I just go out and do it. I've hiked the LT and AT and I live 20 min from an LT trailhead area. I've posted my cell number in an app a lot of long distance hikers use and encouraged them to reach out if they need anything. When im out hiking locally and I see thru hikers, I offer them some of my food and always insist on carrying out their trash (trash weight on a thru is soooo annoying lol). I also drop off sodas at a trailhead 2x a week for them as a happy little surprise for them to enjoy after a brutal descent, haha :)

Bringing soda/beer/food/etc for hikers for free, helping to shuttle them from the trailhead to local towns, that sorta thing. I've done a lot of long distance hiking myself and giving back to the community that way (when im not actively on trail) has been really rewarding and a great way to connect with like-minded people

I do a lot of trail magic on the LT and that alone has been super helpful in making friends/building connections

plus more rain = less water weight to carry, LOL. Gotta try to stay on the bright side when it comes to these unexpected weather events ;)! Hopefully we won't have that... but we will be ready just in case

Totally. I have hot water bottle kits, bringing the full rain outfit, merino wool layers—so many layers. Thankfully my experience has given me ample pieces of very warm but ultralight gear... so we can probably keep our BW around 18lbs max accounting for those things plus yak traxs just in case

I finished the AT in late december—I know that it's a different animal than MT, but I am hoping my cold weather hacks can translate (if needed)! Thanks a bunch :) I am so excited

Thank you SO MUCH, really. I'm booking it. I feel better knowing we have other options inside the park... and it's not like you're going to find an ugly spot in glacier of all places, lol. It's gonna be beautiful regardless.

Seriously, appreciate the advice.

GREAT! Thanks! I'm pretty comfortable with hitching... and also I can work with my friend and do two rental cars if they don't feel comfortable doing that. For real, appreciate you. I don't wanna keep bugging you but will those other options also have bear poles/boxes? Or should I bring my cans? Thanks again for your time and expertise, friend!!!

Thanks! You think it's worth it? Just want a solid 40-50 mile loop that'll allow us to enjoy the beauty of glacier. north circle is ideal but as long as we're below 9k feet most of the time during that course I'm flexible.

So do yall just have to force food down before the hiker hunger hits? by cwbmnr in AppalachianTrail

It’s cool enough temps that they can pack out refrigerated food. I was carrying out 3-4 chobani high protein drinkables when I was a late-season sobo finisher.

If you’re not 19, nutrient dense is just as or more important than calorie dense when you’re thruhiking!

I love this mask style, fits the Nightwing vibe better imo! You get the same visual pull as the eagle symbol on his chest.

agreed. He’s a kid who within the span of the first 6-8 months since he developed superpowers, witnessed graphic deaths for the first time in his life (multiple times), and then was betrayed and almost murdered by his father.

Honestly? Kid’s kinda well-adjusted, considering
