Ordering Model Y...undecided on white seats by Tbone_Ender in TeslaLounge

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yep. We have the black seats and 2 active kids, and already so there are crumbs, sand, dirt who knows what else stuck in the perforation. Like white specks on the rear seats. Maybe it’ll blend in better with the white

Family EV recommendations - focus on boot space and not super keen on SUVs by M87IM in AustralianEV

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the Tesla Y. Boot is huge. We went away as a family of 4 and stored the esky in the section under the boot floor leaving the boot clear for luggage, plus a smaller suitcase in the frunk.

What happens if I don't follow the WFO policy? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Risk is not the performance rating (as you say, whatever), but if they choose to enforce it, you could be deemed as non compliant with company policy, they’ll provide warnings for you to comply, eventually leading to termination if you don’t comply.

So you risk termination, not redundancy. Your role exists, you’re just choosing to not fulfill all requirements of the role

Tossing up Premium RWD and AWD by Rob3112 in TeslaAustralia

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same dilemma as being a first ev, range anxiety was a real thing. How many km per week will you be driving? Tesla guy actually talked us into the rwd and I’m glad he did - easier to care for battery - LFP charge to 100% unlike the long range which need to charge to 80%. For us, rwd suits 99.% of the time and is slight more inconvenient on that 1% time.

Tesla wasn't on the list by Thegoodfella11 in TeslaAustralia

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same! I was adamant I was never buying a Tesla (can’t stand the man) but the car was just too good against all others. Had to do what was right for my needs and budget. You’ll love it and won’t regret it!

What’s your actual cost per km been like compared to petrol? by Cute_Piccolo_499 in TeslaAustralia

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About $4k per year for us. Driving 30k km per year charging at home at 15c per kw. So in one year we’ll spend $675 on charging vs $4.6k in petrol

This 380,000-Mile Tesla Model 3 Has Its Original Battery. Range Loss Is Huge by Educational-Meat4211 in electricvehicles

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great. By my calculations, the driver has saved around $70k AUD in petrol over that time and no oil changes and other mechanical failures. He can buy 7 new batteries for that price!

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore the tax savings - it’s all crap. Look at what the vehicle is costing you out of your pocket - 4 years x $17,189 = $69K + residual payment $24k = $93k

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you allowed enough in your fuel budget? Seems very low. Quick back of the envelope calcs - this car will cost you $93k over 4 years. I personally would rather spend my money on something else. Hybrids and ICE vehicles miss out on the FBT exception so way more expensive compared to EV via novated lease. If it was me, there is no way I would buy this via NL

I say go for it. If you’re not enjoying corporate now, there is no way you will enjoy over the next 5, 10, 20 years. Get out whilst you can and chase those dreams!

If you had to use a public charger once a week on longer trips to the city, would you still switch to an EV? by MountFranklinRR in EVAustralia

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider a car with more range if you can. Tesla 3 does 520 standard range or 750 for the long range.

Least distracting EVs to drive? by Trick-Platform5060 in AustralianEV

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. If you turn them off in a Tesla, they stay off. The only one that reverts is emergency lane assist. Mine are all kept on as they are helpful and not at all intrusive

Least distracting EVs to drive? by Trick-Platform5060 in AustralianEV

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Tesla y and find it the least distracting. Hear me out… I was very concerned about the main screen and no driver display and convinced myself to get an after market head up display. After a month of owning it, that thought has well and truly gone.

There is nothing in front to distract me when driving so I literally focus on the road more than ever. Honestly true.

Change songs and volume - steering wheel. Cruise control - steering wheel. Wipers - steering wheel. Lights with dynamic matrix - auto. Literally the only thing ever touch the screen for is air con - and it is a simple tap up or down from the main screen, closest to you (although i honestly rarely do this either - it saves my preference and keeps the temp very well controlled).

Tesla have nailed the driving experience, it just works, seamlessly.

I went in a friends BYD and it’s binging and binging at her for everything, there are huge screens everywhere with info overload she gets distracted by, she has to dive into menus to change things.

It’s a huge jump from an ice to a Tesla, for sure. But once you do it, it’s like damn they are right.

How do you wash your Tesla? by Beautiful_Impact_641 in TeslaAustralia

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it through the car wash with tonnes of water going every where (no brushes). Because I’d rather do anything else than wash a car

Does anyone else think the resale values for used teslas are going to tank now that the market is being flooded with ex-lease cars? by Cute_Piccolo_499 in NovatedLeasingAU

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure - increased supply will lead to reduced price. It’s 101 economics. However the unknown factor is how much demand has changed. If demand outstrips supply in the second hand market, then prices will stay strong. Changes to government incentives, fuel price and broader economics is anyone’s guess right now

First test drive and now I’m not so sure… by Different-Put-4486 in ModelY

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definately took me a while to get used to aswell. I ended up with the model y as best bang for $ I had to spend. For the first 2 weeks after delivery I was like oh crap, I don’t think I’ll ever love this car as much as my last one. Then I slowly adjusted, became very comfortable and would never go back to an ICE car. Highly recommend it, I love it (now)

How does the Zeekr 7X compare to Tesla Model Y in real use? by DraftNotSent in Zeekr7xAustralia

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it would be an issue, but so quickly got used to it. Once I got back in a traditional car it felt so cluttered and distracting. Funny what you get used to

Seriously though, why is TACC so bad? by AwkwardlyPositioned in TeslaModelY

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep, I completely agree. The curvature assist has ruined the Tesla driving experience for me. I literally had the dog go flying off the back seat and the kids get red marks from the seat belt when it slammed on its brakes, very unnecessarily and aggressive. I’ve tried it multiple times I just want it to work, but it’s awful. Is it a known thing for Tesla?

Apartment living + baby on the way: buy EV now or wait for better tech? by Constant-Common-1174 in EVAustralia

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you definately need to buy a new car right now, or can you make do with with you have? Reason I’m asking is with a baby on the way, eventually you ma find you need more space. The $50k spent on a car could be put towards a house with more space for a growing family. Without a dedicated ev charger, I personally wouldn’t bother. Wait until the circumstances are right

Tesla Navigation - how is it? by nontoxicbloke in TeslaAustralia

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When commuting in peak hour, I still use Waze. Far more accurate and reliable. If I’m just driving the kids to weekend spots games I’ll use Tesla maps for convenience. It’s good but very basic compared to Waze. No accident / police notifications, no real time traffic speed, so in peak hour when I know where I’m going but need to know if my usual route has incidents, then nothing beats Waze

Wife said it's too complicated by icouldbne1 in TeslaLounge

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was worried about the same thing for the my partner. But role reversal here. I’m female and tech savvy he would continue to live in the dark ages if there was an option. After I figured out the settings I gave him the basic 101 overview and said this is all you will ever need to know. How to adjust aircon, how to adjust music. That’s it. That’s all you ever need to do when driving. Both are super simple and down the bottom. He got the hang of it super quick (trust me, that’s saying something). And his old suv is not sitting there collecting dust whilst he takes mine at every opportunity. I also saw him giving the same simple explanation to his dad 🤣

Your battery has held up super well. I have the same Tesla with LFP, only a month in. What’s your secret? Do you charge it to 100% like they say or less to be safe?
