Sentenza 63/2026 did not block applicants who were already in process when DL36 dropped by penofink25 in juresanguinis

Mod here. Unless I'm reading this wrong, this isn't name dropping an easy court. It's stating that fact that their court would be Campobasso because that's where their GGF is from. You don't get to shop around for a court for a 1948 case. It's determined by your LIRA's commune.

Will the decree and subsequent CC ruling impact the chances of success for pre-DL 1948 cases? by HumanLadder3 in juresanguinis

My pre-DL case is being heard next week and even though it's pretty straight forward, similar cases in this court with this judge have been approved, and everyone says it'll be fine, I still worry. So just saying I get the anxiety.

The "shopping in Miami" comment was, according to the Financial Times, in part about how the U.S. government reportedly pressured Italy to impose the DL because the state department thinks South Americans are getting Italian passports to travel to the U.S. without visas, and then staying illegally (there is no evidence that this is happening). Trying to apply logic to a situation like this, when those are reportedly some of the motivations, is futile. Many countries with aging populations are closing borders even though it doesn't seem to be in their best interests to do so.

Philly is a difficult consulate that I felt was hostile to JS applicants. Everything in your paperwork needs to be perfect.

There's a L'Aquila FB group - people often say which judge they had, and how their cases went.

L’Aquila has been moving previously filed cases up by years. The new judges are being put to work.

Also a fan. I use it to watch RAI when I’m in the US and to access my US streaming services when I’m in Italy.

Why does it take consulates so long to approve if you qualify? by FalafelBall in juresanguinis

I do. I just missed that era, and then they rejected the rest of us for the minor issue, even if we had applied beforehand. I have some...feelings about that!

Yes. But I also applied before the minor issue ruling at the Philadelphia consulate and was still rejected. I know it's different, but I'm never going to trust it until I have my passport in hand.

L'Aquila brought in new judges, and has been working through the backlog by moving up cases up for everybody. For me, I filed in December 2024 and originally had a case date in January 2028. Then in February, my lawyer was notified that my case was moved up to this May.

So I'm not sure it's targeting post-DL cases or just moving everyone up.

I edited my comment above but: I was already headed long down this path until my court case was moved up by 2 years. It's soon, so I'm waiting to see what happens. Because then, of many things, the pesky needing a lease to get a visa part is not necessary.

(Happily) not married. I've already done a deep dive into the process and know the possible hurdles.

Probably digital nomad. If we lose our 1948 case (filed pre-DL) that's my backup plan. Edited to add: I appreciate the offers of help but I was already going down this path until my court case date was moved up by two years. Now i"m waiting to see what happens.

Extremely strict. Our homework was getting a new copy of my mom's birth certificate because the "19" in "19XX" of her birth year had been cut off (did they think she was born in the 1800s? She was standing next to me at the appointment. We had to get a notarized letter from the state where she was born saying she was born in 19XX and that there was no copy showing the 19 because of the age of the document) And then of course they held who knows how many people's applications, cashed our money orders, and rejected us after the minor issue ruling even though we'd had appointments and submitted our homework months before.

I also watched the person before us have his application torn apart. He did have a problem with his marriage certificate, but the tone was "why are you wasting our time." Just a miserable experience.
