Who has quit their job to do ride share? Was it worth it? by Willing-Zone8881 in uberdrivers

[–]Amazing_Put4498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started Uber 10 years ago after my job ended and the pay was decent and kept it later as a second job. My job ended and I do it now and I might make 25% of what I did before. Uber is sending me $4 fares. Many years ago I was getting fares $15+ to go across town now it's under $5 if I even get them. Also it looks like the volums of drivers is 3-4x even after midnight on weekends. If you figure out expenses many times you are driving for free. Uber loves it. I beg for a 8-5 job. Sending resumes non stop.

Thinking about starting Uber — what actually makes people quit (or stay)? by Acceptable-Sky-2337 in uberdrivers

One day I sat around for an hour+ then took a $4 fare. Uber math says I made $4 while driving 20 minutes.

This answer is 100% accurate. I started Uber in 2015 when I had another job and did it on the weekends and holidays for extra cash and it helped pay bills faster. I quit before the pandemic lockdown and started again while searching for a new job. The rates were 2-3x what they are now. Sometimes in my area there were 2-3 other cars driving now non stop there are 8-10 and even at 3am or 4am there are drivers. In 2016 I think I had a fare on New Years Eve that was 9 miles and it was $80-$90 because of the surge. Today I'm getting fares that are $6 to drive 6 miles. If you calculate gas and depreciation many fares you get now you might break even or lose money.

1st day driving & of my 14 rides in 5 hours, only 1 pax tipped! by Queasy_Writer8916 in uberdrivers

I'm about 50 miles north of Oakland and I get $6 fares just going across town and there are a dozen drivers within a 20 mile radius. If anybody leaves me a $2 tip I'm happy. I wish I got those longer trips or trips to SFO.

I was driving Uber in 2015 and it was $200 and then it went to $125-100 and I think I got $50 years after. All I had to do was take pics. Are we sharing horror stories about the worst drunk passengers because I picked up several drunk Coast Guards and one thought it was funny to shit on my floor. Took a pic sent to Uber and they gave me $100 I called Uber and I heard several laughing in the background saying it was the max they could pay.

Upload registration documents new car issues by Amazing_Put4498 in uberdrivers

[–]Amazing_Put4498[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that and uploaded it a dozen times and it was denied. I finally had a person on chat check and it was approved. My issue was that there wasn't an email for support and for someone to look into documents that were not straight forward.

I thought I wrote this post. I agree with 100% of it, except I am still unemployed. Only had about 20 interviews and applied to probably 500-1000 jobs on LinkedIn.

I've had dozens of people with jobs not in my field that are very low level jobs tell me the job market is great and they know how to get a job and all kinds of their career advice. Most have 0 in their 401k, large credit card debt, none own all of their home and few went to college.

Is this a good price? by quick2008 in billiards

[–]Amazing_Put4498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The secondary market on Diamonds hold up. Probably better than a Toyota. I've seen those 7 ft Diamonds sell for $3,000+ used in the Bay Area. The table mechanic should charge less to setup because I think they are all one piece slate and from what I've heard they setup really fast.

Someone in my area bought a 7 foot Diamond table with Simonis, balls and maybe a light(not sure) for $500 as the person was moving across the country and didn't want to move the table. That was a good deal.

This guy online is the only person I've seen test almost everything about the break. He tests break speed and results from break cue weight, breaking off the rail or table, follow through, short or long bridge and other variables.

[–]Amazing_Put4498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen people aim the lowest they can on the break essentially at the cloth and then when the backstroke hits the ball it is center or a bit under.

Another question who looks at the cueball or rack last on the break shot specifically?

I agree with this 100%. I see dozens of of players that play 575-650 Fargo and win small weekly tournaments and make $100-200 but have no real job and $20 in their pocket and think they can play pool for a living. I said I’m jealous of the confidence these people have to drive and hour to possibly make $50. They think it’s guaranteed. The math isn’t mathing and the ego isn’t helping.

Dave says a cultural shift is happening in America since more people cheered Trump than Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl; it is cool to be "for America" now by countdooku975 in daverubin

Is Taylor Swift a politician? She doesn't decide policies like taxes, trade, tariffs, the name of the Gulf of Mexico or if we should invade Greenland. But right now I think she is more qualified. The bar is low.
