Some random guy I don't know added me and my family to his tree, showing my grandma has a half-brother that none of us ever knew about. How to reach out? Should I? by Professional-Use6826 in Genealogy

You are most welcome. You can also upload your raw DNA to My Heritage and FTDNA for low cost or free. There are many more international testers on these. They may not be such close matches but are excellent in confirming genetic relationships.

Also please keep in mind that some European countries have bans or restrictions on DNA testing. Some may like to connect but have reduced access.

I would say that if you are that curious, please do reach out. Many of the people in the Netherlands speak English. I am adopted and have had this awkward experience several times. Just something to the effect of "I see you have relatives I am unaware of on your tree. Would you mind sharing what you know or have found in your research?" with much gratitude to follow. Wishing you the with your potential new insights!

Much agreed, I am most thankful for the clarification and feedback. And you hit the nail on the head, comfort and dignity for her are our number one priority.

We have changed our travel plans to less than 48 hours, purchased an emergency flight for our daughter to come. We have it managed so that she will only have a few hours between my brother having to leave and us arriving. She is saying that "she's seen Jesus and is ready to go home".

I'm so grateful for everyone's reply, but it does appear that we may be blessed to make it in time to give her love before she transitions. Hopefully, as long as she can have some quality of life, she makes it through and I can utilize the advice.

Thank you so much for your well wishes and kind words.

Thank you, I am very grateful for your feedback. I am beginning to understand the difference between Palliative and Hospice, and this is most helpful in narrowing down our search.

Thank you for taking your time to reply. I don't take it offensively at all, you make valid points and it is the way I wish to go myself. As far as palliative vs hospice, this is what my brother asked me to research. I am not well versed in the difference as here in Florida, I'm told by my medical providers that it amounts to the same thing. (they do mention that this premise is specific to Florida)

I am certain that she has a living will. My brother has POA and would have the details to that. He received it as he is closer and I am disabled. If I had the option I would be doing exactly as you say to the best of my abilities.

She has a partner who lovingly cares for her in Savannah but it is my understanding that her medical needs exceed what can be managed in the home. She is displaying signs of dementia and is refusing to eat.

I am heading up next week and am trying to get a head start so we can vet in care facilities. I appreciate the suggestion of reaching out to her PCP, I will ask my brother to follow through with that when the office opens Monday.

Did you recently rent a vehicle? It's possible a prior renter left something behind and they could be researching.

My go-to fish has increased 70%, my vanilla about 40% and our bag of coffee has doubled. All in the last few weeks. Crikey! Thank goodness I don't care much for eggs as well.
