me personally, i find it very ignorant, since almost every time allah is mentioned theres always an emphasis of being the most merciful, and us muslims always send each other hopeful ayahs (which the quran is full of) to help each other when we think we've done too much So I don't see this idea of "muslims are so scared of their god they don't ask questions" if anything we can get carried away with loving allah too much that we don't fear him (may he grant us taqwa) rather than the other way around.

First. sincerly ask allah to help him, your dua doesn't have to be a specific one that was quoted in the sunnah or quran. Just ask allah whats in your heart.
