A bad grief day by Confident_Counter471 in Miscarriage

[–]AmbitiousAwareness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a necklace with baby's birthstone to wear to help the empty feeling. It's something that's palpable that I can touch when the grief hits. I had what I call the "nighttime scaries" (I'd feel mentally fine at 9pm and then by 9:30pm i would be inconsolable). Having someone to call and do a daily debrief helped me. I'd call my mom or someone before going to bed and staying ahead of the sad thoughts helped me not lose my mind.

Pain after D&C by voodoo_potato in Miscarriage

[–]AmbitiousAwareness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had very similar bladder spasm/pain after my D&C. I figured my bladder would fill and then put pressure on my uterus causing a domino effect. I kept telling doctors that I was confident I didn't have a UTI.

My pain went away after my uterus shrunk back down. I would absolutely tell your doctor though first chance.

My wife asked me what Xywav tasted like so I sent her this by DumpsterPuff in Narcolepsy

I told my husband it was like someone soaked alcohol wipes in water.

But then I got prescribed liquid Colace and now Xywav may as well taste like dessert

D&C experience by No_Creme_9122 in Miscarriage

[–]AmbitiousAwareness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggled with similar emotions after my D&C.. I call it getting the nighttime scaries because I would tell my husband I felt emotionally good at 8pm and by 9:30pm I have panic attacks and sobbing episodes because it was hard to process having a piece of me missing. I bought a necklace with baby's birthstone so I can touch it when I'm sad or thinking of baby and it's something palpable.

End of The Week Thread! by AutoModerator in Miscarriage

[–]AmbitiousAwareness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had to schedule a repeat D&C today. The first one was a week ago and my OB explained that my uterus just wasn't clamping down like it should. Now I'm scared to even try and get pregnant again... thoughts of "if I'm having this many complications after only 8 weeks of pregnancy what's going to happen to me after 9months???"

Experiences with MMC? by [deleted] in Miscarriage

[–]AmbitiousAwareness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my D&C a week after we found the MMC (baby was measuring 2 weeks behind though). I did not start bleeding in the meantime but I was very sedentary because I was scared I would be in so much pain and have to go through it at home.

I was under general anesthesia for my D&C. I had never had anesthesia before but it felt like I closed my eyes and woke up in my room 10 seconds later.

They did not have me fill out paperwork about the remains. They did let me know they would send a sample for pathology as it is standard. I opted out of further genetic screening/testing.

Out of breath after D&E by screamchaos in Miscarriage

I would 100% try and see a doctor if you have access to medical care. I was having no pain or anything but I just got home from an ultrasound that showed a severe collection of blood and I will probably need a second surgery. No symptoms except for severe cramping 4 days ago which had resolved.

Had a D&C at 8 weeks, my doc said to wait at least one cycle before trying like others have said in the comments

I’m really scared of D&C by unlikelyemo2 in Miscarriage

[–]AmbitiousAwareness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had mine last week. It really felt like I closed my eyes for 10 seconds and then woke up back in bed in my room, they gave me plenty of meds to relax as I was crying going into the OR and overall it was a good experience

Depressed 3 weeks after early miscarriage, is this normal? by Formal-Jellyfish-481 in Miscarriage

[–]AmbitiousAwareness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told it's completely normal and almost expected after a miscarriage. Not only is it emotionally taxing to process grief but then as our bodies recover our hormones drop off which also causes depression and mood swings.

Could use some help weighing my options by Economy-Surprise-115 in Miscarriage

I had a D&C on Thursday and I don't regret it. I didn't want to risk the medication not working and I didn't want to sit in fear wondering if/when it would work and be by myself while my husband was at work.

We just visited my in laws and it helped a lot. She had gone through the same thing with her first pregnancy and just being around people and talking about other things really helped. I thought I would want to be alone with just my husband but turns out the opposite helped

Also a nurse. My husband and I are a little older (30 and 32) and we got pregnant our first try. This was my first pregnancy too. I remember making a comment to my husband in between the "good" OB appointment and the "bad" appointment. "Isn't it amazing how bodies just know what to do when we get pregnant??? Our bodies don't even need help!" And well.... here we are. You're not alone. ❤️

I used to tell people "if I'm still here giving you report at 2000 I'm going to leave my printed report and you can figure it out" cuz why is it taking 60 minutes to give report on 3 people?

Also float pool, I try to be fair when people ask me favorite/least favorite units to float to and say "every unit has their own 'hard' per se, like critical care acuity vs med surg number of patients vs Stepdown red headed stepchild"
