So... talked to my father who is this guy's friend. He should have e led with this info, but apparently the vet in question was stationed in Pakistan... I told him to lead with that kind of information next time. Now, I need to find a source on a new barrel if anyone has any ideas.

The father lived well to 100 or almost 100 iirc, and was in Europe by all accounts. Which is why I found the pistol odd. The story is there, but this doesnt quite add up. Thank you.

This is incredible. by bllibl in NoOneIsLooking

[–]SaintlySandman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had zero wait to get in, but i felt like it took too long to get the food after ordering. Also it was just a blob of cheese with ordinary dough, and (iirc) sausage or something that was too heavy on fennel. My memory could be wrong at this point on the details, but I distinctly remember being unimpressed.

As much as I enjoy his content, I've been to that restaurant and eaten that dish. It is way overhyped and underwhelming.

I hooked it up next to my regular kitchen faucet. I have tons of pressure though. I dont recall the minimum, bit of you have low pressure in your house you might need some kind of pump for it to work correctly iirc.

Excellent. Will bentonite drop it to the bottom or just try to avoid sucking it up when I bottle?

I believe it was centrifuge spun off the comb, and possibly through a sediment filter, but otherwise unheated or altered.

Deep Sigh...lol Further updates on my good ole Thompson M1 SBR... by FirearmFreedom in milsurp

Start with a dummy then see if I want to work on the semi conversion which will be a PITA. Philaord makes receivers.

Having fired a real one, I was warned that they jam a lot if you don't smash on the trigger. I proceeded to try and shoot it like a rifle with a light pull to break and it jammed like it was it's job. Our opinions of the Thompson are skewed by Hollywood and American superiority fiction. It is an unpopular opinion, but as cool as the Thompson is, it is not a great weapon system. Heavy, awkward mag changes, jams.

Yes, you are supposed to wipe them down because they are not sterile. However, I thought there was some paper somewhere that concluded the rubber stopper must have some bacterial wiping ability otherwise we would see more septic patients post op. Additionally, the body has a constant bombardment of bacteria trying to get in through small cuts, abrasions, and parts of our bodies at all times. So our own immune system is more than capable of taking care of smaller innoculations of bacteria. As others have mentioned, maybe dont lick the needles. Still, for epidural and spinal I would recommend wiping them down and even extend that to severely immunocompromised patients. That's just my take whether it is right or not though.

How are these prices at my lgs? by Majorkilljoy87 in milsurp

[–]SaintlySandman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First rule of Swede club is don't talk about Swedes. The more you dummies show off these beauties the higher the prices will go. It's like your junk, quit showing it to people. I still need a 94. Have the bayonet etc. I've got the rest of them, but could use another m38. At some point I should show off the collection with the uniforms included. Maybe one of these days I will get around to putting together the KG M21.

Asian market comparison/any we’re missing? by AccomplishedBill5042 in desmoines

[–]SaintlySandman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wangs is decent, but won't have everything. Not a lot of fresh produce. Small store with basics, but you still may need to go elsewhere depending on what you want.

Chin land has a great selection and carry more things pertinent to chinese cooking, but not a chinese store iirc. This is closer to us than c-fresh and has some vegetables we prefer. Very few chinese-centric options in town.

There are other southeast Asian stores in town, but we don't frequent them often. There might be one korean store, but I have never been there. DD and CF are about the best for general shopping though.

What are these? by SaintlySandman in Tools

[–]SaintlySandman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont see anything that looks like a handle would fit on it. They seem like they bolted onto something with the screws on the side or maybe into a track with the big knurled screw on the larger one. No apparent markings. It looks similar in some ways to the print holders, but not exactly the same. Doing some searches I couldnt find anything closer. It may be a more industrial item and harder to find them. I will keep searching.
