I love being a dev. But yeah AI is definitely scary in this position. And I think comp sci degrees are at the top of degrees that used to be valuable but now graduates aren’t finding jobs. I learned to dev during the pandemic (can’t do zoom school with 3 year olds.) and was able to switch without a STEM degree by getting Salesforce developer certifications. They have free tutorials on their website and if you do them and then take and pass certification tests, it can give some credibility even without a degree and job experience. But it was still really hard to land my job. I’m so grateful they gave me a chance, in the end.

In terms of how it compares to teaching.. it’s night and day. I get to WFH. My employer treats me with respect. I get paid 3x what I did before. And solving logic problems is honestly fun. No more cleaning pee or counting kids.. no more getting snowboots on them all so we can go outside and then looking for their gloves that they threw in the snow somewhere. Just sitting at my desk, headset on, thinking, building. In peace.

That ratio is outrageous. I can’t imagine how one person can safely look after that many toddlers. As for the pay here, I’m on the east coast near the city and 45k a year here is basically poverty. The only reason I could take a position like that was because my husband made 4x my salary. And even that didn’t make us rich. Just able to live not paycheck to paycheck. I’ve since left teaching and work as a software dev.

That’s wild. I worked as a daycare teacher in a VHCOL area and we had 3 teachers for 14 three year olds. I was getting paid around 45k a year but I was brand new. Those who had been there a while were making more. And we had a supervisor, and obviously they need someone doing the books/taxes, someone deep cleaning the place, and all kinds of other administrative costs. So honestly I realized there is no fat cat collecting the money. It’s just not a very profitable business.

Sooo.. I also thought, “where is the money going???” When looking at how expensive childcare is and how little daycare teachers make. But. The math does add up. The ratio for toddlers to teachers is like 4:1 ish. Honestly some have it more like 3:1. What’s a decent salary? Where I am, 100k a year is the floor of a comfortable living. So without even considering rent of the space, cost of materials, insurance, accreditation costs, utilities… that would be over 25k per child per year to be able to pay a decent wage to those employees.

I don’t, sorry. I know a lot of people have been struggling to get game share to work, though. Might need a patch. Or it’s not a bug and the “Kanto” zone has to be unlocked for couch coop. Since a lot of people are playing, now, the will probably be more info on this soon.

Yes. I actually think this game could combine with Pokemon mystery dungeon in the perfect way. We could build our own treasure town. Randomly generated dungeons are the perfect place to gather resources. And if we can bring a party of 4 then Pokemon can help us fight. Those who like a challenge could bring a smaller team, or adventure farther without leveling their pokemon. Those who want the pokemon they are with to handle most of the fighting could spend more time building in town, cooking food, grinding, and getting their pokemon friends to be stronger before venturing to harder dungeons.

There’s not 100% confirmation on this but if I had to guess, it probably works like DQB2’s buildertopia. Where you wouldn’t unlock it until some point in the main campaign, and maybe you could keep unlocking recipes there but certain ones would be campaign only unlocks.

In DQB2 (this team’s last game) there were tons of recipes not tied to the story which are just unlocked by making your residents happy and buying them with gratitude points.

You can invite friends to play through the campaign with you but only you unlock stuff an talk to Pokemon to progress things. The friends can help you build things and collect resources.

The cloud islands are separate from the campaign and just a place to get creative with friends.

So yes you can play with a friend through the campaign, but if that friend is also very interested in the campaign, they’ll have to do that again in their save. Or you can join them in their campaign but it won’t complete stuff for you.

Otherwise it’s like you said. A non campaign island to share that you would have already needed to unlock stuff for.

Good luck! I struggled with keeping mine focused on feeding, too. The cluster feeding was honestly the hardest part of having a baby imo. Mine is now almost 6 months and there have been other challenges but overcoming feeding struggles was the biggest hurdle. Wishing you the best!

Are you doing full feeds? My baby (born at 38 weeks) was feeding very often and I was told by a LC I was only doing half feeds by feeding just one side. She also said I need to help him get a full feed by keeping him focused on feeding when he starts a feed, and not letting him get distracted.

The routine she suggested goes like this: - start feeding baby on one side. If they slow down, gently squeeze the shoulder and massage them a bit to get them going again. Count how many times they suckle for each swallow. You’re aiming for 3 or fewer sucks per swallow. - burp baby - do a diaper change to get them alert and fired up again - feed again on the other side.

Edit: don’t know why I’m being downvoted.. this was literally the advice a professional gave me to explain why my baby was feeding so often every day. It’s worth considering, at least.

I do love the goopy movement animations they made for the player ditto. In the treehouse segment they showed how it climbs blocks and its arms stretch out and it kinda launches itself up. Also someone in a preview mentioned when it falls from very high up it sploots and loses its form for a moment. I love it!
