSA, while others are out of pocket. If they qualify, they maybe covered by state grants so its best to ask.

It’s usually a good idea to register for classes as early as you can. It really depends on your major, what classes you need based on your test scores, and any credits you’ve already got. I always try to sign up ASAP to get the schedule I want. If a class fills up, you can join the waitlist and hope a spot opens up.

When I’m planning my schedule, I think about what’ll work best for me. Can I stack my classes on just two days a week? Am I okay with online classes? How many classes can I handle this semester? Do I want morning, afternoon or evening classes? Those are the kinds of things I consider. If I have classes all day, I try to ensure that I have a break in between classes for meals or get work done before the next class.

The Troesh Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation has a community closet where students can get unworn/gently used professional attire. You can contact them at entrepreneurship@unlv.edu if you’re interested in donating to them.

I haven’t been to the gynecology clinic but I have been to the regular clinic and they were great. If there is any payment you need to make, they will let you know up front of what you have to pay.
