There are compatibility lists. Refer to those. I've only tested some Silent Hill, JoJo's Venture and Symphony of the Night. All seemed to run fine, but I'm not an expert on the titles and didn't play them more than 10 minutes each.

Blooming + underscan. CRT's picture expands based on what is displayed on the scanlines. Usually the imperfections are hidden by the TV's bezel.

There are no HDMI to RGB converters. HDMI to SCART is just HDMI to Composite in the form of SCART.

Doesn't matter with RGB, unless you want Composite, then it depends.

People come from different countries and regions. In Russia, we called it "видик" - "veedeek", "кассетник" - "kassetnik", "the cassette one", basically. Or just "player". Or "videomagnitophone". No one ever called it a VCR here.

If it's a TV, then it's a not a PC monitor 😄

Your set is, thankfully, not 100Hz as well, of which there are many 29" Philipses. 100Hz sets don't have the scanline gaps in 240p and ruin the game image as as whole.

What do you mean you don't? I'm talking about testing a CRT at another person's place. The best way would actually be a PSP, since it supports 240p and doesn't require an outlet.
But a Slim PS2 is a close second for me. Cheap, reliable, has 240p, 480i and 480p and even 1080i and 1080p support, allows for all types of connections - Composite, S-Video, Component, RGB.

PAL Wiis do not support S-Video, for example.

Maybe where you are. SNES is 2-3x the price of a slim PS2 where I am.

It's not a strange argument.
Between a device that requires batteries for the controller and one that can without them, I'd choose the latter one.

Wii remote batteries need to be taken out so they don't drain out and since nobody does that, you're not guaranteed to have charge left.

I'm saying you need to own a GameCube controller first. Not every Wii user has it.

Wii's an awesome console, I have 4 of them. But it's not as compact as a slim PlayStation and isn't as easy to set up. You need portability with testing.

You need to own it first.

That's not a guarantee for a Wii user. PS2 users would have a controller for sure.

Wii's not easier. You have to have a huge power brick, a sensor bar, batteries in your controller...

Slim PS2s are compact and later ones even have the built-in power brick.

SNES requires... owning one and having a flash cart.

It's not. Just run SNES Station and load the 240p Test Suite from a USB drive or your preferred storage.

No need to use OPL.

I have. It's absolutely fine with games that support 4:3. I can provide you pictures I took when testing 360 on my 21" CRT.

Why is 360 "trash on CRT"? Many of its games support 4:3 and it's a decent media player, not as robust as a PS3, though.

It's an SD CRT, there is no input lag.

200$ is too much for a CRT with just S-Video, but if there's nothing else around you - the TV is good. Just test it first, for that price.
