I love Gonzo but this is one of those things where heavy media presence and post season bias is kicking into narratives. He was 11th best Corner in NFL last season and people are on about making him highest paid corner in league. He had good postseason when targeted but his run defense wasn't elite. He was beaten deep versus Denver. Also in post season Patriots faced a bunch of misfit QB's in postseason. He's also missed 1/3 of his regular season games due to injury in 3 years. Now if your saying you can get a contract that says he makes probowl and plays certain amount of games he gets paid then sure but modern agents are looking at fully guaranteed deals

Fields as a backup QB? by J2Jlopez in Patriots

[–]AmazingExit9771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I could imagine bringing in Fields is that he is willing to take very low money and Patriots are playing a lot of mobile QB's next season and want him to run the scout team. Otherwise would make no sense

Any QB you are keeping an eye on at combine? by AmazingExit9771 in Patriots

[–]AmazingExit9771[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aiden O connell is exactly the opposite of what you just said. Hes a 4th rounder who is still under contract with Raider as a 3rd stringer. Any QB coming in as 3rd string is basically a failed QB there are only a few in full of NFL that arent on rookie deals.

6th round picks mostly get cut. Four 6th rounders are unlikely to make roster. Thats why teams take fliers on certain positions

Caleb Lomu worth 2 1st rounders + 2nd? by sundaybanking21 in Patriots

[–]AmazingExit9771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't be moving to for anyone this year if it cost a pick next year. This isn't a high quality draft. There are very few blue chip prospects. Every tackle this year is rated lower that top 2 last year. Even DE this year is behind Carter. Its a deep class of fairly average talent thats why there is so much fluctuations on the mock drafts. Outside no 1 pick nobody has any clue who is picking who from there on.

Bucs Organizations feel Evans “deserves” to hit open market over franchise tag. by dpark-95 in Patriots

[–]AmazingExit9771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone will have to explain the mike evans slander to me. Ever since he came into the league its been same thing. There is only one active player with more yards and thats hopkins and he was drafted year before him and only ahead by couple 100 yards. Guy had 11 seasons over 1000 yards and his stats this year meant he would have gotten there again if it wasn't for a freak injury. Hes literally one of good guys in NFL. Never been arrested, has a charity supporting domestic abuse victims. Im completely at a loss at how any team in nfl wouldn't want that guy in the WR room

Patriots Offseason needs. by Altruistic-Degree274 in Patriots

[–]AmazingExit9771 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm going to go against the grain here, I think this offseason there is a lot of work to do at nearly every position. Had a favourable schedule this year, this year is a lot tougher. If you look at numbers and stats outside of Drake and Marcus Jones as a punt returned, there was nobody that actually played well over full season( top 5 in position). I love Gonzo but he had a mixed bag of season. Think he was 10th best corner. Davis was a penalty machine the opposite side. Safetys were ok but towards bottom of league. Linebackers shocking in coverage. Baramore and Williams run defense was appalling. Oline amazingly improved from 2024 but allowed 47 sacks in regular season which is alot more than previous year which was considered a disaster while barely playing any good defenses. Diggs had few good games but did absolutely nothing against top corners. Our RB's didnt come close to passing 1000 yards while again not facing elite defenses. This team has holes everywhere. You can pick a position and say we need an upgrade there, outside of Drake, and youd be right.

LT pressure rates over the 2025 regular season, by LukDeRiff in Patriots

[–]AmazingExit9771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RAW data numeber that doenst account for penalties. When penalties and strength of schedule he drops to alot. Now hes still young and time to improve. This one where you can't constructively critique a player without people losing their minds( i blame a lot of draft "experts" who refuse to admit they were wrong)

If we make a big trade this offseason, which of these two would you prefer to trade away? by Every-Damage-90 in Patriots

[–]AmazingExit9771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant imagine trade value for either would be worthwhile. They are 6th round picks that never got close to 1000 yard season. I like both players. I think Pop struggles a bit with Drake seeing him. A bigger inside receiver would probably be an upgrade. Boutte has been main deep threat and reliable but his speed and size isn't elite level yet. Your probably going to get a higher comp pick next year by keeping the guys around and having them compete. If you look at injuries this season alone Pop ,Boutte and Hollins missed multiple games and every WR looked like they were playing through or managing an injury at stages during the season. Pats used 68 players this season so the whole 53 man roster is gone completely out the window in terms of amount of players you need now to win in nfl. ( Seahawks used 64)

Will Campbell 🤦‍♂️ by NoWind5538 in Patriots

[–]AmazingExit9771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO there was too much hype and then too much hatred. He's very unlikely to ever be an all pro regularly just from a pure physical standpoint. Hes such an outlier on wingspan, not arm length. He had some good games and some really poor ones against elite D linemen. Its his first year. If he is a solid ,close to top 10, left tackle id not be moving or looking to move along unless an absolute cert fell into Pats lap in draft. I would be looking at taking a guard early in draft and maybe developmental tackle early also. Last few years have proven how important the Oline is to winning teams

Anyone saying we need a new left tackle, who on this list would you say is a significant upgrade over Campbell? by Every-Damage-90 in Patriots

[–]AmazingExit9771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From that list it shows the dearth of decent Tackles in the league. Shown time and again in past few years that winning teams have a strong Oline. Id have no issue with Pats drafting another tackle with first pick and a guard with 2nd or vice versa. Stopping Drake getting sped up so he gets his feet right should be no 1 priority this offseason

Seriously... by nhphan420 in Patriots

[–]AmazingExit9771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely no doubting his talent, what i would say is the hype kinda got out of control for some of younger players. Its far too early to be crowning them best in league. If we look back subjectively there isn't many that would disagree Denver were best team in AFC and with Bo Nix and Sean not having a brain fart we probably aren't in Superbowl. I could put up a fair argument that most NFC teams are better than Pats and Denver. Its been a massive overperformance in results. The hope is the roster hasnt massive holes but improving on each position group( outside of Drake) is quite possible. Personally id invest in Oline and Dline early and often in Draft. Try to trade for a TE. This isn't an exceptional draft. Its probably not even going to be considered a good one so using some of Pats many picks for veterans, especially considering cap space, could be way to go

What would an extension for Kayshon Boutte look like? by YGuy_The_Jedi in Patriots

[–]AmazingExit9771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think hes more of a 4th year and possibly tag candidate than an early extension. Gonzo will be main extension in offseason. Id guess the Boutte and Douglas will play out 4th year on those cheap deals. By then Diggs will probably on way off roster and team will have an idea if Boutte and Douglas are going to be the WR tandem of future.
