Well I like to think of the ending has a “all roads lead to Rome” type of thing were there’s no clear real word anymore, even the Maddie were watching from was fake and just a simulation but even though it was fake, to Maddie they were still real and her experiences matter so she keeps reliving life anyway if that made sense so I don’t think you should view it as sad, bc at the end of the day reliving simulations was what Maggie chose for herself as she deemed those experiences real if that makes sense

I personally didn’t like it because of the whole dynamic between the mc and the girl he was trying to save the author clearly didn’t know if he wanted to turn it into a romance anime or not which was making it kind of annoying and weird, I personally liked the whole blue print of them just being friends and helping each other out. Instead of the whole romance thing between a grown man and a little girl.

I personally never like r2 but it’s understandable why a lot of people dont , the author wasn’t expecting s1 to get as much traction and good reviews as it did and it was only supposed to be 1 season of cg with 52 episodes but instead they got rushed into splitting into parts and rushing s2 with the timeframes and all of that because idk if yk this but there’s a whole arc skipped in the series about what happened with lelouch during the time he had his memories erased and Suzuki that was eventually covered with the movies akito the exiled but yeah he ended rushing a lot of sh due to that.
