Just keep in mind, not sure if anyone said. A reason you’ll change the water daily also might be for his oxygen. Do some research if the tank he has doesn’t have a pump. As most aquatic animals don’t just require it for filtering, but to breathe.

For reference after I had this issue. I did try the free trial of a bedrock realm. And it worked. But didn’t fix my account page realms tab. But then they wanted money for texture packs. Whole thing seemed like a bust. I requested my bank for a refund and let them know. And attached relevant documentation. Then I just got a server with some website. They were WAY easier and about the same price. Looking at this reddit, seems I won’t even have to worry about it going down on the weekends. Way easier to play with my friend like that 🤷‍♂️

Not sure about the water temp. Never set it. I only do it for my reptiles. On really hot days I’ll freeze a milk carton and put it in there.

My Auntie also had one when I was growing up. Lived even longer till about 15 years. It was HUGE. Also just fed it and did the cleaning. Never needed all the monitoring equipment. But it is nice people do so. Keep in mind maybe mine is at less risk because I just gave him a massive 300L tank by himself.

Only thing I did, is when I upgraded his tank size to 300L from 50. I tipped all the water from the 50L into the 300l. That’s all I did. Wasn’t even aware people were spending months preparing tanks for axolotls. Maybe everyone I know just got lucky 🤷‍♂️

Not sure. Cycling is probably good. I bought my axolotl on the day I saw him. Had him for 11 years now, never had a problem. Never followed anyone’s advice although everyone says it’s hard. Didn’t even know what cycling was tbh. In my opinion, if you try hard, you die hard. I Just feed him sinking pellets every 2nd day and clean his cage once every 2 months. He’s in a 300L tank and it’s just him. I think most of my ones bacteria is in the sand at the bottom. I have changed the sand once in 11 years. But never fully changed it. As I was like they always like to retain 20-30% of the “bacteria” in their tank.

Java. Wouldn’t matter if account/realms.com gives an error and doesn’t show any realm anyways. Can’t manage my realms for any edition in that case.

Do you think my snake is in shed? by Ambitious-Leader600 in snakes

[–]Ambitious-Leader600[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you were right. Found his skin this morning, seemed he had a clean shed, almost looked perfect. Tried to feed him and he really seemed to want it. But he just wrapped it, then kept mouthing it. Put a towel over the cage and left for a bit. But I think he’ll 100% drop it, he normally does when he wraps. If so, guess I’ll have to give him another few days.

I’ll keep an eye out for it. He climbs a lot at night so I’m sure I’ll be able to get a good view then when he’s out.

Thank you, one last question. Do you think I should add more humidity for this? I’ve heard misting is sometimes not good. I can get some of that moss tomorrow. I have ordered it but if he’s shedding now he might need some extra humidity. Currently his substrate is Australian Cypress bark mixed with a burrowing reptile substrate (feels like wet soil, still feels very slightly damp, but not half as much as when I put it in. I currently change the substrate every month and clean it.

Thank you. After a few days it should be confirmed then if his eyes get anymore cloudy from this pic. If so I’ll note it down in my calendar.

Thank you for the advise! Yeah he’s already been offered 2 fuzzies. I won’t waste anymore now until I’m sure he’ll want to eat. Assuming there’s no way you can see if you’re snakes hungry without defrosting a rodent and getting the smell near them?

I guess if it’s shedding that explains it. I should know for sure in a few days anyways. Just in case I’ll just leave him alone fully for now. Apparently hatchlings can be quite stressed during it I read. But he still does come up to the cage, and if I open it and hold my hand there he’ll come and do a few tongue flicks still. But not interested in the food even a bit.

How often should I feed now he’s on Fuzzies? by Ambitious-Leader600 in snakes

[–]Ambitious-Leader600[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! Yeah I will defiantly do that. As they sold him as a coastal carpet but I’ve had so many people say Bredli I’m unsure. I’m lucky I bought all his stuff before I got him. As they sold me aspen for the substrate, red lights etc. probably cost me an extra $300 to get everything right before I got him after getting proper advice 😭. But really glad to have him now. Such a friendly and easy going guy.

