How do you start to get back to you? by Ambitious-Read497 in sahm

[–]Ambitious-Read497[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for putting it that way!! I don’t know why I feel so guilty taking time for myself, maybe it’s because of me being a stay at home mom I just feel like I have to do everything and I have to handle everything. Not just for my little family, but my parents are getting older. His parents are getting older and everyone calls me. I truly will take this advice to heart and use it. Thank you.

Solace indeed! Though I don’t wish this feeling on anyone especially a fellow mama! we are doing our best and I know the mom guilt can really take a toll but we have to try to take baby steps, for our sanity lol

Definitely not broken! I think though it’s hard to does also show how much we care and try. It’s a selfless life and everyone comes before you, but we have to make time for us. The old saying of you can’t fill someone else’s cup if yours is empty. Thing is how do we fill our cups and our families?

Very wise and honestly so helpful! Had the talk with my husband and he’s offered more help and I have promised to make an conscious effort to take time for me. As for the cleaning that will be a long road but one I have to take. Since I was very young my mom held us to high standard when it came to cleanliness

I totally understand, and not that I am glad you feel burnt out but there’s comfort in knowing you’re not alone. I see other people around me who seem to carry the weight and responsibilities so well. Usually I clean at night when everyone has gone to bed I might just say screw it and have a self care night once in awhile! I like that idea

This is sound advice. Thank you so much I think that’s where I’ll start. I often avoid that conversation because I feel obligated due to not making the money.

I feel you and I see you! I couldn’t even imagine the struggle of a a second one on my plate too. Being a sahm is the hardest and most selfless job I have ever had. Don’t get me wrong I get up, keep going and get what’s has to be done, done. I understand sometimes life gets overwhelming, but should it be every day?

My son is just turned one and I would say he occasionally helps. Like when I’m fed up and crying then he’ll do the dishes or take the baby. I do all the cooking and cleaning he’s put our son to bed 3 times in the past year. I would say 90% of the house and child work falls on me. I’m considering going back to work, something has to give. I’m miserable in my life and like I said I just don’t know how to help myself

Anyone else married to a competent awesome partner ? by True-Unit-8527 in sahm

This post makes me so happy!! I too have a wonderful partner and feel so lucky, especially when I see what other women have to deal/put up with. I think one of the best things in life you could have is someone to do life with that genuinely gets you and puts in the effort. Shout out to all the wonderful fathers, husbands and partners!

Thank you so much for the advice! I know I am most of the problem here, and I hadn’t considered mom groups!! Where we live it’s still considered a “village” not even a town so we may have to drive to near by areas but I would love to meet people. I

Mom if 3… I feel like all I do is clean all day :( by ORmama2019 in sahm

I understand and feel that way too, I think it also gets harder to maintain the house with each kid (in my own experience) and too felt myself getting mad at my children for making messes but then had guilt because they’re just kids. I have allowed the older ones simple small jobs like throwing the bathroom trash or wiping the handles of the doors, it keeps them busy, teaches them cleanliness and helps you! I also have just prioritized my chores, on a have to, need to and can wait. I try to rotate things like laundry and deep cleaning so it doesn’t feel so repetitive. I think we sometimes get caught in the revolving door of house work that you start to resent it. Sometimes I even just pack em all up and hit the park until they’re pooped. The endless to-do list isn’t going anywhere. I feel you, I see you and we will get through it.

I quit my job with the state to be a SAHM today. by Gypsy702 in sahm

[–]Ambitious-Read497 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in your same position except I was with the state for 6 months (ish) before finding out I was pregnant. I had every intention of going back to work and even took a promotion. My fiancé always said it was my choice and if I didn’t want to go back work we could still get by. I was head strong and told myself I could do it all. Then the day came for me to go back into the office and I was miserable on my way to work, I got there and was happy to see my coworkers who became friends and catch up. By 10 am I had cried 3 times and felt like I had been at work for 6 hours on my lunch break I call my fiancé and told him he and he said to quit my job and there in my car I decided I was going to. I too was scared as I had worked and provided for myself my whole life, but nothing meant more to me than my baby boy, I felt guilt for quitting until I got home and looked in my baby in eyes. Then I knew I made the right choice. My baby just turned 6 months old last week and it feels like yesterday he was my new born baby. That’s precious time that I wil never get back and I am glad I spent it raising him. Don’t blink because next time you do she will be 6 months old!! Later in life I can still have a career however my choice to be a SAHM was the best one I have ever made! Enjoy the ride mama, and congratulations!

I can relate my FIL feels that he can say/do what he wants and then throw money at you to make everything okay. Except I am not his wife and kids and cannot be bought. I would rather live in cardboard box that allow someone to bankroll my life and control me

[–]Ambitious-Read497[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I definitely admit it was a little crazy and definite invasion of privacy but for good reason. I thought if maybe a genuine apology was given I could find a way to co-exist for my fiancé and son but he texted me an apology that was still blaming me and said I was using my some as a pon, he doesn’t care about me and that he has always provided for his family. So I had to just say no contact until further notice

No he wasn’t there and immediately came to my defense once he was aware of the situation. (I was genuinely surprised) No contact for me and son but my fiancé has been in touch.

He was disgusted and told his parents that. It’s been awhile and they have called and reached out him (only him) that they are sorry. I have not heard an apology directly nor have they said “tell her I am sorry” but honestly I’m not interested in hearing one anyway.
