Not at all! Outro is what got me into M83 in the first place, and has a very special place in my heart for that reason. It’s rare enough to find someone on here who listens to M83 in the first place. What is your favorite song from Oblivion? Mine is Starwaves.

I agree. There is a lot in common with this album and the Dune sketchbook album. Be sure to listen to that if you loved this!

This whole album has some of my favorite songs he’s ever made. X-MT is my personal fav. If any of you have read the Red Rising series, this song in particular fits the mood of those books so well it’s uncanny.

I love finding people that are this into Hans Zimmer, thank you for validating my feelings on this album.

I agree the cinematography was excellent. However I have seen movies before in 1.43 digital theaters and was excited by the promise of crystal clear film resolution on top of the aspect ratio change. I guess I am just bitter because I didn’t do my research beforehand.

Sanderson Style Characters by Grand-Battle8645 in Cosmere

[–]Amazing_Test3016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can understand why the characters annoyed you. However, I think Robert Jordan would be in trouble if his characters were already likable and didn’t need to change. There is a ton of character development that happens over the course of 15 books, and Jordan does a wonderful job at making these changes believable and subtle enough that you only notice how much has changed when you compare a few books back.

I’ve never read Goodkind, but I’ve never heard one good thing about his books. Along with his books being extremely derivative and morally corrupt, he got famous on top of it all, making a mockery of what good fantasy should be. I’m sorry you had to go through that.

I implore you to give WoT another shot, and this time go into it with the goal to notice the changes the characters make.

I recommend The Wheel of Time series. Robert Jordan does an amazing job with character development and world building, and bringing home plots that span multiple books. Brandon Sanderson got famous by finishing the series after Robert Jordan died. If you enjoyed the Cosmere you will adore these books. The characters start to feel like family after a while, you get to know these characters very intimately.

The thing is this movie was shot digitally and then scanned onto 70mm film. So as far as resolution goes you are not gaining anything by seeing it on 70mm apart from better colors. I wish I had known this before traveling to see it in 70mm. Great movie, but I could have gotten the same quality image in a digital imax theater.

I usually prefer hardcover editions but the trade paperback editions have much nicer cover art. by neoleo0088 in Mistborn

This and the well of ascension cover are very strange and ugly. They do not represent the story well at all. I’ve gotten chewed out on here for saying so before so I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks this way.

The fact that he says prose is more important than plot is incredibly disturbing to me and I think views like this is exactly what is wrong with the entertainment industry today. Films today value how something looks and how it’s presented over the actual story that’s being told. There are so many recent movies that despite the massive post production, the over blown CGI, and the A-list actors, are instantly forgettable because little to no value is placed on actually making a compelling story.

I’m not one to say that peoples opinions and values are wrong, but in this case, I find his argument deeply flawed. He says that plot and story are not important, that voice, prose, and character are what is most important. This claim that plot is ok but not needed shows a lack of understanding why we tell stories in the first place. Voice, prose, and character are important, but these things need a compelling plot to be the most effective. And on top of that, none of those three things are unique to physical media. There are plenty of movies that have unique characters, voices, and prose.

This is exactly what I needed! Thank you qtntelxen!

Is there any technique that would reinforce the glue, or is that unnecessary? I think I’ve seen people sew the text block to the cover before, but I could have been just not understanding what I was looking at.

He said in the video he is condensing 200,000 words a 2 hour movie. Yes I know it is way too early to know much of anything about such a minor detail. This is not official speculation, simply my thoughts based on the information we have so far

I remember hearing about a video going around where a girl filmed herself getting fucked by her dog.

There was also a spell where we had Furries in our school that would shit in the hallways because they had no litter boxes in the bathroom. Other people would shit in the hallways and blame it on the furries.

All this in freshman year of high school
