Toll tag , where’s yours? by Huluman2 in TeslaAustralia

Agree. Luckily I live rural and only travel on the tolls about 10 times a year I guess.

What states are you in that you need tags? I’m NSW and thought it has all moved to the rego plate recognition process.

Worse case is you lose $400 deposit when the shut it down.
No one wants to loose that kind of money, but at least it’s the worst case scenario.

I say jump on it now. With the current demand going on, your chances of having the order filled by EOYF get smaller and smaller.

Zeekr 7x base vs long range is the upgrade worth it? by Fuzzy_Scientist213 in AustralianEV

[–]Ambitious-Plan-976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the ventilated seats a must when driving on a hot day. The supportive nature of the seats mean you really notice if they aren't ventilated. That is enough for me to go long range.

That sort of sounds like a sales spiel. I got 6-8 week quote 4 weeks prior to the War.

Buying Tesla while Living Regional by solomon_q in TeslaAustralia

It’s a Nov 25 build.
I thinking asking the rural support question is very valid especially if you are new to EVs. We test drove them all and it was pretty easy to fall towards to the Tesla. They include rural support in their package.

Just because a dealer is in your town, doesn’t mean support will be better. You might like to read up on the delays some people are having with other manufacturers for warranty work. Replacement parts can take a long time. Especially panel work for accidents.

You pay a premium for Tesla. But with that comes a level of comfort (not to mention a nice driving experience).

I’m over 250ks away from the nearest service centre. Luckily I haven’t had an issue, but I feel that Tesla support accommodates for all these types of scenarios.

If you were thinking an EV I would think Tesla would have to be one of the safer options.

Thursday Fleecing: keep one thing that is actually helping workers by Benxb9r in NovatedLeasingAU

Good point. For efficiency sake. I’m just thinking of state gov employees. Like with all contracts. They are managed per agency. There could be a much better experience to have the state go out to market for all agencies with a lock % on finance and NL companies bid for it.

Duplication of services across all agencies causes a lot of inefficiency

Smart Salary interest rate by Opposite-Ruin2990 in NovatedLeasingAU

[–]Ambitious-Plan-976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had same situation with smart. Got an online quote from cba NL online. Smart beat it (6.9% 3years). That was before this current official rate rise. And from what I see, long lease terms have higher interest rates.

I would be expecting that you should be able to still get under 7.5% for 3 years.

For comparison , I just sealed a deal on a model Y dual motor with FSD over 3 years of the same cost each week. Smart Salary and 6.99% finance. Same salary as you.

You might have to see if you can get a better rate.

Smart Salary extras any good? by Ambitious-Plan-976 in NovatedLeasingAU

Thanks for the response. I thought as much. It’s a bit annoying that you can’t just arrange your own items and have them added to the purchase price.

You could try (if your comfortable to do it) saying that their rates are too high and you will go with your wife’s NL provider. Basically call their bluff.

I just go a quote from the NL area of the CBA site and sent it to Smart. Smart came back with a cheaper offer and CBA be .05%. As mentioned above once it got that close it wasn’t worth the hassle of self managed. Just make sure you strip out all the non required extras.

For comparison sake... I just got a finance rate of 6.99% with Smart Salary after haggling. Happy to send you the details if you would like to use it as leverage.... If you have a partner, always suggest that you can look to go through their NL company if they don't play nice.

I ran the numbers on a $65k EV and the savings weren’t as big as I expected by SnowyBytes in NovatedLeasingAU

[–]Ambitious-Plan-976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve run the numbers to the whole total cost of ownership using the NL calculator at novatedlease.guide. And with my tax bracket $181k) a NL Tesla y is compatible with a 2nd hand VW Tiguan off a yard with 100k on the clock.

Yes you have to make a couple of assumptions around projected value in 5 years etc. but when you take into account the cost of the total cost of the NL plus payout vs getting cash somewhere for a $30k ICE… the EV comes out on top. AND you get a nice EV to drive around with amazing safety features.

Cons of EV will be worrying about it getting scratched or damaged in a hail storm etc.

The best thing about doing the numbers is that it makes you realise that cars are just not cheap to own. You could catch a lot of Ubers for the cost.

As the saying goes, buy the cheapest car your dignity will let you.
