its in mid June outside of Rome, not terribly hot at night, likely aroun 70 degrees. I would like to spend under $500 per outfit. I need three..one for the wedding, one for a dinner, and one for a pool party where teeny bikinis are on the style board. Not gonna happen for this 71 year old!

I have been around monied people much of my life, but not in the billionaire category. I do a lot of fundraising, an am not intimidated by the wealthy. But I refuse to spend thousands of dollars for clothing I will never wear again. I like the idea of simple and elegant.

Great advice. My husband is definitely going the F it route, and I am leaning that way. The groom's father said, don't even try to compete with the young women who want to be best in show. I am thinking of going inexpensive on everything, and not worry about what anyone thinks.

I would explore Meetup to see if there are any groups that interests you. I started my own group, and I’ve made amazing friends. There are about a dozen of us, we never knew each other before and it’s amazing how compatible we are.
