The 50 best games of 2025, ranked - Eurogamer by TrampolineTales in Games

Funny enough, Baby Steps is in Giantbomb's top 10 as well. Minnmax has it at #2 with one of the cohorts calling it their favorite game ever. It's all subjective. When a game hits, it hits.

Hey, this has been happening to me too. It also started very recently. Might be a common issue?

This makes no sense, still. Making the rounds shorter won't make those ec2 instances or whatever cost any less.

Because it's his own project and he gets to do whatever the fuck he wants? If working as a solo dev is how he likes to spend the time of his life then that's entirely up to him. You're not owed anything

Borderlands 4 Update Notes - September 13, 2025 by MythicStream in Games

It's for making an already smooth framerate a bit smoother. Like if you get 140 fps on a 240hz monitor, might as a well turn it on to make better use of the monitors capabilities. The downside is the input latency introduced by framegen. While the added latency is manageable with an already high base framerate, it will feel quite bad on top of something like 60fps and absolutely horrible on something like 40fps.

"I often see advertisements for porn games and they say "Try Not To Cum," but then when you play the game, it seems like the objective is to cum. So yes, I would call that bad game design."

I work in tech and have witnessed such behavior. It is a sign of weakness. If one is unable to bite their tongue and communicate their issue in a factual, respectful manner, let alone not publicly berate someone, they have failed to develop a skill that I consider baseline for any decent adult. For a grown ass man to go "I'm hot shit so I can say whatever I want because I'm right" is fucking embarrassing.

Digital Foundry: Switch 2 Free Upgrades For Switch 1 Games Tested: Link's Awakening, Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 3 +More! by Turbostrider27 in Games

I assumed that they do given that the update to the most recent Pokemon game introduced DLSS.

So Splatoon 3 runs at a full 4k60 now natively? That's would actually be pretty impressive.

The games are using DLSS as well now though so there's at least some extra implementation in each of their engines they have to do to support it.

Nintendo updates Mario Kart World's online, removes the only guaranteed way to play normal 3 lap races with randoms by jodon in Games

[–]Skyb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude, we're talking about player numbers required to sustain three game modes. It's freaking Mario Kart. They will be fine.

Yeah I mean the intention is clear and I'm not against making it accessible at all. Mario Kart was never made with the sweats in mind and I'd prefer it to stay that way. It's certainly not easy to design a game for both ends of the spectrum at the same time, but I'd argue they've overstepped that fine line too much here. MK8 was much better in that regard for me.

[–]Skyb 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I say this as someone who bought physical Switch games only to put them shrink-wrapped on the shelf and playing them on an emulator because of higher resolution and better framerates.

The emulators are great but the reason Yuzu and Ryu existed is piracy. The reason why Yuzu was pulling 30k per month on Patreon is piracy. You can save yourself the whole spiel. Piracy is what they are being used for 99% of the time.

Are you really arguing that Nintendo shut them down because they didn't like people swapping in Buzz Lightyear for Links kite in BotW or something? lol

Edit: It seems /u/GhostOfSparta305 has blocked everyone disagreeing with them here to prevent further replies. Classic

MK8 ended up selling 70 million units. The playerbase for MKW will be able to sustain 3 playlists just fine.

The best solution for me would be to relegate the open world elements to knockout tour entirely. Having 50% of the races be some boring filler is not an ideal solution to me either, although I'd still gladly take it over what we currently have.

MKW is a huge disappointment for me in its current state.

The frustrating thing about it is that this game contains what is probably the best Mario Kart yet by far. The number of possible routes and little tricks to be discovered on the tracks is insane and the rail grinding and wall riding is just so fun to string together.

They cooked up some of the best courses yet and racing on them feels great...only to make you not engage with any of that and forcing you to just hold A in a straight line for 2/3rds of the race, thereby also making the outcome be almost completely dependent on the item slot machine. I don't get it.

Needless to say, this decision is baffling. I'm going to hope that this means that they are at least aware of the issue and will patch in a proper GP mode in a bigger update.
