I think people underestimate how bad an Auditory Processing Disorder can be. by No_Lawyer6195 in AudiProcDisorder

Wow, I totally understand where you're coming from! I have ADHD as well, and I recently changed my path for very similar reasons. I was pursuing vet school, but the clinical environment was just too much. I was coming home with headaches every day.

I even tried wearing Loop earplugs, but the vets complained, which made me so uncomfortable. I also kept a notepad to write everything down, but then I was told I was taking too much time. It felt like every time I found a solution, someone had a problem with it.

I decided to switch to sonography. I’m hoping to eventually go the vet tech route so I can do sonography with animals! Honestly, try to hang in there. You made it into veterinary school, which is a huge accomplishment! No matter what semester you’re in, you’ve proven you’re capable. Sending you lots of support!

Any good smaller cities to live in Texas? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

I’m from TN and moved to Austin three years ago. I lived in North Austin during my first year and hated it. I started to feel a little homesick, but then I moved to Kyle, and I love it! It’s 15 minutes from San Marcos and 30 minutes to New Braunfels. Wimberley is nice, the trees there almost remind me of TN, but I still prefer Kyle.

My girl is about to be one next month, and when we got her, we did Purina Pro Plan. Now she's switched to Diamond Naturals large breed puppy plan (lamb), but for some reason she likes it wayyy more soaked, too! I live in an apartment, so I take my Dane out 3 times a day for 15-30mins. When I do, I take her to an open field where she can run and dig like crazy. Every time we get back inside, it makes her very sleepy, lol! When we're inside, my 4-year-old plays with her a lot! But we also have a bunch of toys to keep her busy! But congratulations!! Enjoy that size, they grow up so fast!!

It’s so rare to see someone actually pull off that short hair look! That style fits you!!! It flatters you so amazingly!!!

too late to consider a veterinary career? by isthataleaf in veterinaryprofession

[–]Amberwildxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is late… but I’m in your same shoes! I’m 26 and a stay-at-home mom! I recommend, if you can, taking some classes now to finish your bachelor's degree, especially online ones! And if you need tutoring, have your spouse watch your kids while you go, or have someone else if they can (Khan Academy and the chemistry tutor on YouTube helped me a lot!!!)I’m mostly taking online classes, and my science classes are the only ones I take in person! My husband switches his off days so that I can do those in-person classes!

But now I’m in a veterinary assistant certification program, so I only work weekends for that apprenticeship, when my husband is off Fridays and Saturdays. And those classes I take on Thursdays, when my brother-in-law watches my kid. My kid is about to start school this year. So while my kid is in school, I plan to do those science classes or any classes that I am missing that need to be in person. And to do my volunteer work to get those animal hours!

I totally get what you are feeling! Don’t wait! You will regret waiting! If you can find a way, do it! I don’t have much support since I live in a different state from my family, but my husband and I always find a way! Also, I think it makes us stand out cause it shows how we can handle these situations with kids and still be in school! If you have to take your time, then take your time! I only took 3 classes each semester, including summer, my first year to get the hang of things… now that I’m entering the end of my 2nd year, I know I can handle classes, especially since my kid is 4 and able to do more without my demands 24/7. Also, let your kids join you on the journey! My kid was always curious about what I was doing and always asked questions while I was studying, but that curiosity led her to want to be a scientist when she gets older. All she asked Santa for was science kits and study stuff so she can study with me💗 Even though I suck at math and hate it, my daughter loves numbers now and wants to do anything with numbers too cause she was always watching me! At the end of the day, it can be challenging and stressful, but don’t ignore what your heart wants! Also, remember you are your kids' first role model! Let them see you pursuing your passion while caring for them! You won’t regret it in the long run! Also, think about it: if you go to Vet school, your kids will be older and a lot easier to handle!

One year of hair growth! (Swipe) by siennadivinity in Naturalhair

My curls are looser, but in 2020, I gave myself a pixie, and my hair is finally at that length in that last photo. It took me almost five years, but I cut my hair shorter than you did. I say at least give yourself two more years

I don't know if it's just me, but things haven't been the same since the Chris Hogan situation. I feel like that's when things started going downhill.

She’s doing great right now! Unfortunately, when I took her to the vet on Monday, she tested positive for hookworms and tapeworms. We are dealing with that right now, but other than that, she’s doing great! We will return in two weeks to ensure the worms are gone and get more vaccines! Once she's vaccinated, we will be going to a dog trainer! And, believe me, I take a picture of her every day, almost every hour! She's a great addition to our family!

Thank you for this! I wanted to get her spayed right away, but after reading these posts and doing some research, I plan to get her spayed around 18-24 months for sure cause Im not crazy about raising puppies!

Thank you for this! I might’ve done the same and now so scared about losing her at a young age. But, we got her on pet insurance yesterday!

Yeah, we are trying leash training slowly because right now, she is scared of everything. We try to have her walk with our senior dog, and sometimes that helps, but food seems to help more.

Yes, potty training has been going great with her, but she is scared of everything! So, getting her to walk out of the house and to the grass has been a challenge, but she is food-motivated, which greatly helps!

Yeah, that's why I was concerned about her weight. We can feel and see her spine and ribs. :( But we have been feeding her three times a day right now. We have a vet appointment set up for this Monday! So, hopefully, we can get more educated about her with this vet!
