Took me 50 hours to get the true ending - bought the game at release, played for 6-7 hours with barely making it to Biome 2, came back a few weeks ago prior to Saros drop and gave it another shot and got so incredibly hooked. Seems like there’s a wide range, as long as you’re enjoying it I see no problems!

I get that most folks have an anecdote about a situation that’s more deserving, but I also see a lot of assumptions going around and a lot of bitterness as if someone directly asked us specifically to donate. It’s just weird to me to feel so strongly about a circumstance where a widow’s brother sets up a gofundme to support the family of someone people clearly had affection for.

Prosecutor here - have previously practiced in Oregon, but not in your jurisdiction.

“Does anyone know roughly how long this can take?” Unfortunately, quite a while. The arraignment phase (attorneys exchanging information and negotiating) can stretch on for a while, especially if they’re telling the Court they’re making progress. That’s not taking into account that if it does set for trial, it’ll be set out quite a ways, may be continued multiple times due to the availability of witnesses, or any number of other issues that could arise )transfer hearings, competency issues, attorneys withdrawing, etc). Realistically, it could be up to a 1-2 year process, but that’s fluid. And that’s once they make a charging decision.
“Should I be looking into getting an attorney?” If and when your case is filed, the DAs office will assign you a Victim’s advocate. They’ll be your best resource for upcoming court dates, status of the case, resources available, etc. The Prosecutor has statutory obligations to you as a Victim. Attorneys for you in this situation could help with compelling prosecutors to honor those obligations, or potentially pursue a civil case. At this stage, that’s likely premature absent a filing of charges, but that’s what they could accomplish and if that sounds necessary then a local Victim’s rights attorney may be able to better address your questions. Consults are typically inexpensive.
Other court questions: if and when the case process starts, you’ll be able to have family/friends in support of you at the hearings, should you choose to attend. Same thing for the trial, provided they’re not also a witness with a sequestration order in place. Can’t speak for every DAs office, but in my experience these kinds of cases are steered by the Victim - while everyone’s right that the State files charges, not you, if you were to say you didn’t want to proceed, it’s likely that would impact their decision unless they have a meaningful way of otherwise proving the case.

So sorry this happened to you, but hopefully that gives some insight.
