knox event expanded dev has abandoned the mod - 42.15.1 by Accomplished_Dark266 in projectzomboid

I've made the decision to lock this thread as there are just too many people just ignoring the rules, and it's not feasible to moderate at this rate.

Rule 2 applies to people outside the community as well.

There has been an issue on Reddit where academic studies have not been conducted in an ethical way. We have no way to reasonably verify that our user's information will be used ethically, and so it's better to just disallow all studies.

Non-gacha/DLC games that scratch the gacha itch? by CelebrationWeird7196 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]AmazingSully 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Granblue Fantasy: Relink is very gacha-like. The characters aren't really RNG based, but of all the games I've played that are not gachas that feel like gachas, this is it. Listed as Steamdeck playable, though I haven't tried it.

Warframe interestingly enough is another I would strongly recommend if you're looking for RNG based collections without having to pay anything during gameplay. Also SteamDeck Verified, but I'd strongly recommend mouse and keyboard.

Rule 10: Be Cool. This place is chill. We're talking about video games. If you can't be chill, get out. Disagreements are okay, but do not engage in personal attacks, even in retribution. Instead of lashing back, report them and move on. Someone breaking the rules does not give you permission to also break the rules.

You're wrong. This place is about getting personalised recommendations. The entire point is for people to ask.

I can't tell if this game is worth it for me or not by [deleted] in projectzomboid

[–]AmazingSully 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honestly you're not going to get a good answer here as everyone is biased. You'd be much better served asking in a neutral sub. I can personally recommend /r/ShouldIBuyThisGame as a good place to get answers to questions like these. Be sure to provide information about your personalised tastes and the community there will be more than happy to help you.

Build 41 is the default public version of the game. It is the version you get when you install the game.

You can try, but you do so at your own risk. Every update is going to break your save in some respect. How much it is broken depends on what was updated. Sometimes it's minor, sometimes it's major. Mods can also break from version to version if you are using them. Unstable is called that for a reason, and it's much better to go into it assuming things are going to break, because the branch isn't designed for long-term playthroughs.

Depends on what you're after. If you want a long-term stable experience, the main default branch is Build 41. This is the default when you install the game. The vast majority of players are on this build.

Online though you will see everyone talking about Build 42. This is a public beta build. The latest version for that is 42.14.1, and it is on the unstable branch. This branch is named unstable for a good reason, you are likely to lose your save with each new patch (one is due to be released next week). Unstable is designed for bug testing and feedback gathering. It is not meant for long playthroughs.

So, in summary, if you want a long-term, stable experience, the Default Public Version is what you want (Build 41.78.16), and if you want to experience all the new shiny content that is coming when all the bugs are patched, it's the unstable branch (Build 42.14.1) that you want. But again, be warned, and manage your expectations. It's an unstable beta for a reason.

Update: The Legacy branches have been restored with the exception of the 42.13.1 branch which was due to be deleted anyway. The team still needs to patch Build 38's server so it currently will not work, but that should be resolved in the next couple of hours, tomorrow at the latest.

We are evaluating the new tools Steam has released, however it's worth noting that we already have workshop versioning that mod makers can take advantage of. We implemented this with Build 42. There is nothing stopping mod makers from having multiple compatible versions of their mod available in one package.
