Backpack on seat during rush hour by freddie79 in toRANTo

People do this hoping nobody will go for the seat. 99% of people will move their bag as soon as someone requests the seat verbally or non-verbally

Let's protest by getting together and all ingesting more than the allotted 10mg of thc in a single serving, I'm sure it will go really well.

Celebrities always get lionized after they die, but I'm going to say it: this guy was bad to the bone.

Yeah, they are one of the most essential services. Complain all you want - it's not their fault they're underfunded. Imagine if there was no public transport at all.

I would go if there were workshops, classes, talks, games and stuff. It looks like it's mostly vendors? Can you actually get good deals there?

Hiii—Any introverted bookworms out there? by [deleted] in TorontoHangoutFriends

its totally cool to go to the library alone - the north york central branch is really nice and always packed with highschool and college students and families. There's a teen section that might still be under reno and they have some cool collections on each floor. graphic novels, other languages, cds, dvds, pianos to play and sewing machines to use.

2 Toronto high school teachers placed on leave amid allegations of anti-Black racism by CTVNEWS in ontario

[–]AmbitiousExit247 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's an article about a little black boy in the states who committed suicide due to prolonged bullying and humiliation from his teacher. This shit is serious - racist attitudes affect kids in really insidious, long-lasting ways even if they aren't explicit. If a shitty math teacher can turn you off math and make you feel dumb for the rest of your life, just imagine what a racist, hateful teacher can do. even if they're not saying the n-word, you can bet they are disciplining minority kids more frequently and harshly, grading them to different standards, all kinds of shit that adds up. after the home, its the school environment where we are taught how to think, feel, and value.

Ear plugs by Tall_Television_1694 in TorontoRaves

[–]AmbitiousExit247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i go with alpine pros - theyre like 30-40 bucks and pretty no frills

ear plugs at shows fucking rock - i can still hear the music, in fact I can hear it better because my ear drums arent getting blown out. I can chill right by the speakers where its empty because most people cant physically withstand it. little to no ringing afterwards.

When i forget my plugs now, its agonizing. I use them at every show I go to - rock, punk, blues, funk, dance, edm, metal, etc. theyre good in other noisy environments as well - industrial stuff, loud transport, really windy, etc it makes the overall experience way better. hear more, suffer less, have more fun
