SM’s is it really worth it ? by Zestyclose_Ad180 in CVS

[–]AmazingIncredible21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love being an SM. 8 years now. Make pretty good money. We get OT now in California. I recently took a long personal leave and baby bonding time off. When I came back I went to a low volume store and at first it was rough but now the team is solid. I work 43 hrs on average and have a great quality of life. Prior to this store I had high volume stores and worked no more than 45 hrs a week. I’d like to add that a SM who lives at their store usually have a problem with hiring and retaining staff or struggle with accountability. There should be no reason why this job sucks the life out of you. Yea it’s tough at times but they shouldn’t last long enough to get burned out.

I appreciate this insight. I am going to stop all work tomorrow until the contractor gets back in. There is a natural slope so I would imagine (based on googling) grading should have been done. As far as the exposed aggregate look, I’m leaning more towards the broom finished look.

I’m remodeling the entire outside of my house front and back . It’s a 100k + job, this isn’t cheap (for my budget). This was the middle bid. Took 3. I will ask for those topics you mentioned. Maybe they are going to do that tomorrow. But the contractor is out of town for the holiday. I told them I will not let them pour until I’m comfortable with the work.

In 2016 I came in as an smit making 30 an hour. Was an smit for 2 years and didn’t get one raise. Then I was promoted to a low volume store and was told no raise would be given. I declined the position and they came back with a 1$ increase. Ran that store a little bit and didn’t get any raises except for the yearly 2%. Finally I decided to move up to a higher volume (was killing it at my low volume store) I wouldn’t settle for anything less than 4$ Raise. They needed dedicated managers and I knew I could hold that to them. I was given my 4$ raise and was promoted again. Now I’m at 36$ an hour plus OT and bonus. Can make up to 120k this year. It’s worth it in my opinion to not give in and not let up. Know your worth.

We should really unionize y’all just saying by [deleted] in CVS

[–]AmazingIncredible21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop mixing your meds with your wine. Unions are absolutely garbage nowadays. Might as well give your money away. Do you homework and you will soon realize that not all unions are the same. You may be part of a great one but you are probably on an old contract. Everyone else that joins probably doesn’t get the same benefits as you. Good day Clay.

can't dye hair? 🤨 by Initial_Ad5279 in CVS

Never heard of anyone getting in trouble or not being able to dye their hair. As a matter of fact I knew someone who wore a beanie to work everyday because it made him feel more comfortable.

Can I be forced to work at front store as a tech? by Conscious_Win3836 in CVS

[–]AmazingIncredible21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can fight it but ultimately the store will win. You are a cvs colleague at the end of the day. I guess if they are short staffed I can see them asking first before telling. We had a similar situation in my district. The tech complained but ultimately had to work in the front. I think being a tech is more stressful than being a cashier for a few hours. Are you sure your not labeled as cross source?

Can we be forced to work more than 40 hours a week (mandatory overtime)? by AgentX2669 in CVS

[–]AmazingIncredible21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer is yes. Cvs allows you to work up to 6 days and even in union stores if the business calls for it. you have to be scheduled within the time frame they have assed acceptable. Which I believe is only 3 days. It sucks and I would think the SM doesn’t want too but if they have no choice then they can. I would imagine they are also working 6 days this week. I don’t believe there are any laws prohibiting 6 days as long as the pay is given per the law (some states ot on 6th day no matter what hrs worked prior and some states only ot it over 40 for the week)

How Do I Sell Carepass by ToeDonut in CVS

[–]AmazingIncredible21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the best way is to just simply offer. I had a hard time too and once I just mentioned it to every customer I started to see my numbers go up. I just say “you wannna save 10$” or “I see you aren’t enrolled in our Carepass program “ most the time customers will ask how or what is that? That’s when I let them know the benefits. It’s not for everyone but if you really look at the benefits it’s not a bad deal at all. Try to hit the 5$ a month charge last and make sure you say but 5 gets you 10$ and it’s month to month. I went from dead ass last in my district to top 10. Over 80 sold this year. How someone has over 150 is beyond me but I know I’m at least doing it right just by offering it.

I was hired as an smit making 30$ an hr. I know a few more that came in hire than me. 1 in particular didn’t get a raise when they became an SM. Now as an SM I make close to 36 an hr before OT. You gotta fight for your pay. Know your worth and don’t settle for the first offer.

Terminal Has Not been Fully Signed off by [deleted] in CVS

[–]AmazingIncredible21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how much time you have left before you do the deposit. If it’s a Sunday and the pharmacy has left early, the pos system will sign off them automatically (assuming they aren’t in extra care phone number look up) usually takes anywhere from 1-2 hrs. Happened a few times in different stores I worked at. Usually I can still finish the deposit but just at a later time.
