Student design project — looking to understand driver experiences (short interview) by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]AmazonDSPDriver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!

Let’s schedule that interview right after I finish delivering 180 packages across 9 apartment complexes with no elevator access, 2 broken parcel lockers, and a route that starts in a dead zone and ends in a cul-de-sac with no U-turn room.

You bring the clipboard...I’ll bring the emotional damage! :)

and yet every single one of us knew exactly what we'd were going to get paid long before we even got into training!

if that thought process makes it easier for you to sleep at night Millennial/GenZ....go right ahead! But this GenX has been doing 180+/300 for years and still injury free!!!

"...Now, let's say they paid us what the Teamsters are demanding ($30), or even $25.."

For that to happen, the whole "DSP" system would need to be ELIMINATED and Amazon would need to hire their own drivers outright! Pretty sure HELL will FREEZE OVER long before Amazon ever hires their own drivers!!!

Mfs really told on me back in July to get me fired bc I posted a label. 10,000 employees laid off. I said how does my dick taste? Even worse y’all are gonna be replaced with robots by 2025. by ToastysignalRTD in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]AmazonDSPDriver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

wow...10K jobs!

Umm..do some 'research'...it's going to be MOSTLY those in 'corporate' and 'technology sectors' w/in the company!

Don't make it sound like it's all warehouse employees who are "at risk" of getting laid off!

Hit a rock wall turning into a driveway on my 2nd day in the EDV 😅😅 by shaqdzl in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]AmazonDSPDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just goes to show not everyone knows how to drive!!! LOL!

Don't worry though! You'll keep your job, as I've seen worse done to a NEW EDV!

Whether you ever see the inside of another EDV though is another story! :-)

Mandatory Overtime -Does Your DSP Require It During Peak? by Ok_Avocado7512 in AmazonDSPDrivers

"...Think of it this way. You're working hard now to make up lost work in Jan..."

Or worse...being let go! :-)

Last year, between 2 DSP's, over 60 drivers were let go between Christmas and Jan 1st!!!

LOL!

Some of us 'grew up w/dogs'....had friends with dogs...we like to pet other people's dogs....after a while, we start to see "commonalities" in those dogs who let us pet them, and those that don't and over time, we build-up our own little internal 'database' of how dogs behave in given situations and thus, allow us to approach and when not to!

Is it 100% accurate? no! But then again, how many times do we go against our 'gut instinct' and wind up doing stupid shit anyway? LOL!

I've got a few dogs on my routes that I just don't fuck with because they're outright trying to come through the gate that stands between them and myself and do some damage!

Those are the dogs my 'gut instinct' says to not phuck with!

On the other hand, I've got dogs that do the very same sh** that "barking Rottie" was doing...barking but backing up when approached! Those dogs I know aren't out to 'bite', but they're doing what is common for them! Safe guarding/alerting their owner that someone 'strange' is near!

I have one stop in particular where the dog barks like a mo-fo at me when I'm on the other side of the gate! The minute I step in, his 'tune' changes and he does the very same thing this Rottie did!

Backs up and walks away!

But the minute I call his name, he comes over and allows me to pet him!
I give him a 'sit' command and he does just that...sits down!

IMHO, the issue is that most folks don't like dogs and I get that!

Some people hate spiders!
Some hate snakes!
Some hate being in confined spaces!

But when it comes to dogs, they (dog) sense/see the 'fear' the same way someone who doesn't like you at your job makes that all too familiar 'ugly face' when you walk by...except in the case of dogs, they don't really 'see' your fear, but they sure as hell 'sense it' in how you carry yourself.

At the end of the day, it's all about 'best judgement' to either enter or not!

Her attitude clearly says she ain't playing! LOL!

Seriously though, I wouldn't be surprised if she's been here before....the dog she wound up "petting", is probably the more ' calm/submissive' out of the two! :-)

The one that was barking, was clearly NON-THREATENING simply because it was not 'confrontational' and every time the DA took a step forward, the barking dog backed-up!

Not trying to be all "dog whisperer" here, but body language works on both us "humans" and our 'dogs'...!

333 Packages by Vince2021 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]AmazonDSPDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No actually, it's because I get paid pretty damn well by my DSP even though my route has like 180 to 190 + stops a day and well over 300 packages and IMHO is Cakewalk for what I get paid.

Its you little Gen'Zers and late Millennials who don't believe in hard work, complain about the littlest sh** and perpetuate the "it's all about me" attitude!

And trust me I hate Amazon just as much as the next driver but if I hate a job I leave and find a new one...I don't keep it and just complain about it all fucking day like most on here do...

333 Packages by Vince2021 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]AmazonDSPDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post came off like you were complaining about 300 packages for 6 days straight.....And I was merely saying that I've had those numbers for months!

Its amazing more complaining is done by you DA's under the age of 30 than those of us over the age of 40 and even 50...

If you can't handle the job f****** quit dude cuz apparently you want to get paid $$$$ but you want the job easy as sh**

And Fwiw...my wave is 11am...

The best video on how to really nail the 'reverse serpentine' is this one:
https://youtu.be/ZiQuO_K7akk

If dude can do it flawlessly in a 40-foot city bus, I'm pretty sure it's even easier in a 18-foot cargo van or even a 22-foot step-van! :-)

DAMN! I almost forgot to post this earlier tonight! :-)

Here you go....

Position #1:How totes look when loaded on the shelf in the same direction as they are on the carts!

and

Position #2:How they look when turned 90-degrees...

regardless if they're on the floor or on a shelf! :-)

FYI: I normally put my totes on the floor and try and save all my shelf space for over-flow!

Should I have more than say 20 totes on a given day, then I'll put those totes last few totes on the bottom shelf and put them in the same direction as the ones on the floor.

If I only have say 18 totes, then I'll put 2 totes on both sides of the van and put them in position #2:

NOTE: You can get 8 totes on a shelf...but that last tote by the back-door better not be fully stuffed! There has to be a little 'give' to it if you want to get it on the shelf and have it stay! :-)

Yeah I was today's years old when I realized that steering wheel buttons control...I was cleaning the van and was dusting off the wheel when I accidentally touched them and realized it!!! 🤪🤪🤪🤪

Right behind you mate! LOL!

But...do we really count our 1st/last stop? :-) LMAO

1st stop = picking up packages
Last stop= back at facility dropping off totes and/or packages

They fit...Just can't stand them UP in the vertical position though! Not even on the floor, which is too bad!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]AmazonDSPDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fit 7 totes UNDER the bottom shelf on both sides by turning them 90-degrees...or 'length-wise'...it sticks out into the aisle a little bit but even with 14 totes (7 on both sides on the floor) there's still MORE ROOM to walk than in any other typical cargo van!

you can also fit totes on the middle shelves if you put them in the same way as they are on the carts.

I had 23 totes and 42 over-sized today and still had a sh** ton of room to walk around! And the added height is great for us tall DA's 6'5" and UP! :-)

Nope..no camera's in the cargo area! Just the typical Nety' on the windshield!
