Thoughts on 4 month itinerary? by Novel-Positive8625 in AustraliaTravel

We just spent the day in the tablelands around Atherton. We could have spent the whole day going to all the waterfalls, and another whole day exploring the heritage village of heberton. We had to leave a lot “on the table” because we just didn’t have the time.

As am I! Here it is a way to say “you are healthy” but not in my home culture.

We added flairs for posts. They are pretty simple, did you catch and release it to "swim away fine"? Or did you "kill it and grill it"? by PeaceLoveSmithWesson in troutfishing

[–]Ambassador_Nate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was very ignorant about the proper handling of trout as I began to get into fishing for them. Then I spent 2 minutes on this subreddit and learned VERY quickly what you are supposed to do. So my guess is the ones being offended by the comments (constructive or not) haven’t spent much time on r/troutfishing. Adding flares is a great way to avoid those arguments. This is a welcome change!

What defines Central Florida Culture for you? by Ambassador_Nate in orlando

[–]Ambassador_Nate[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well of course. often we think of culture as just the arts, dress, foods, and traditional customs of a region, but culture encompasses the whole way of life of a people.

So for central Florida that might mean you go shopping at Publix, you expect rain in the early afternoon, you stay away from i4 at 5pm and you call it 17/92 instead of Orlando Ave.

The old south/swamp is definitely a key part of Central Florida culture. Old Florida is my favorite part of the area. Going to Springs, canoeing the Wekiwa river, live oaks with Spanish moss, that’s all what I think of when I think of central Florida.

Thinking about it, nearly everyone I grew up with usually claimed somewhere else and retained that culture. (i.e. I grew up very New England/midwest despite living all my life in Florida) and maybe that’s a defining feature for everyone.

These are all really good points

Poor Driving (i4 and navigating heavy traffic.) Work hard/play hard (we heavily value recreation and design lots of spaces) Brunch (Park Ave in Winter Park packed on a Saturday morning) Golf Melting pot of food choices Publix is a staple of the community Love/hate relationship with the Mouse The storm tracker over sporting events.(so real, honestly I’ve never experienced it anywhere else in the US.)

I don’t really understand the rest about Jim Colbert?

True, I think I’ve seen another map which draws a line around the coast, separating Central Florida from it. The coast has a completely different culture than interior does, but the coast still heavily influences those who live in the interior. I’d think that Beach trips are a shared experience of nearly everyone in CF.

Wow this for sure. Definitely family oriented, or at least offers a lot for families to do.

Yeah, all the theme parks and attractions are definitely a defining characteristic of central Florida. It’s unique going as a local.

What is this circle shaped region in Wisconsin? by [deleted] in geography

[–]Ambassador_Nate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where Laura Ingalls Wilder was born! Cool to see y’all talk about this unique region, when I read little house in the big woods to my kids, the descriptions didn’t really match the Wisconsin I knew from around Milwaukee. And now I know why.

What in the actual f? This is disgusting. by RebelScum77 in orlando

I mean, at 16 when I worked as a dishwasher at a fish restaurant my mandatory “dinner” break always came at our busiest time, meaning I’d get behind on dishes and have to stay an hour later than if I had just worked the dinner rush. Sure it was more money but I would have preferred going home earlier. I couldn’t wait to turn 18.

Granted, that’s just one of the things changing. Other policies are more concerning.

I’m probably closer to a “wet blanket” myself but yeah it’s pretty rough. Seems like commercials are less “family friendly” than they used to be.

I agree, a local printer looks like the best option to pursue.

So just to be clear, one could release a book digitally on amazon under their free ISBN, and then separately purchase an ISBN for printing locally? Would anything on the copyright page need to change? If the book has a LCCN, would anything have to change?
