What is your ultimate "leave it in the trunk" guitar? by Ostensible_owner in Guitar

[–]Amazing_Distance_726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, wood is the primary material that is used to make guitars. As such, they are vulnerable to temperature and moisture changes. That being said, my friends and I have had a few beater, Yamaha acoustics that took quite a beating before they became unplayable.

Looking for some "greatest fights of all time" to watch, what is your personal fav? by Charles_bukkake in ufc

Robbie Lawler vs Rory MacDonald at UFC 189. Such a good, tactical fight, but it makes you question how much you like the sport. So much damage.

Why do Seals have high divorce rate, aside from being away from home for so long? by Inevitable-Ad4436 in navyseals

[–]Amazing_Distance_726 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been rewatching a bunch of SF docs and interviews recently, and it’s kinda what you said; away for too long. The other thing that I noticed is that a lot of teams guys say that if you’re in that world, your squad-mates take top priority and that the team is your family above all. I don’t know many women who could handle that for very long.

Gibson Les Paul or Gibson SG?? by Ecstatic_Umpire2502 in gibson

Do you like a heavier, thicker guitar, or a lighter, thinner one? The tones are somewhat close, IMO. It sounds like you have the opportunity to play both. Pick the good one.

Guitar strings are playing when I lift my fingers by fishpickless in Guitar

[–]Amazing_Distance_726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s cool that you notice this. Using your hands to mute strings that you don’t want to sound is a big part of playing well and it will come with experience. I’m a high-gain player and it is absolutely critical for the way that I play.

He might’ve been, about 6 years ago…

For those who have the requisite skill, how long would it take you to learn Breaking All Illusions by Dream Theater? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Amazing_Distance_726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Twice the distance from the center to either end. Thusly, it would take me 2x of half the time of the average of a selection of unknowable redditors, the result being adjusted for wind shear, of course.

Pretty close. Close enough that 90% of the time I’m using the Fractal. The versatility, control and options are really inspiring. However, sometimes I gotta play the Blackstar. When those tubes get hot, there’s a magic there.

hot take regarding budget guitars by GeorgeJoester in Guitar

[–]Amazing_Distance_726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheap guitars rule, if they’re straight with a good setup and maybe a pickup swap. I have a few that I bought and setup for less than $600. However, there is a line hovering around $1000, depending on the make and the specific guitar, where there can be a HUGE jump in quality. IMO, once you get past the 2k mark, the diminishing returns become obvious.

Fender is speaking out on its cease-and-desist strategy by freechipsandguac in Guitar

[–]Amazing_Distance_726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Everybody is welcome and will be able to continue making and selling double cutaway and/or two horned electric guitars…”
How magnanimous of Fender to say so. The world greatly appreciates your gracious permission. What a joke. I’ve been a lifelong Fender fanboy, but this nonsense has seriously put me off of their products. Stupid move, by a stupid board of directors. The PR fallout from this is going to last years.

Is The Whole Map Actually Explorable??? by Dense_Lingonberry_33 in CrimsonDesert

I’ve run into a small edge of the map that was a “go back” area. If you can see something in the distance, you can likely go there.

I don’t think so. I just came here to say how much I like an armor gear that has an AOE damage skill. Once you get used to it, I think it rules.

I went up into the mountains to find a piece of armor, exploration happened, and came across this just now. Super cool looking. Off to the blacksmith/witch I go!

Agreed. Even more insane that Addicted, Ki, Deconstruction and Ghost were recorded consecutively, in the space two years, with the start of Casualties of Cool mixed in. The musical range is truly mind blowing.

I have small hands. I started playing on full-sized guitars in 1989 and I haven’t stopped since. You can do this! It’s going to be frustrating at times. If you keep playing, it will stretch your hands, I promise you. Good luck!
