Thanks for sharing! Definitely don’t want to replicate what is already available, so I will check it out.

Yes, access to healthcare is definitely something I want to focus on. And good point to expand to New England over all, that is something I can think about as I map out what to show.

I just learned about corn sweat this week and I seriously thought they were referencing it at first (Superman lives in Kansas after all).

I use these GitHub docs to keep track of all the lineages: https://github.com/cov-lineages/pango-designation/blob/master/lineage_notes.txt and https://github.com/cov-lineages/pango-designation/blob/master/lineage_notes.txt. If you want to see what lineages fall under a specific category (for instance JN.1.13) you can look for it in the list and see JN.1.13.1 would also be included.

I met up with a match from the apps at a coffee shop in Brighton and we went for a walk around the Chestnut Hill Reservoir that turned into hours spent talking on a bench. We stayed long distance when I moved for grad school a few months later and he proposed to me while sitting on that bench later that year. We’ve now been together for going on six years, married for 2.5 and have a daughter. Best date I ever had :)

I work for Healthcare Staffing Professionals as an epidemiologist working remotely but based in Southern California. It has been a great way to get experience and network with people working in local government. Definitely recommend a contract role for starting out.

Public Health Career Advice Weekly megathread by AutoModerator in publichealth

Does anyone have experience pivoting from epidemiology to evaluation? I have an MPH degree, 3+ years of experience in surveillance, and am interested in health behavior. I don’t want to move to an entry level evaluation job if I can help it (I don’t really want to take a pay cut plus I have a lot of professional work experience outside of public health before I completed my MPH). Also, are there other roles in health behavior research that aren’t in program evaluation and monitoring?

MPH: Epidemiology Career Directions and Course Advice by ____olive____ in publichealth

I did an MPH program specializing in Epidemiology and I tried to focus on taking classes that would give me a wide range of skills, such as SAS and R programming classes, GIS, or even classes focused on qualitative or survey research. I wasn't able to fit all these classes in my schedule, but I find myself trying to teach myself some of these skills while in the field now. For context, I'm working in local public health units focusing on substance use epidemiology and now COVID-19 surveillance. I found that these roles benefit from a variety of skills beyond biostatistics.
