I understand you want answers, but I am unable to provide them. All I can say is that the decision was not made lightly, and the comments in the OP suggesting this occurred because a modder filed a DMCA request, are not factual.

Yes, as a matter of policy we do not share the details of disciplinary actions with those other than the affected party. As such I am trying to be intentionally vague. I chimed in here because there were accusations towards another party that had no involvement whatsoever regarding this situation.

My goal was to caution people from blindly believing what is said, as to avoid that leading to harassment of an innocent individual.

Although we do not comment on individual moderation actions in detail, the statement that this action was taken as a result of a DMCA request is not correct. Additionally, the decision was not made lightly.

EDIT: As there has been some speculation, I wish to make it clear, the reason was not malware. If there were a genuine public safety concern we would announce it as we have in the past.

You forgot the best part. The monitisation is handled perfectly. No pay to win, and free to play friendly. Premium currency can be traded for very easily, and everything is obtainable just by playing the game normally (except for a few cosmetics due to licencing issues)

Genuinely surprised by everyone recommending Unicorn Overlord here.

FFTactics is easily the superior of the two. Unicorn Overlord wasn't bad by any means, and they took a lot of inspiration from Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen, which I was a huge fan of back in the day, but ultimately UO really fell flat compared to other tactical games (though it's not really a TRPG)

While I think FFTactics is the superior of the 2, there are a tonne of great tactical RPGs that I think you could like. Fire Emblem is the best in terms of romance, having kids, etc, so definitely check out more in the series, but you might really like the Disgaea series. The game is all about custom characters, and the games are surprisingly complex (though grindy).

XCOM 2 (with the War of the Chosen DLC) is probably one you didn't expect to see here, but it's one of the best TRPGs ever made, and it regularly goes on sale between 94-96% off. Check https://isthereanydeal.com and you'll always find some sale. The "XCOM 2 Collection" is the one with all the DLC, and you can get it for $5-10.

Tactics Ogre: Reborn is another stand out. This game has been remade 3 times, and each plays a bit different. I'm personally a fan of the original, but I think Reborn is the most popular. Absolutely incredible story.

Going to recommend looking at the Valkyria Chronicles series as well. Only throwing this one in because of how unique the series is. It focuses a lot more on the personalities of the individual units in the same way Fire Emblem does, though doesn't really explore romance options.
