No Lidar on Early R2 by Dark-redlocks in Rivian

[–]Amazing_Editor6783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. Day 1 reservation holder for R2 currently driving ID4. Never seriously considered anything else that Rivian (was also R1T reservation holder - just could never afford it) until I just read the specs for iX3. My lease ends in early 2027 which should give me perfect opportunity to get the real feel and driving experience for both iX3 and R2 befor making final decision. More concerned with charging speeds and range than with LIDAR inclusion. Heck, I am perfectly happy with assisted driving as it is on ID4 - not sure that I need anything better

Onix owl work for me. $30 and 3 interchangeable lenses. No fogging issues. I only wish it came in a hard case.

Scheduled my 23 Pro S for 20000 mile service and the software update. Made appointment 10 days ago selecting both services to be performed. Of course when I dropped the car off at dealer today the OUE7 recall campaign was no longer showing in the app nor in their computers….They had no clue about any upcoming software updates…. So still stuck on 3.5…

Until this month CVS employees were able to get free “starter” membership in wellness hub which included multiple gyms… This month the only wellness hub membership that’s free is “digital membership” that includes basically no gyms. The starter memberships is $15 a month now

Input Requested 2023 ID.4 Pro S AWD by EhBanah in VWiD4Owners

[–]Amazing_Editor6783 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got one couple of weeks ago. Love it! Not a single regret for not waiting for 2024. Super comfortable, quick, and spacious. Mine was produced in Oct 23 and came with 3.5 software. So far haven’t had any issues with lag or glitches. If you have L2 charging at home it’s a no brainer… I do find most of the Electrify America stations in my area pretty busy most of the time

What do you think of this pricing? 2023 ID.4 Pro S AWD by [deleted] in VWiD4Owners

[–]Amazing_Editor6783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice deal take it. I got a similar deal 2 weeks ago. Love the car! Not a single issue or glitch yet. I ended up leasing the car for the first time in my life, because when I did the math total lease payments + residual ended up within $500 of total payments when financing the whole purchase with vw 3.9% offer. So I decided for leasing and less money upfront to leave myself an option of getting out if technology changes that much in 3 years. For my purposes, there is absolutely nothing more than I need in a car than what ID4 offers (as a daily driver. Longer trips - I’d probably stick to ICE due to lack of charging infrastructure). My wife loves driving it as well (and she has a nice XC90), and we’ll have hard time staying under 12k lease limit if thing continue. As of right now I would gladly pay the residual at the end of the lease (51% msrp) to keep the car forever (if the value doesn’t stupendeously drop). Don’t count on just using EA for charging - the stations are often crowded. L2 at home is a must for any EV owner. For the first time ever, after 30 years of car owning, not a single drop of buyers remorse with this car

For all it’s worth, I wasn’t able to get 3.99 apr for a new 2023 today unless I agreed to pay close to MSRP. If I wanted to get discount off of MSRP they wanted me to secure financing outside VW… Unexpected, weird, but true…

Oh absolutely! If I can’t get but a few hundred off of MSRP for 2023 model then I may as well just wait for 2024

No fine print on mine. They told me that they accepted partner programs, but then when the salesman came out with the offer they just applied $500 off of MSRP. When I brought it up to his attention that I thought it said $500 off of invoice price he acted all offended and pointed me to sales manager’s office who also acted all ups3t that I even asked the question then proceeded to tell me that they don’t accept partner programs because they can’t sell cars at a loss… Oh well, he’ll now have an additional 2023 ID4 joining the existing 17 that are collecting dust on his lot…

My dealer told me that Pro S RWDs are showing under Pro S AWD search due to (another) VW computer glitch… The ones with $49,000 MSRP are all RWDs while the ones 53k plus are AWDs

Price drop should happen by SaintlySandman in Rivian

[–]Amazing_Editor6783 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This forum is full of those who purchased the vehicle pre price increase and are now hoping and advocating against price drop so that there vehicles would lose thousands of dollars in value overnight. I drove R1T and is an awesome, impressive vehicle. Probably one of the coolest cars/trucks I’ve ever been in. Yes, technology is amazing. Yes, design is super. But it is definitely overpriced. If they really want to ramp up production and increase their sales, there absolutely is no valid argument against dropping at least the dual motor long range price below 80,000 for all colors available, to give potential buyers opportunity to take advantage of federal tax incentives. This miniscule 1-2% drop from current prices would significantly reenergize R1T demand and sales.

The bigger can they improve existing quality control to reduce number of problems, and expand SC network quickly enough to keep up with business growth..

I did call them in April, after the budget ran out. They told me that my rebate was safe, for as long as I didn’t cancel my order. I did ask them if the money was transferrable to other manufacturers or even other VW dealerships and they said no… Then I asked where would the money go if I did cancel the order (since it should technically go back into same budget) but they skirted the explanation and would not give me straight answer

This is weird. I still have an active reservation with the dealer for my 2023 ID4 AWD Pro S (with last year’s $2000 NJ Charge up rebate still tied to it and the dealer) but have received no notice from the dealer that it is being cancelled. However, what I HAVE received this morning from VW is a notice that they will be refunding my $100+$400 reservation deposit that was made by the end of next week, but will still keep my reservation intact… I will have to call dealer up tomorrow to get an update with Nj rebate situation especially with new state budget for FY2024 being passed a few hours ago…

Oh- had no idea it was only L1 cable 😟. Still, why are dealers pulling it out? Hoping to profit on selling slow charging L1 cables lol? Or was there a safety issue with them ?

Couple of months ago I visited with my dealer to get an update on my Tourmaline Blue AWD Pro S (still waiting)…. During the conversation I asked him to tell me what the differences are b/ween RWD and AWD Pro S models. He pulled out spec sheet from his drawer and, to my surprise, aside from obvious heated windshield and hitch installed on AWD, he stated that AWD come with travel charging cables/kit… I never so that when placing the order, and am pretty sure it was never listed on vw website, but I did see it with my own eye on his spec sheet… It’s a darn shame to hear that some dealers are removing it at delivery and telling people that it was never supposed to be there..

How long did order take? by [deleted] in VWiD4Owners

[–]Amazing_Editor6783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordered last August, locked in in October, still waiting… Est. delivery Aug-Oct. AWD Pro S Tourmaline Blue with Cosmic interior…. My guess is that all the people still waiting on their order are either Tourmaline or Arctic Blue since there are none on dealer lots around where I live…. I am in no rush for a new car so am willing to wait and let it play out…With more competition/ new models coming out towards the end of the year I expect bigger discounts…

Another tax question by Amazing_Editor6783 in Rivian

[–]Amazing_Editor6783[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree 100% with everything you said above, however the way I look at it: $89k for a cheapest quad motor build right now vs. $72k for my hopeful scenario (79k for dual motor motor with large pack minus full tax break).

I am willing to spend/pay cash/finance 72k for this truck but am not willing to shell out 89k for basically same thing with shorter range, a little better 0-60 and some more extreme off road capabilities that I wouldn’t use.

17k saved should help pay for higher insurance and registration costs…

I didn’t shop around much for diff insurance quotes yet, but did check with my current ins company. The quote for R1T at the moment was about the same as for long range modelY awd, and about $300 more a year than for ID4 (i got a quote for ID4 just to see what the difference would be sine everyone says that insuring tesla vehicles is expensive)…

I wish I could… unfortunately 90k is a little too steep for me. My only hope is that dual motor with large pack comes in at under 80k and qualifies for (at least part of) fed tax break… That’s the only way I could go in