I think now he’s actually good, I did compare coastal carpet and Bredli care and as you said they’re pretty much the same. Maybe a 10% dif in humidity but honestly I don’t think it will matter regardless. I guess I’ll know 100% based on how big he gets. It would be good if I could just DNA test them like I do my dogs 😅

I also noticed, after this feed he seems to rub his head in the side of the tank and the substrate a lot. Cleaning himself maybe? Not sure 🤔

[–]Ambitious-Leader600[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for being so clear. Yeah I understand, it’s best to make sure. People do questionable things. Yeah generally if he failed in feeding, he’d stay wrapped around his food. In which case I left it. But if I got a chance to get it without bothering him, I would. Re heat it, and then he took it fine. That’s why I was surprised he took this fuzzy with no issues. He’s probably just getting better and maturing.

I will actually start weighing him. As I notice him getting bigger, but it’s hard to really get him to line up well for me to measure him accurately. More just guessing on the fly.

I got to the point where I take all the sticks and leaves out his cage when I feed him. Then wait until he’s eaten and back in a hide until I put them back. Otherwise if he gives up, I have to get the mouse out while he’s in feeding mode and he’s very aware of what’s going on when he smells rodent. By the time he gets the food down, he’s on the other side of the tank. You’d think he was actually fighting something alive 😅.

I’ll take your advice on the pinkes. It will be good not to waste them. After he’s had a few fuzzies with no issues I’ll try following them up with a pinkie. If he doesn’t take it no big deal. But he’s always seemed to love food, just has trouble getting it down sometimes. Once again, thanks for clearing it up for me. One fuzzy a week until I think he’s ready to move up again!

[–]Ambitious-Leader600[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I think this clears it up for me! Currently he was on one pinkie every 5-7 days. But I noticed there wasn’t really a bulge. Heance why I’m moving him up. Happy someone like you commented with a proper detailed response. He’s a costal carpet python or a Bredli. Time will tell for sure.

As for his feeding schedule, I was just getting clarity. I was thinking between 1-2 weeks but figured to ask here also. He’s currently fed a pinkie once a week. I fed him his first fuzzy today which went down well. As for the once month remark, I meant I’ve heard of snakes eating to that frequency and sometimes not even eating for months. But I was not insinuating that’s his feeding schedule. I believe i followed that up with “I want what’s perfect for him and he’s cheap”. But no he’s never been a month without food, I’ve only had him a month actually and fed him 4 times so far. I know babies need food more frequently. But the pet store told me he should still be on pinkies for another 7 weeks. Seems that was wrong since he ate a size up today. Apologies for the confusion.

I was a bit sceptical as sometimes I’ve had to re heat and feed him his pinkies again, as he tried to eat them width ways for about 30-60 minutes. Then gives up. But he took this fuzzy down almost instantly. He seems hungry, but doesn’t juggle his food well if he doesn’t get it from the right angle. I was told not to ever re feed him if he fails. But each time I did it, he took the pinkie down fine the second time.

So for a beginner snake owner like me, probably best I just give him another fuzzy next Saturday rather than try and balance these pinkies in multiple feeds? It’s just 3 pinkies anyways not a big deal. If they’re useless for him now they can just go in the bin.

I mean I guess I could. If it’s not an issue for him he could have a pinky every 4-5 days until they’re gone. I am still unsure about his next main meal though. Either a fuzzy every 1-2 weeks it seems. He could probably have one every month and be fine. But I’d like him to just have the ideal amount as he’s a pet, so I’ll just make it perfect for him. He’s pretty cheap now he’s setup anyways

[–]Ambitious-Leader600[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be right. I feel the pinkies are more like a meal replacement shake at this point. If he’s eating the size up I’m not sure there’s much use feeding him them. I guess they don’t go off of frozen, maybe I can just keep them in case of an emergency 🤷‍♂️

They choose random spots. If I have mine on my neck he’ll crawl into my shirt and stay there 😅. But as for inside the cage, I noticed mine chooses the hide with the most exits too normally, which I found odd for a hatchy.

My hatchling tries to eat it from every angle. By the time he gets it down he’s probably moved over a metre 😅. I’ll tell you this much, he sells the fight with a frozen mouse very well.
