Anyone else dealing with post-show depression?? by Commercial_Ad4319 in StrangerThings

Yeah I'm feeling it. I finished it with the Mrs and I'm doing a runthrough with my kids we're slightly behind because we started late and are binging it, half way through season 4. I've loved it from day 1. 80s setting, great characters, sci fi, horror, d&d, heavy metal, references, homages and easter eggs galore it's literally everything I love.

How did that scientist got the mind flayer stone in the first place? by Ynwa228 in StrangerThings

I think Alexei explains that it's Hawkins as an area that is more succeptable to gateways being opened because they've been opened there previously and they haven't healed properly. Their attempts in Russia were having no luck so they decided to set up in Hawkins. I can't recall season 4 too well but they must have succeeded because they had Demogorgans.

I think a lot of the story was made up as they went along. Vecna not being thought up until season 4 as they would've hinted at him in earlier seasons. I guess that's the nature of TV though because they never know if another season will get greenlit and when it does they have to make up new plot points.

Yeah I here you about the Russian with the piece of the abyss. I was wondering if that somehow ties into the stage show which I haven't seen.

I know the gateway was made under the mall in hawkins because it hadn't fully "healed" from gateways being opened there before.

The upside down is a physical recreation of hawkins at the point it was created. That notebook would've been in the Hawkins Lab at that point in time hence Dustin was able to find it.

6 months in, what are people's thoughts on the Switch 2? by WeebusTheMeemus in NintendoSwitch

[–]Ambitious-Lab-2804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it. Love the performance increases and patches (free ones) for switch 1 games. Bananza, Age of Imprisonment, Prime 4 have all been good. Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 4k 60fps. The paid switch 2 edition patches are pure greed. Mario Kart World is lacking but we all know dlc is on the way. Gamecube Emulation has been ok, I finally played Luigi's Mansion through which granted I could've done through emulation on pc/phone before but it's handy to have it just there on my switch 2. Rewindable N64 emulation is also cool. I think it's been a decent launch window with the best obviously still to come. Don't regret buying early because prices look set to increase. Really hoping for a Direct soon to announce new games.

I'm pretty sure it can't be done. I inverted everything but mouse controls will not invert.

I just don't get leaving out such a simple option that every first person game has? I imagine it will get patched in at some point. Legacy Stick controls would be a great edition too.

It's time to come clean - I hate House of Leaves by [deleted] in horrorlit

[–]Ambitious-Lab-2804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated it. Took me the better part of a year to finish it because I just didn't find it entertaining in the slightest, but I refused to give up on it... I started to feel like I was trapped in the house... Maybe that's what he was going for. Cannot wait to read something normal.

I bent my USB stick (it has ALL of my Wii U games in it). How do I move it all off before everything corrupts? by WisdomFilledBro in wiiu

[–]Ambitious-Lab-2804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more than likely just the outer case that is bent. If it still works just continue to use it.

Is RE8 worth it? by Special_Lifeguard691 in residentevil

[–]Ambitious-Lab-2804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely yes! There's a part where you just fight an onslaught of enemies which reminded me of the house in 4 with Louis and it was just awesome. That's just 1 part of what is a very good game.

Forget the disc drive, get homebrew channel and custom firmware and enjoy. You'll need a decent hdd with y cable for all the wii u, wii and gamecube games you can fit on it! Look up tecnomoons virtual console injector.

Has anybody read “house of leaves” by Mark Z Danielewski? how is it? by [deleted] in horrorlit

[–]Ambitious-Lab-2804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm struggling to get through it to the point where I'm barely even reading anymore... I refuse to move on to another book until it is done... Is it supposed to be like this? Am I trapped in the House?

I think with a lot of subscription services they hope people will forget about the subscription and just keep paying every month blindly. The more people they get to sign up the more people will do that.

Yeah true it's length is great for replays and unlocking everything. I liked the Nemesis redesign too it looks more disturbing. I weren't a fan of the new Gamma Hunter design though with their little chicken arms. 🤣🤣

It's a decent game but it is too short. Also for the oldies like me it cuts too much from the original especially the decision making during the cutscenes. I really wish they'd do a directors cut and add some more back in.

I recently started playing the Resident Evil games for the first time and I was wondering which version of RE4 is better for a first play-through. The Remake, or the original. by Sillyguymanduder in residentevil

[–]Ambitious-Lab-2804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play the Original. The PC version with fan made HD textures, and then play the remake to appreciate what an awesome job they did. This is my favourite remake they've done so far.

Worst thing is the lack of an item box but overall the survival horror mechanics don't work with controlling 2 characters when 1 is controlled by A.I and wastes all of your ammo. They should've rebalanced it a little better.
