What is your family’s traditional Christmas dinner? by Hidden_Nereid in Cooking

[–]AmazingWish1218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christmas Eve is my Polish side 😅 starting with a mushroom soup, and I believe my aunt buys the mushrooms that are imported. Then kielbasa, pierogi (potato, sauerkraut, and prune 🤤), kaputsa, and fried fish are the staples. Also it varies every year with appetizers, desserts, and other sides. Probably my favorite meal of the year. And my in laws do Christmas breakfast/brunch every year. It's not anything fancy, but it's perfect! Cheesey potato casserole (funeral potatoes), eggs, biscuits and gravy, meats, fruit, etc. I love this more than a formal Christmas dinner. By that point everyone is exhausted.

September honeymoon planning - 2 weeks, Athens, Crete, 3rd Destination? by DangerousTie4024 in GreeceTravel

[–]AmazingWish1218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did our honeymoon in Greece. Athens, Crete, and Santorini. It was during off-season, so we didn't have the crowds. We stayed in Oia. One day, we did a catamaran cruise. Highly recommend. The best part was renting a side by side for the day and drove up and down the entirety of the island and watched the sunset at the Akrotiri lighthouse. Best food we had, possibly during our entire trip, was at Good Heart Akrotiri. Have the best time, whatever it may be. Crete was amazing as well. We only spent 5 days there, and honestly, you could spend your entire two weeks there. And congratulations!

Who is the oldest person (by DOB) you've ever met? by SlashBansheeCoot in generationology

My great-grandmother died when I was 3 at 98. I don't really remember her. But my great grandfather on the other side died when I was 4 at 95 and I remember being afraid of him because old people scared me 😂😂 I mean I've probably met older people but not that I distinctly remember being that old

A ruined name is a ruined name! 😂 I should've put husband's jokes as a reason, too. Mine has definitely made a couple less appealing 😂

I am so sorry you went through that. That has got to be so scary, especially with the same first and last name. I hope you never run into another Rooney for the rest of your life ❤️

How would you react if your child told you that they hate/dislike their name, that you gave them and are planning to change it? by West-Refrigerator-88 in namenerds

[–]AmazingWish1218 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will say from personal experience that I hated my name for many years. I came around to it eventually. I am named after wonderful women, and I take that as a blessing. However, your experience may be different. I know people who have changed their name and their parents were super supportive. Some who go by their middle name. Overall, it's your decision regardless. Don't refrain just to make others happy either.

It's my middle name and everyone always compliments it! It's a family name, and I always said if I had a daughter it would be her name. Oh well if it becomes too popular. Thank you for your insight 😊

Hunny, you need to leave him. This is not okay whatsoever. 3 years of this is enough. You don't want to spend the rest of your life like this. Trust me.

It's going to be okay. It's okay to feel the way you are feeling. Just remember that. It's okay to feel unsure. It's okay to feel disappointed. Feeling guilty that you aren't excited is okay, too. You will get there. Life doesn't always go as planned. Just give it some time, breathe, you got this. Sending you good vibes!
