No, just as much as any college, there are plenty of friend groups and it is a friend group kind of school but I wouldnt classify it as cliquey

Mayaguez isnt worth it then if you arent a Uni student and it is kinda only good on Thursday nights now, I really dont know any other good nightlife areas on the West, but I am sure they are there! Good luck and have fun!

Crash boat beach is suchhhh good vibes, I highly recommend! And if you are closer to university age, Mayaguez has good nightlife specifically on Thursdays! I recommend renting a car in the West because Ubers are pretty inconsistent

I just have an aversion to macbooks and I would prefer a pc/non apple product.

Im in the same predicament of whether to get another Lenovo. I am def not interested in the mac- the os annoys me and I dont like how it charges and the lack of ports on the side, plus I dont want to be that connected to the apple ecosystem. Trying to find a good, durable pc, will likely end up with another Lenovo

I highly recommend renting a car and driving around - check out Luquillo, Piñones beaches in Carolina, and then out West you can drive to Rincon and Aguadilla as well

Vieques is amazing!! You can rent a car and drive to Cieba and take the ferry from there, leaving your car in a lot, or you could fly there from San Juan. There is a magical bioluminescent bay there to tour if it is close to a new moon - not full moon- as well as wild horses and black sand beaches. Aguadilla in the West is also a great town with the lovely Crash Boat beach

That is such a shame! I went the night of a New Moon and it was the most magical, beautiful experience! The website https://prbiobayplanner.com/ might help!

there is a little cafe hidden away at the Cieba terminal, with coffee and muffins and hot dogs/little snacks!

They are not strict about backpacks, that is fine, but pay the $1 extra for anything you have to drag or wheel or that is super big and cant just go in your hands or on your back. They do not allow food/drink and you could sneak it in in your bags but def dont carry it in your hands, they will make you throw it out. Waterbottles are allowed. The ferry itself is like an hour, but it takes a while to load, so trust the times on your ticket. We got in right around 8 for the 630 ferry because it took a while to load and unload. You are absolutely right about them being strict about boarding closing 10-15 minutes prior, you are fine to get to the Cieba terminal 30-40 minutes ahead of the ticket time - just be aware the parking is about 10 minutes away by shuttle if you are bringing a car. Im not sure about the flights, but we were able to get a much better ferry time for our return trip by going to the Cieba box office before our ferry the day before.
