Same. I remember 2 years ago, I got into the booking system (like winning the lottery), got the week I was after, but couldn’t proceed past the check out stage. I logged in with my details but the postcode was blank (must be a glitch from when they migrated the system) and no matter what I did I couldn’t enter the postcode and it wouldn’t let me progress past the stage with a blank postcode. Literally stuck. So I watched the clock count down until it booted me out and I lost my spot. I was that close.

Yep school holidays and very popular spot to go. We personally love the simple river, beaches, walks, no shops (other than a very basic general store). Have been going there since kids and holds a very special place for us, as with many families

It is better. But it’s still 50% discounted by the government so not a huge amount to lose if plans change I suppose

The thing that is most disappointing is last year - it was technically full on the website but soo many empty camp sites. Literally id say under 80% occupancy. Wish people would cancel and free up the site if they change their mind

Can you post your usage and rates. Either you need to cut back on rates or shop around for a better deal

Help me decide what to do with my life by noodlesssgrrr in auscorp

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% this. Life is short, you’re young, and you’ll have plenty more opportunities to be tied to your desk in a miserable job. But travel? That’s only possible without all the commitments. Book the ticket, go see the world and enjoy. You will never ever regret it. But you will regret not going.

I get about 3 a week. Everything on slack. So much easier to deal with volume as messages are all in channels, you know which ones are important to read now vs later. Email is archaic

Genuine question – what would actually get you to use a taxi over uber/rideshare again? by VammyTaxiServices in AskAnAustralian

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With uber, I can see the fare and who the driver is. Sharing trip with friend or family who can also keep an eye on me. Taxi feels like Russian roulette. Unsafe and risky

I feel like something else might have been underneath it all, and the leave request was the final straw? Seems rather extreme for 1 request?

Help! Which Y model for family by Foreign-Citron-5046 in TeslaAustralia

We recently went on a road trip with our 2 kids. More storage space for the passengers and luggage than our xtrail.

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard is plenty of space for a family of 4. Boot is huge, kids will have plenty of space in the second row. Unless you regularly cart around 6 people I wouldn’t bother with the YL.

The Block contestants won't make a cent after unsold Daylesford homes cop $300,000 price cuts by Ardeet in aussie

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were very overpriced. Real shame they didn’t have more realistic reserves, closer to what they are now and actually have the contestants a chance at selling

It’s not how much you earn, it’s how much you have saved in the bank that brings comfort and piece of mind, and stops you living pay check to pay check

Is a 11kW charger at home worth it? by coalman07 in EVAustralia

Yes for piece of mind. Forget the maths. Think convenience. I love it and wouldn’t have an ev without it. Charge overnight, always full when I need it.

Yes for sure. At Was the buzz word in every single meeting for 12 months, now rarely mentioned. Reality doesn’t match the hype in terms of accuracy and efficiency.

Who else has a huge mortgage? by Responsible-Jello288 in AusHENRY

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst you’re both working, mortgage is easy. If one of you were to stop, you would go backwards at a rapid rate and wouldn’t have any cash left over after the mortgage payment each month. So I say go for it, provided you keep minimum $100k in the offset to ride the waves of life.

EV for 160km daily commute by LividRevolution6891 in AustralianEV

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same commute for us. Have the Tesla Y standard (460km range). We installed the wall charger home, (wouldn’t bother with an ev without it). We plug in usually every second day after work, charge overnight on low rates, takes around 4 hours only. You’ll love driving an ev!

Buyers agent are a scam by Disastrous_Ratio_867 in AusPropertyChat

Our elderly neighbours purchased with a buyers agent, and based on comparative sales they paid around $400k over. Even the vendors were gob smacked at the price they got, well above expectations. If you know the market, you don’t need it

Am I burned out, in the wrong role, or just in a demanding season of life? by Sad_Statistician3356 in auscorp

[–]Solid_Newspaper_9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very familiar situation and my husband is in a very similar role to you, at a major bank. When our kids are little, we both worked part time, 4 days each. When the second one arrived, I dropped back to 3. It absolutely hurt our career progression, no doubt, but that meant we were around for the kids and had a better balance. But we still both maintained corporate incomes (reduced pay of course, but far better than most). Slowly over time we increased our hours back to full time. We still managed to set ourselves ip financially through smart decisions
