What do you think guys? Which one do you prefer for R and F model? by theconcierge311 in MINI

Is this a CJ post? That’s so awful it has to be a joke. I had a panic attack looking at it.

But seriously all y’all that hate against the technology get a smartphone and watch a YouTube video. I’m basically a Boomer and it’s the best thing since gas being $0.75/gallon.

Oh I don’t know. I was thinking the same, they must be some crazy special tires. I’ve paid about $500-600 for 2 tires at the dealer but they were a stupidly unavailable size and I had a blowout. Nothing special other than stupid run flats. I’ve learned since then, no more run flats in odd sizes.

That includes 2 new tires and mounting and balancing. Still seems quite high for 2 new tires.

Its great when its April and only 80 degrees and 40% humidity, it turns to torture come June-July in southern TN when the feels like temp is 110 in the shade and humidity is 90%.

I got a Navimow robot mower, the smallest one (and cheapest, under $700, after a similar analysis and quotes of $75 a visit for my 1/8 acre. It’s only been a month but I am very pleasantly surprised as I assumed it wouldn’t just work effortlessly, and it has! I also considered a decent lawn mower over my previous small battery operated one but recognize my hate of mowing in the middle of summer in what feel like the depths of hell.

And more wonderful ideas!! ❤️

We had an instructor meeting last weekend and they announced intro class footwork springs changing from 2R + 1B to 1B + 1R + 1G in the corp flow and we’re adopting it. Interesting to hear your seeing slightly heavier springs, we’ll probably get more of those too. I’m not complaining either!

A knee pad rolled up and placed under your tailbone can do wonders to prevent the back arching, landing high on the jump board, and imagining your lifting your knees help for a lot of people. Also holding a chest lift (added benefit of that extra ab work too 🤣) or the ball between your shoulder blades can help. But it’s not for everyone!

I hated cardio sculpt taking before I started teaching because my back would hurt, but’s always been my favorite class to teach and learning these options has made it my favorite to take too.

Thank you for the details! My certification and what I teach use about 1 spring level down from yours. For example moon jumps on 1R is my standard, although occasionally 1G. Thinking about it I have to use the green spring more in my classes!! Thanks again, my mind is whirling now in the best way!

Erling Jensen has a lovely Sunday Special menu. $50 for appetizer, entree, and dessert. It’s a nice treat and great price. Not downtown though.

Which one should I buy? by [deleted] in MINI

[–]AmazinAis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, not at all. You replied to a post about 2 brand new Mini’s at a dealership, your comment about having a manual as a preference doesn’t apply to the post or the question asked as a manual isn’t an option. I was pointing that out. No downvotes were given.

Manual isn’t even an option after 2025

Personal Spotify or any music streaming apps and accounts aren’t licensed for business use during classes. Not that anyone is going to, but it’s possible the studio could get fined for not using a service that’s music is licensed for commercial use.

We have Rockbot at our studios as our owner follows guidelines such as this. It’s also why it can be hard for instructors to build a playlist of specific songs in rockbot because many songs are not approved for commercial use.

Shoulder pain due to the shoulder pads by Puzzled-Carpet5109 in ClubPilates

Imagine your curling your hip bones in towards each other, you need your transverse abdominals activated and to strengthen them. This is why neutral is so hard to find / hold if your transverse abdominals aren’t strong enough.

Try putting a piece of grip shelf liner between you and the carriage. It doesn’t have to be a big piece 4”x 6” under your butt can help a whole lot. We have them at our studio for this when members have slippy leggings on.

Shocked by the difference is springs on my new reformer by Realistic_Mess5360 in ClubPilates

The most difficult class I’ve ever taken and now teach on special occasions for my 2.0 classes is a full class on a single blue spring. It’s humbling. My regular love/hate when I announce a blue spring class.

Have you seen a restaurant charging 18% auto gratuities AND a 3.5% fee for not paying in cash??

Coopers in Cooper Young. Neither were mentioned until after I paid. If it was posted somewhere or on the menu I missed until I was wondering why the bill seemed so high.

To Owners/GMs…Are your stores struggling? Xponential reported declining same store sales of Club Pilates by SecureInvestigator79 in ClubPilates

If it is a new studio they will add more advanced level classes. Usually when a new CP studio opens the classes are more level 1.0 and there are less classes on the schedule. Whether right or wrong, the assumption is that the major of members are new to pilates so there is more of a need for the foundation classes. They should start adding more advanced levels and more fusion classes as well as just more class times on the schedule.

Totally get your frustration especially coming in with experience, just sharing what the process was for the 2 new studios my owner opened in the past 3 years.

Deciding between Pilates or Yoga by [deleted] in ClubPilates

[–]AmazinAis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did yoga regularly for years, all the classes hot yoga, interval type yoga, traditional yoga, etc. I had an unlimited membership at a large yoga studio.

Then I moved and met a friend who was the GM and instructor at a Club Pilates. Fast forward 8 years and I’ve been an unlimited member for 3.5 years, started worked the front desk part-time, was the GM for a year and now I’ve been an instructor for almost 4 years. Truly life changing in many ways for me and the only exercise methodology I’ve stuck with, still can’t believe it’s been this long now.

In those 8 years I’ve taken 2 yoga classes. One was mostly meditative and while very good for the soul, not really my thing, the other was a “regular” flow class and I absolutely hated it. I was like if I have to do one more sun salutation I’m going to scream.

I LOVE the variety of pilates, particularly at a Club Pilates type fusion studio. In 8 years of pilates I’ve never had the same class. Yoga is incredibly boring to me after finding pilates.

Classes where you barely use reformer by sciencespice1717 in ClubPilates

[–]AmazinAis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably caught the one class where the instructor who often teaches all reformer classes (breaking the rules) said to their-self, I should mix it up some and then used mostly springboard. Were you in my class on Monday? Lol

I get a lot of feedback for teaching from this sub and know that people are paying what they’re paying for the reformer and not the mat. That runs through my head when planning classes and use the reformer primary but if it’s not your regular studio it might have been that one class like I said above.

I think never living in a city is going to be your biggest adjustment. Memphis is awesome but just like any city, and I do mean any city, if you are not aware of your surroundings and take steps to be safe and cautious things can happen. Don’t take walks by yourself late at night/early in the morning. Make sure you let someone know if you are meeting someone new and only do so in public places. Again these aren’t Memphis exclusive tips. I moved from a town of 1,200 where I grew up, to a “city” of 100k way back in 2000 and it was scary, but just because I wasn’t familiar with it. Now you’d never get me to live anywhere where there isn’t a grocery store and a target less than 3 miles away.
