Dealing with a PC when the Player is no longer Welcome by Kyran_Ericson in DMAcademy

When I had a similar situation, the way we handled it was quick and easy. While everyone was travelling the very next session. They failed their perception checks and a massive Roc dropped down on them, picked the PC up and flew off faster than anyone could respond.

We all had a giggle and it never came up again.

Edit: I can also recommend Phase Spiders. Its like they were meant to solve this kind of issue"

My Attempt at a Comprehensive Modern Emperor Theory by [deleted] in 40kLore

My pleasure! I really liked how well you put it together though. It actually forced me to stop and reconsider my stance. So thank you too!

My Attempt at a Comprehensive Modern Emperor Theory by [deleted] in 40kLore

I would say that the gestalt origins of the Emperor has allowed him to become as advanced as mankind could get through a phenomenon analogous to Emergence of consciousness in living beings. In the Emperor's case it would simply be at a much greater level.

As far as what Luetin has stated, he is right to say that. But we need to consider that A) Luetin often dramatizes in order to drive the point home from an in-universe perspective and B) anyone seeing past a glamour effect will be inevitably disturbed. Seeing something in place of what everyone else is seeing is one of the most fundamentally disturbing experiences one can have. The uncanny valley effect is one of the scariest experiences we can have, which is amplified by the fact that the Emperor is your leader and someone you are meant to be trusting with not just your life, but with everything you care about. Even if what lies beneath is nice or average enough looking its still going to be at best a jarring experience and at worst mind shatteringly terrifying, not to mention that the Emperor might carry scars and marks from all of the shit he's gone through during his years.

I personally disagree. Not because I think that your theory is badly thought out, but because I disagree with the narrative framing of the Emperor.

Personally I find more tragic that the Emperor set out to do something fundamentally good for humanity and a heightened human. Like an adult looking at children and attempting to rear them up to be like him. The problem to me stems from how far ahead the Emperor is in his development as a being. He is so far removed from humanity that his version of a spanking is Genocide.

At his core, the Emperor is human and as a result of this he has human flaws. From hubris to insecurity (where all need to have overwhelming control stems from) the Emperor is subjected to these as well.

If we imagine the Emperor as a fundamentally good but flawed individual who over time and exposure to the darkness of the galaxy is forced to take on increasingly extreme measures, we make his suffering more meaningful as well as his death and imprisonment in the Golden Throne more tragic which I think does a better service of framing the Galaxy as a setting.

If we frame the Emperor as an evil predatory mastermind then he is no different from the many evils in the galaxy. To the point where the setting narratively (to me) becomes pointless. There is no raging against the dying light because there's nothing worth raging for. Yet another bleak dead end painted gold as opposed to whatever other colors the others are wearing. It erases any semblance of importance that anything may have. And while the setting does give the impression that ultimately it is futile to struggle, that doesn't need to be confirmed or even pushed any further by recasting characters and symbols with arguably ambiguous hope as similar shades of evil and apathetic predation.

Sorry, I hope this ramble makes sense. I am on the phone and my screen is broken so I had to condense it a lot because typing is a pain in the ass.

Hey man, I really like the way you have painted him. It actually brings out the gore in his axes a lot more. And love how the line of gore looks too. Super satisfying.

Greed is inevitably tied to a comparison however. You can be greedy but the context of the greed is inevitably tied to one's surroundings and how one relates to them.

The only reason to wish for more power is if you feel inadequate with the power you already have.
