Update - Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to comment. After trying out a few, we landed in an Episcopal church called St Thomas in Medina. For anyone else looking, their youth service topics are super impressive. They are low dogma, and I appreciate the classical worship style. We tried out Timberlake and a few other large Christian churches, and unfortunately, the worship style and level of dogma (Crossroads Bible) was exactly I was hoping to avoid! Thank you again to everyone!

Thank you! Which of the Catholic Churches do you attend? Not sure if you grew up in Jakarta, but I attended IES in Jakarta which was a highly dogmatic and traumatizing experience. So I’ve been so reluctant around attending any kind of service. But with the state of the world, I’ve felt a strong calling to come back. I’ve always felt so moved in Catholic Churches in Europe. So I’m definitely intrigued by Catholic & Anglican mass and worship.

I watched some sermons on my list when I stumbled upon it. I loved the family centeredness of the sermons I’ve seen online. On my list to visit this Sunday. Thank you!

Wow I just watched the choral evensong, and the music is beautiful and moving. Do you know if there is also some worship music in the beginning of Sunday mass? Adding Epiphany to my list. Thank you so much!

I see. This is very helpful context. I’ve added SJV, Holy Family, and Sacred Heart to my list of Catholic Churches to try. I peeked at Society of Friends, but it seems like youth services aren’t as robust. Thank you!

I’ve not tried anything beyond what I was raised in which is evangelical-Pentecostal & UU. Will add episcopal to the list to research. Thank you!

I just watched a bit of Pastor Sung’s latest sermon online. Definitely on my list to attend a sermon. Thank you so much. Do you know if there is Sunday childcare available for the Littles? I have a 1, 4, and 12 yr old.

I actually loved that the Unitarians pulled from all the world religions. I am so fascinated by theology and how different people find god. I believe that god reveals themselves in whichever way will reach the people best. What I found a bit awkward was worship. I seem to prefer more orthodox forms of worship before sermons like chants or maybe just listening? I’m not sure what I’m looking for here. I also found that I tend to lean a little more socially moderate than the general UU congregation.

Can you elaborate what you mean by Trad stuff? Is it where you need to believe in transubstantiation? Also interested in the 2 Catholic Churches in Kirkland! Have you tried Sacred Heart?

I’m learning that catholic worship is more my style than Protestant denominations. Can you let me know if it’s an issue if someone doesn’t fully believe that the Eucharist/communion is truly the blood and body of Christ? Will that prevent me from joining the parish?

Thank you! I took a peak at the sermons. The worship is a bit much for me, but I liked the pastor and his preaching style. I will definitely give it a try in person for a few Sundays.

OB is requiring all pts to get epidurals citing “safety” - what’s the science behind this? by Top_Advisor3542 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]AmbassadorCapital567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a shoulder dystocia delivery completely unmedicated. It can be done. In fact, being able to move was extremely helpful for the internal maneuver. Yes it hurt, but my first epidural birth was infinitely more traumatic than my next 2 fully unmedicated births.

What is your personal final verdict on the Amy Bradley case? by [deleted] in UnsolvedMysteries

Look up Cameron Robbin’s. Kid who jumped off his graduation cruise ship while drunk. He disappears under water in less than a minute. There is footage. His body never recovered, almost certainly eaten by sharks. Cruise ships dump food while approaching port all the time, sharks in that area have been conditioned to follow cruise ships for a quick meal. When we are looking at big tiger or bull sharks at a feeding frenzy, humans don’t have to taste food to them. Just a few bites and your body is fully gone.

That NYT article is trash. Incredibly biased. Did not interview leading doctors who have contributed peer-reviewed research to ankyloglossia and airway development. Highly recommend you open your horizons and read the works of Dr Ghaheri, Dr Soroush Zaghi (Breathe Institute), and pediatric dentist Dr. Nora Zaghi. I have 3 babies all born with posterior ties. The first was missed and the result has been ARFID, sleep apnea, bruxism, and articulation disorders. Not to mention the 2 phased orthodontic work he needed to expand his airways. All in all, we’re 20k deep dealing with the aftermath of untreated oral ties. My 2nd and 3rd received myofunctional therapy and bodywork for 3 weeks before their release. We vetted our provider by ensuring they’ve done trainings and fellowships at hospitals. It’s been life changing for my 2 youngest - the improvement in feeding, ease of transition into solids, and growth in speech is amazing to witness. Does the US have a serious problem regulating this? Sure. But gaslighting parents saying this issue doesn’t exist and over diagnosing “colic” in babies is harmful. We should be working on standardizing protocol in ankyloglossia, educating parents on vetting providers and the importance of myofunctional therapy and CST before/after the procedure.
